CONSERVE AND PROTECT LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR CONSERVATION EFFORTS!
JANUARY-JULY • 2025
Hey there, College Station Community!
As we enter the new year, we invite you to explore our rebranded Recreation Connection program guide! Behind the scenes, we have been working to create programs that do more than just keep you busy. We want to help you thrive this year.
Recreation Connection is filled with opportunities for personal growth, health, and meaningful connections. Whether you're a sports-loving kid, a fitness enthusiast, or someone looking to meet new people and explore our beautiful green spacesthere's something for everyone.
At the heart of everything we do is connection. We're not just about filling your calendar – we're about creating spaces where you can connect with nature, meet your neighbors, and discover opportunities that bring you joy.
Can't wait to see you out there!
FRONT COVER:
A young nature enthusiast poses with a freshly planted tree at W.A. Tarrow Park in College Station. More than 100 trees were planted at Tarrow Park and Bee Creek Park last February as part of the larger Cooling College Station initiative – a project dedicated to mitigating the effects of urban heat islands within the city. In addition to these conservation efforts, Parks and Recreation has led efforts to secure the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA designation for 34 years.
INSIDE COVER:
Last summer, the inaugural I Heart America Celebration at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater attracted an estimated crowd of 3,000 for live music, food, games, and a fantastic firework and drone show. The event is back this year and will be held on July 4!
Participants 9 years and older must complete the course to hunt in Texas legally. A parent must accompany anyone under 13. On class day, participants must pay $5 in cash to Texas Parks and Wildlife to cover the certificate cost.
