We have had many more university acceptances that I am very excited about. My hearty congratulations go out to the students who have received acceptances as well as scholarships. I would also like to acknowledge our University Counselor, Mrs. Vivian Fiallo, for guiding our students to many prestigious universities.

FROM THE

CAMPUS PRINCIPAL

In the coming months we have some very exciting events scheduled. In April the 9th through 12th grade students will participate in the ISHCMC - American Academy’s first Prom. Prom is short for Promenade and is a formal black tie event hosted in the Grand Ballroom of an exquisite hotel. Most boys will wear tuxedos and the girls wear fashionably elegant dresses. This is a traditional American High School dance normally reserved for Seniors and is held at the end of the school year.

Dear Parents, As you may have recently heard, ISHCMC – American Academy has a new Principal. My name is Eric Hamilton. My wife, Dr. Mary Beth Sanders, and I moved from Colorado, USA, where I have just completed my 20th year of educational experience and leadership excellence. We are excited to be living in Vietnam and greatly appreciate the warm welcome we have received from the people of Ho Chi Minh City.

The upcoming months will also bring opportunities for students to perform on the A Levels and AP exams. While this will be very strenuous and rigorous for students I am confident that we will have high success rates. The students and teachers have worked extremely hard to achieve at high levels.

I enjoyed meeting with you at the Parent Coffee Morning recently, and we look forward to continued partnership with parents on the road to academic success of our students. Many of you at the Parent Coffee meeting were shown how to use Edmodo. This is an excellent portal to monitor your child’s progress and stay informed of upcoming assignments, events, and testing dates. If you are not signed up at this time, I encourage you to.

Regards,

The month of March brought many exciting events that were both fun for students and academically based. The Read Across America assembly promoted reading as a means to educate as well as a recreational activity.

The whole-school Field Trips were a great success. Students came back very excited about the handson learning and application of knowledge in the field. As this was our first over-night field trip, there were some ‘’glitches’’ to be worked out. We will continue to strive for excellence in planning and implementation to ensure a high quality learning experience. -1-
