Eternal Light

"Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight. Must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light

But we know that like a candle their lovely light will surely shine, to brighten up another place more perfect more divine.

And in the realm of Heaven where they shine so warm and bright

Our loved ones live forever in God's eternal light"

Auntie we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace.

Tributes

FROM PAT, ANDREA & FAMILY (JAMAICA)

Gone but not forgotten

Mrs Myrtle Simpson was a truly special soul kind-hearted, God-fearing, and full of grace. She had a way of making everyone she met feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it was a warm smile or a word of encouragement, she gave generously from her heart.

But don’t be mistaken Myrtle had a little spice, too. Sharp wit, a twinkle in her eye, and just the right amount of sass to keep things interesting. She lit up every room and left a lasting impression wherever she went

We will miss her deeply Her love, her laughter, and her light will remain with us always Rest in Paradise, Mrs Simpson

FROM LYNN & KEITH MORRISON AND FAMILY (SPAIN)

Sending this tribute with love and fond memories of a beautiful lady my family and I had the greatest pleasure of not only meeting but spending good quality time with, both in the UK and Jamaica mostly in Jamaica sitting on her veranda after dinner watching the sunset and having some lovely conversations and laughs.

Aunt Mercs as we affectionately called her because she was part of our family, was a beautiful soul with a beautiful smile so elegant and classy, she loved our family and we loved her she especially had a fondness for our grandson Louis always praying he would achieve his goals and be happy So many memories too many to mention but will never be forgotten We are so sorry we can't be there to Celebrate her life today but so thankful to have been a part of it

Sending our sincere condolences to all the family at this very sad time Love and respect.

Tributes

FROM MICOLE SIMPSON-PLUMPTRE (NIECE) FROM SINEAD HARRIOTT (GRANDDAUGHTER)

Aunt Myrtle, losing you feels like losing a part of my foundation From 2001 to 2019, growing up right next door to you in Christiana, Manchester, was one of the greatest blessings of my life. You were more than an aunt you were a second mother, a true matriarch, and a shining example of strength, grace, and love. You were my confidant, the one I could talk to about anything whether serious or silly and we shared so many laughs that I’ll hold onto forever Your presence was a comfort and your wisdom, a guide You taught me by the way you lived, how to carry myself with dignity and how to love others deeply. Thank you for every moment, every hug, every prayer, and every joke. I miss you dearly, but your memory will always live on in my heart. Rest well, Aunt Myrtle. I love you endlessly.

Words cannot express the depth to which my soul misses you Thank you for being my friend

I will forever cherish our long talks about everything; time spent in the kitchen, marathons of the show 24 (Good ol Jack!), your guidance and (mostly) instruction (whether requested or not) on how to host guests properly, serve in ministry, build a strong prayer life… how to get the most out of ginger when boiling sorrel, and the importance of buying good shoes: “These are NOT LEATHER!”

FROM

MANDY, PHIL AND FAMILY

Mummy Simpson,

You and Dee have been a pivotal part of my life for many years .Full of grace love and beauty, you took me and Kirstiella under your wing and loved us like your own this included my own family You shone like a beacon through my darkest days and filled our lives with guidance, hope and encouragement -a fearless ,courageous and companionate woman with unwavering devotion in everything you did .Thank you for your love - love you always.

You were fully involved in our lives, and you made us feel fully known You cared deeply about our success and were determined to instil in us qualities that are hard to deny; excellence, grace, and strength

One of a kind, completely aware of your gifts and confident in using them with a spirit of excellence and to a standard that never fell below superior. Focused and self-assured, you approached mighty work with strength, wisdom and tenacity.

You carried yourself with a dignity and self-esteem that were almost unfathomable, and yet you remained truly and deeply humble, always poised to serve and never beyond taking the lower seat It was a divine balance, God-given and Godgraced

My dearest Granny, my dearest friend. I love and miss you so very much. Rest now.

FROM KIRSTIELLA

“Tomorrow never comes,” Grandma used to remind me. She said it to help me hold on to the moments I took for granted. She said it to remind me to be grateful for the time I was in. Today, we are here to remember her in many ways mine is the way she made today feel like a gift.

Tributes

FROM JANET RAYNOR (JAMAICA)

Mrs Simpson, Aunt Mrytle as she was affectionately called was a woman of God. She was a very classy woman. Her walk and her talk were very unique to her affection for everyone. She spoke her truth clearly and listened well She was very humorous I recalled her asking me to put my daughter’s new number in her phone She sternly advised me to put the Dr before her name so her phone could look important Just imagine the laugh we had She was very supportive in every aspect of my wellbeing and when I say supportive, I mean very supportive. This established relationship has left me more grounded in my spiritual and social life. She taught me to socialise with the good, bad and the indifferent. She did offer sound advice in many aspects of my everyday life. I know her dear soul shall rest in peace.

FROM THE MYERS FAMILY

We, the Myers family hold some deep, wonderful memories of the extremely classy, elegant, beautiful Mummy Simpson. The bond went beyond the church, and into her home and family that we were welcomed into.

Her face Her unique voice Her love Her concern Her prayers Her dresses Her hats Her conversations Her laugher Her worship A legend A worrier A woman of God, who will be truly missed

We appreciate the legacy, the example, the foundation, and the expectations set out for all who were blessed to be in her presence, directed by her faith in God.

May her soul rest in peace. Until we meet again. Love always.

FROM DIONNE MYERS-FRANKS AND FAMILY

Mother Simpson was music, prayer, laughter and family She was a big part of my childhood and has left a lasting impression. I send my love and sincere condolences to all in and connected to the Simpson family. May God give you peace and strength

FROM BRIANNA WEHRLE (GRANDDAUGHTER)

Even though we were all the way over in Canada, Grandma still managed to make us feel so loved and cherished She truly was a magnificent woman, a class act in every sense I can only pray that I will be able to live up to her example and be as wonderful a wife, mother, and person as she was.

Rest in peace Grandma.

FROM HANNAH MONTROSE

Navigating this world without your physical presence is tough, but I feel you everywhere. The covering of protection and love you placed over us, will always remain Other than Mum, you were the one constant in my life You looked pass the tough exterior, and always knew how to bring out my soft side I’m going to miss hearing “my Hannah Pannah” every time you saw me. I’m going to miss your hugs, your smile; your voice. I owe you everything Grandma, after all you did give me that music gene. I’ll love you forever and forever. Your “Hannah Pannah”.

FROM TAYE HAUGHTON (GRANDSON)

Thank you for always believing in and encouraging my aspirations From my love of art to my educational achievements and in more recent years, my career. I hope to honour your legacy by giving every opportunity my all. Rest in peace, Grandma

Tributes

FROM DAYNE HAUGHTON (GRANDSON)

Aside from the important role she played in raising me and my siblings, Grandma was always a shining example of what it means to be graceful and kind; so much so that I never saw her treat anyone unfairly or act out of character. A true inspiration, she was the most upstanding and unwavering person I have ever known.

Even though every Birthday and Christmas will never be the same, I will cherish the moments we shared forever

FROM THE HAUGHTON FAMILY

This tribute comes from the Haughton family as we remember our dearest Mummy Simpson.

This sweet, beautiful woman of God, entered our lives as Paul's mother-in-law and was instantly loved by the whole family. And as we were from COGIC Aston we were thrilled to have a connection to COGIC Luton.

Mummy Simpson returned the love and would always have some good words of encouragement and I know she made it her duty to constantly keep the Haughton’s in her prayers

Our love and thoughts are with the entire Simpson family at this difficult time Rest in Eternal Peace Mummy Simpson

FROM AMANI SIMPSON (GRANDSON)

Myrtle Evadney Simpson - Grandma she is to me! A kind and loving Grandmother who not only stretched out her arms to cook for us, but also her demonstrated her love whenever we were in her company My Grandma would go beyond mere physical care and stretch out her faith in Christ to give spiritual care through the constant prayers lifted up for us Grandma she is to me!

Natural, yes, but also a spiritual Grandma who, just like Timothy’s Grandmother in the Bible (2 Timothy 1:5, 3:14-17), has left an impact on me that transcends far beyond this world through the faith in Christ that dwells in her; assuredly, it was through Grandma that, from a young age, I first became acquainted with God’s word which says: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1) - words that have since then made me wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus! Praise God!… Grandma she is to me!

A disciplinarian Grandma who would whip us all into shape if she caught us acting out of line and would teach us in a very simple way: “if you can’t hear then you must feel” Don’t you dare mess around mid-prayer or you will feel the wrath of Grandma come down ‘pon you’!

One thing I know, is that everything she did was from the love she had for us, true love she had for us, and true love she gave to all her grandchildren

Grandma she is to me, and through her faith in Christ, she still lives on:

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” (John 11:25-26)

THE MORRISON FAMILY

The Morrison family expresses our deepest gratitude for Aunt Merks and the unbreakable bond our families have shared. From the very beginning, with the beautiful bond between my Mum, Deaconess Morrison, and Aunt Merks, our families have always supported one another. When Mr. Simpson and Aunt Merks moved back to Jamaica, it was a relief to know they’d be there with my parents. My Dad helped with the house’s building, acting as their eyes and voice with contractors until their arrival After the death of my Dad, Aunt Merks was a source of strength, kindness, and compassion Her home was a sanctuary for us, bringing us together in warmth when we needed it most Aunt Merks was everything we cherish in family loving, kind, and thoughtful We carry her legacy of love in our hearts, and it will live on forever With love and gratitude FROM

Tributes

FROM SIS NUGENT

I met Myrtle when she was living at Brook Street in 1957, a long time. I looked after her children once she moved to Beechwood Road, I used to make sure they washed out the milk bottles good before they were collected, they didn’t like it. We lived our lives together, raised our children together.

We were there when the church started in a 4 bedroom house under Bishop Ashmead. We have always been friends

FROM DANA

HAUGHTON (DAUGHTHER)

Mum, I thank you for your unfaltering love, your grace, your forgiveness, your patience. I thank you for the guidance you gave me, the advice you always thought I didn’t take - “take my foolish advice” you would always say.

FROM DANA HAUGHTON (GRANDDAUGHTER)

Your tender care was always there, your comfort and guidance you would forever share Your love and kindness will somehow remind us, that you’re still here, just not around us I love you Grandma with all my heart and want you to know, you were the best and I never wanted you to depart.

Rest in eternal peace Grandma from your Boo-boo.

We shared a sense of style and were the first to wear our hair straight to church, in those days we got into so much trouble about it as it wasn’t the done thing- but we started it!

The way you nurtured my children as if they were your own. You made life look so easy, bouncing back after every disappointment, trial and tribulation. Your trust and faith in God was unmatched.

She was a nice lady, very friendly She always looked after you, always fed people. She always called me ‘chuck chuck’, God bless you Merks! God always provided for us: “For God so loved the world that her gave his only begotten son”

John 3:16

If only I could feed you one more meal, have one more conversation, laugh with you, kiss your cheek one last time

The real difficulty for me is saying goodbye not only to my best friend, but to a part of myself that only existed in you Mum, everything I am, I owe it to you.

I love you Mum, sleep on now and take your heavenly rest.

FROM ALEXEI WEIG (GRANDSON)

Grandma gave me my first introduction to Lord Jeshua Whenever I went up to stay at her house, at bedtime she brought me to her room and read to me from the King James Bible, and we would kneel and recite Psalm 23 together I am forever grateful to Grandma Myrtle for all that she's done for me and for so many others in her powerful life; and I look forward to her big warm embrace again when I see her in God's kingdom.

FROM JENNIFER JOHNSON (JAMAICA)

Dearest Aunt Myrtle, I wasn't in Jamaica when you relocated back to England, so didn't get to say goodbye, but thanks be to God, we never lost touch. You took the place of a Mother in my life, you showed me love and kindness. Your faith and belief in the goodness of God was unwavering. I count myself blessed to have known you. You have ran your race, you kept the faith, so sleep on my friend and take your rest. I will always love you From your adopted Niece, Jen

Tributes

FROM KAMAL SIMPSON (GRANDSON)

I can't think about Grandma without a big smile showing up on my face. Her radiance was so joyful that it was impossible for anyone to be around her and to not be filled with joy themselves.

Growing up there was nothing I looked forward to more than spending a weekend with her. The amount of love, sincerity and faith that emenated from her is unmatched by anyone I've ever come to know and I've always felt deeply grateful that God blessed me with somebody who was unquestionably the best Grandma in the world

She was a woman of such unshakeble faith. She had unshakeable faith in God, unshakeable faith in all whom she loved and as her grandson she had unshakeable faith in me.

Last year I was by her side when I received news of landing a big acting job and I said the words "I can't believe it" She immediately snapped back at me with the words "I can. I can." That reflection of belief, love and conviction was always there in my Grandma and I would not be the man I am today without her influence

The impact she made throughout my life is still well and truly alive in me today and will be with me always until the day comes that I see her again in heaven I love you Grandma, thank you so much for being the embodiment of love, life and joy. Thank you so much for being my Grandma

Tributes

FROM RAEHBEN MONTROSE (GRANDSON)

Grandma, I loved you deeply You were my teacher in the everyday things that have stayed with me for life You showed me how to eat chicken properly – “Pick up the chicken and let your mouth find the meat,” you’d say with a smile You taught me how to iron with care and purpose But more than that, you taught me how to live

You reminded me, always, that “We Simpsons don’t do things by halves” – a lesson in pride, strength, and giving our all, no matter what we face

Thank you for the wisdom, the laughter, and the unshakeable faith you carried so gracefully. Through your love of God, you gave us all something beautiful to hold on to. Until we meet again – with love always.

I first met Mummy Simpson (Mum) in 1992 at a very pivotal time in my life. I had recently moved to study in Luton and shortly after meeting Dana she introduced me to her Mum and Dad. They welcomed me into their family and household and I felt at home.

Mum reminded me so much of my own Mother in so many ways, principally Mum’s indefatigable faith in God, which was the foundation of the way she loved each member of her family individually and the importance Mum placed on living as a family.

As my relationship with Dana grew, we would come to rely on Mum who was always on hand to provide sage advice. The bond Mum had with our children was special. They loved having their Grandma around and Mum brought so much love and humour to our household. She taught them how to pray and to trust in the Lord.

As we contemplate our lives without Mum I am grateful for her life and the profound impact she has made to my life Rest in eternal peace Mum, and you will rise in glory

Tributes

My grandma was a woman of so so many talents She had the inhuman ability to know exactly how to solve any problem that came her way Every time her boundless wisdom was put on display, she would look at me, smiling ear to ear, while pulling on her grey hairs as if to tell me “I know what I’m doing” To me, Grandma was a source of comfort, refuge, support, and teaching. For all of the things that I have learned from her, I am extremely grateful for. Thank you Grandma, and goodbye.

FROM

My earliest clear memory of my mother is age five when she walked me to school for my first day. From that day on Mum did everything she could to care for my needs.

I was continuously trying to play an old piano that we had, so she paid for me to have piano lessons. From memory this was 10 shillings an hour, that’s 50p in today’s money, but a fortune in yesterday’s money.

I remember a period when I was fascinated by origami – making objects from paper folding. One Christmas she bought rolls and rolls of crepe paper and left me in the living room with the paper to make Christmas decorations. A few hours later she came back in to find me in the middle of the room surrounded by what can only be described as a mess.

One of the last memories I have of Mum is when my wife Donna and I travelled down to see her in the rehabilitation centre Mum was mobile, incredibly chatty and happy to see us We spent three hours reminiscing and even had a bible quiz using her iPad Needless to say, she won She was so happy

God bless you Mum

Myrtle
