James completed Loughborough University in 2011 and currently lives and works in Norfolk, England.

A photographer and graphic designer from the city of Monterrey, Mexico. Nydia Lilian, has been featured in select reviews such as: The Creators Project, Empty Kingdom, VICE Mexico, and The Global Panorama. Her work is surreal, like taken out of a dream‌ or a nightmare. She likes to engage the audience creating bizarre, psychedelic compositions, created via digital image manipulation or raw photographic techniques. Between this and a monochromatic point of view, she is always on the lookout for alternative realities inside her own world.

Originally from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, RexChouk’s art is a color driven, graphic and visually impact driven journey. He has been featured in the artist program of Walton Fine Arts Gallery in London, alongside leading international artists in the contemporary pop and fine street art scene. The artist currently lives and works out of his SOHO studio in New York City.

And so THE NOU PROJECT was born After completing her MA in Art Business at Sotheby’s, Nour Al Tamimi met Basma Chidiac; who at the time was attending the fashion design program at Parsons Design School in New York. Soon after, Nour moved to NYC and was instantly inspired by the growth of sneaker culture in the city. So for her final project at Sotheby’s she worked on a concept that combined the two things she had the most appreciation for: art & fashion. A sneaker brand featuring the art works of up-and-coming artists from around the world. Meanwhile, Basma, after having worked at Philip Lim and Marchesa, developed her own aesthetic through her work as a designer. Together they made the perfect team! Nour quickly brought Basma onboard to solidify their ideas into actual design.
And so THE NOU PROJECT was born Step into Art The Nou Project is a platform for collaboration, a bond that forms between designers and artists to produce high quality sneakers that are unique and trendy for both men and women. Buyers can now “collect” footwear as limited edition pieces. Season One brings forth three emerging artists: Nydia Lilian form Mexico, James Rawson from the UK, and Rex Chouk from Saudi Arabia. Each artist is recognized for his or her unique style and approach, and they were chosen for their distinctive and varied creative expression. The limited edition art pieces are hand numbered from 1 to 300, making each pair a truly collectible piece. The high top grain leather structure has been tested and re-tested to reach the final fit and comfort of a padded interior with a luxury exterior. With minimal lines and stitching, the shoe is presented as a ‘blank canvas’, where artwork is carefully and selectively placed by each artist. We have also developed a CLASSIC line where the “blank” canvas model is offered in WHITE, NUDE, and BLACK.
Its all in the tech Another special aspect of TNP is that all shoes come with a special strip of reflective material that lights up when it’s exposed to light. Allowing for maximum visibility in darkness. Additionally, inspired by street asphalt, our soles are made out of grainy recycled rubber, with multi-coloured speckles. This is a brand new innovation, as this material has not been used in this way before. As a result, a new technology was developed to make this sustainable innovation possible, one that provides unparalleled comfort and durability.
Addendum Whether you want to wear them or display them, TNPs are opening new avenues for selfexpression, and for art to be seen, worn and experienced everyday. Nour and Basma will “keep moving,� as they continue their search for new emerging artists in upcoming seasons.
