OUR PHILOSOPHY Remuda Ranch has a proven history of providing world-class

individualized treatment for women and young girls whose lives and families have been nearly destroyed by their eating disorder.

On our scenic 100-acre ranch we reach the underlying cause of the disorder with a specialized approach that combines proven medical and clinically intensive treatment, while teaching skills through our experiential programs that allows the individual to

make self-directed choices toward recovery and restore balance to their lives.

TREATMENT APPROACH Our patients receive an individualized treatment plan supported

by a multi-disciplinary team that includes a psychiatric specialist, a primary care physician, a registered dietician, a licensed master’s or doctoral level therapist, a psychologist, and caring registered nurses who focus on the individual’s unique needs.

Individual and group therapy is designed to uncover and under-

stand the “whys” of an eating disorder with an underlying focus on trauma resolution. Treatment includes Equine Somat-

ic Experiencing, The Developmental Model of Immaturity and 12-Steps. Remuda Ranch is also one of the only Eating Disorder Treatment programs to use Somatic Experiencing® and EMDR for trauma resolution. This cutting-edge model includes proven methods for recovery.

Psychological testing and assessments for a variety of issues related to eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, depression, personality issues, addictions, and character temperament are performed to support treatment.

The goal of our program is to disempower the eating disorder by

uncovering the complex psychological factors contributing to the patient’s unhealthy relationship with food.

As patients progress through structured experiential therapy activities at Remuda Ranch they are provided opportunities to experience successes, identify obstacles, develop improved selfesteem, and take greater responsibility for their actions.

Experiential programming includes chapel, challenge course,

horse riding and horse handling, art therapy, music therapy, pool time, and nature walks on our spacious grounds.

At Remuda Ranch we teach patients the skills needed to empower them to make the healthy choices required for a longlasting recovery.

REMUDA RANCH LIFE Nestled within the heart of the Arizona desert, Remuda Ranch

is a beautiful place to start the healing process and find hope.

This serene setting, with its majestic vistas, beautiful horses, and

breath-taking sunsets nurture patients as they begin their journey towards recovery.

Christian and spiritual programming are provided with two on-

site services offered every Sunday for those that wish to participate.

We offer our school-age patients challenging curriculum in a

teacher facilitated classroom setting to ensure the continuation of their academic progress during treatment.

Remuda Ranch’s peaceful campus offers patients a healing

environment unlike any other. Large rooms, indoor and outdoor

horse arenas, swimming pool, challenge course, and expansive

areas offer patients a place to connect with others. It is here amongst the lush landscapes that patients are able to focus on the

peace and tranquility that surrounds them while they work with our team to find peace within.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT Family therapy is an indispensable part of recovery from an

eating disorder at any age and integration of family is an essential part of the ground-breaking Roots and Wings Family Program at Remuda Ranch.

Throughout their loved one’s treatment, our experienced staff

maintains contact with the family, preparing both the patient and family for the challenges of returning home and preventing unwanted relapse. Remuda Ranch also offers weekly family

sessions on site or via Skype for those who cannot travel to Wickenburg. Family members join patients at Remuda Ranch

approximately halfway through treatment during our Family

Week Experiential. This includes psychoeducational groups, skill groups and experientials on and off campus designed toward recovery of the family system, not just the person in treatment.

This is a time of learning, growth, change, and forgiveness for

everyone and ensures the transition back to daily life is successful.
