Studio 1 Residential Interior Design
Studio 1: Joyner Kitchen and Bath
Project Analysis
During this project, a renovation on an existing home in Austin, Texas was conducted for the Joyner family with a primary focus on the design of the kitchen and master bathroom of the home.
Concept
The design is based on Andy Warhol's "Flowers." This art represents the era of modern art which is the basis of what the clients are looking for in design. The artwork has a sense of vibrancy and energy which fits the client's goal of entertaining guests in the lounge and kitchen areas. The flowers in the piece for in with the organic design of the homes layout to give a more open floor plan rather than closing it off.

Project Analysis
For this project, we were paired into groups of 2 to design three seperate units curated out of recycled shipping containers to create a modular home. The first unit (tasked to my partner Kimberly Cochrane) houses four members of the family, and the second unit housing Mrs Manthy, an elder woman who experienced visual impairments and bad mobility.
Concept and Materiality
The design for the Cortez-Manthey residence is based on the contrasting calmness and chaos of the Stokes waterfall in San Marcos, TX.

Commercial Interior Design
Studio 2: Historic Resturaunt
Project Analysis
During studio 2, we focused on one project throughout the semester which was a renovation of an existing historical building known as the Walter Brennan House in downtown Austin's historic district. We were tasked with designing a non-profit restaurant aimed with a pay-what-you-can model to accomodate people experiencing food insecurities.
Concept
The concept for this restaurant is inspired by Claude Monet's (translated) "The Artist's Garden." The history of the painting and Impressionism is inspiration in maintaining the history of the building while also bringing new modern to the building. When painting buildings, Claude Monet is not one to focus a lot on the building itself. Being able to bring the surrounding environment inside comfortably is how the concept will be implemented. Monet’s paintings and the project site were created around similar times. Monet defied traditional art by creating more modern pieces. He focused on painting outside subjects like his garden.

Studio 3: NEXT Office Design
Project Analysis
During this project, we were set to design an office space for a company called NEXT, A leading global robot consumer company based in Rhode Island, looking to expand to Boston for their new Research and Development Hub. This space was designed to create a more inviting hybrid workspace taking in design considerations after COVID-19 and how to better the workplace environment overall.
Concept
The Cosmic web is the structure in our universe that connects all the astronomical features through gravity and dark matter. The Cosmic Web strives off the many different elements and clusters that have all formed as one powerful super cluster of galaxies and galactic objects. This provides inspiration to the NEXT office design because similarly to an office environment, being able to communicate and collaborate effectively is necessary for a successful company. Creating a comfortable space where people feel productive and confident in their work.

Studio 4 Healthcare Interior Design
Studio 4: Regional Healthcare Center
Project Analysis
During the final studio we worked in teams of two to develop a design for a healthcare center directed to those experiencing mental health issues in the age range of 17-22. This center would be used as an in-patient, out-patient, and wellness center. With an existing shell provided to us, we decided to design our healthcare facility in Austin, Texas, as it is one of America's fastest growing city and also considering through research that Texas is struggling when it comes to providing proper mental health help for people.
Concept
The Regional Healthcare facility will use nature through design to help promote a positive mental and behavioral health growth through the idea of the Lotus. The lotus is a symbol across the world representing purity, overcoming adversity, and rebirth. With positive meanings in nature, it represents a journey from darkness and pain, represented by the muddy pond in which it starts to grow, to the light and wisdom seen in the perfect flower that sits above the water. The Lotus goes through a life cycle of emerging and growth which mimics patients daily routine of starting their day and participating in different therapies. Cafe
