The School:

The International School Ho Chi Minh City is a private, non-denominational, international school for expatriate and Vietnamese children. Established in 1993, ISHCMC was the first international school to open in Ho Chi Minh City. The campus is situated in the An Phu District about twenty minutes from the centre. As an International Baccalaureate Organization World School, our curriculum is international in focus and is based on the frameworks of the IB Primary Years Programme (Preschool to Grade 5), the IB Middle Years Programme (Grades 6 to 10), and the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12). The school provides a safe, caring environment and a challenging curriculum driven by our mission of “fostering individual ability.”

The high school curriculum (Grades 9 to 12) is guided by the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. All students in Grades 11 and 12 take IB courses. In addition to their six DP courses, students must complete Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) commitments in Grades 11 and 12, coursework in Theory of Knowledge, and an Extended Essay (for IB Diploma candidates). ISHCMC students primarily attend universities in North America, The United Kingdom, Asia and Australia; courses are collegepreparatory in nature.

Grading:

ISHCMC grades on the IB 1-7 scale and does not calculate GPAs for our students. In cases of transfer students, prior courses at other schools are considered in determining passing credits towards graduation only. ISHCMC will attach official records from prior schools but does not take responsibility for verifying their accuracy.
