Dear Readers, We delve into the wonderful world of Alice and her Wonderland for our second issue with our brand new look/concept. We definetely feel the issue is much less about being literal and more about the spirit of Alice and her curiousity. We have always been fascinated with fantasy and to have our issue themed “ Let them eat muchsrooms” was only natural for us. We feel the spirit of Alice is something that resignaited with us. Coco has always been about that girly fairy tale vibe. We like to show our readers that vibe through our chosen interviews with like minded creatives as well as editorials that have that whimsy flare.
It’s not always about being literal with us. It’s more about digging deep within the mind and creating something that tells different creative stories through imagery. We hope this issue brings those stories to life.
Love: The Coco Indie Team

IN THE SPIRIT OF ALICE
Our issues are never truly intended to take the themes to the maximum of literal and this issue is no exception. The spirit of Alice and all of her curiousity and child-like naivity is what drew us to the magical story and world of Wonderland in the first place.
Wonderland isn’t always found down a hole or through a mirror but instead can be found in our very own im aginations. In an autumn field, in a park or garden or even in a quaint looking room. Alice’s wonderland can truly be found anywhere if you look deep enough. This issue is dedicated to finding those little Alice mom ents.
For now a short history of little Alice herself and the story that captivaited many of us as children.
The novel named Alice’s Adventures in wonderland written in 1865 by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson better known as Lewis Carroll has been shortened to what we are more familiar with as Alice in Wonderland.
The tale tells a story of a young girl falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasty world. Within the world are many peculiar characters. Whom Alice meets through out her journey into wonderland.
It is popularly believed that the story was inspired by a young girl named Alice Pleasance Liddell whom with three other children were told a story of a young girl named Alice during a long boat ride.
Once the full novel was written it was given to Alice Liddell as a Christmas gift. The book at this time was titled Alice’s Adentures Under Ground. It is said that this origional version has been destroyed after a better version was hand written.
Many of the characters portrayed as well as adventures in the story have been based on or influenced by people, situations and buildings in Carroll’s life. Alice Liddell one of the children Carroll told his story is characterized as Alice in the book. It is also said that Carroll himself is caricatured as the Dodo because he had a stutter when he spoke and the Hatter is based off of a furniture dealer named Theophilus Carter who was well known in Oxford. It is interesting how when we begin to disect a fantasy story that we can sometimes find reality within that fantasy. Merging two worlds together to create something so fantastical. We can now ask ourselves what part of our own lives could be transformed into a wonderland ?
When she's ten feet tall
Go ask Alice
ANd if you go chasing Rabbits
and you know your going to fall

COCO: Tell us about yourself?
L: My name is Olga, I am 26 years old and I am a self-taught fashion designer with my own label named “Lolliko”. I’m totally in love with embroidery, so I studied haute couture embroidery in the Lesage atelier in Paris where I gained excellent experience in the field of my dreams. For “Lolliko” I now make clothes, lingerie and embroidery.
COCO: When and why did you start designing?
L: During my university education I began to participate in many competitions of young fashion designers; it was very good experience and a good school. Almost 2 years ago I created my own fashion project “Lolliko”, which I still work on, and it’s a really precious process for me. It’d be a magic - every girl or woman in my designs feeling herself as someone special; someone who is exactly like a dream.
COCO: What inspires you to create?
L: I am inspired by the forest with its magic which is always more than just trees and flowers. You see darkness and lights, and you can smell the nearest sea. Trees and branches could look like deer or not. People inspire me too – some of them could change your mind, fairytales and old stories with their charm and architecture too – (because my first education is architecture). Culture heritage is important for all of us. You should know a lot to create something that is yours and that’s my goal – to do my best to be perfect. So I do love to use embroidery and to combine different ways of work with tissues. Embroidery is my passion.
COCO: Tell us about your latest collection/work?
L: One of my favorite last projects was “Ballad of a Girl”, which I made with my dear friends. Here, I created “Girl of my dreams”. There is the wind in her hair, secrets in her mind, silence in her look. She is so delicate and beautiful, just like a porcelain doll, but she is a real girl at the same time. I used beads, sequins, silver threads to create subtle patterns by my Luneville embroidery skills. Lace showed her defenselessness, but every flower is stronger than anyone thinks.
COCO: Where can we find/ Purchase your designs?
L: You can find my designs on my lolliko-dream.tumblr.com as well as in https://instagram.com/lolliko_lo/. There are custom-made garments now. Also I am making my own website now.
