The program combines learning swim lesson instruction with lifeguarding skills. The first half of each class focuses on water rescues, non-certified CPR/first aid, facility operations, and more. The second half covers ways to assist instructors with teaching swim lessons. Participants can volunteer as a water safety instructor aide during swim lessons after completing the program.
Learn the basics of scuba diving through a structured learning environment and fun activities through a partnership with Aggieland Scuba. No scuba diving experience is necessary, but participants should be comfortable in the water. The program covers basic scuba diving skills, such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask of water, recovering a regulator, and experiencing the sensation of being weightless. You’ll become a recognized PADI Seal Team member after completing the program.
• Children 5-18 years of age on May 1, 2024 and novice swimmers.
• Residents living in College Station Independent School District - any non-resident interested in participating must contact the Aquatics Supervisor (parks@cstx.gov).
