Little girl unloved Do not cry any more tears. You know not your father, And your mother loves only herself. Do not worry little one, For one day, I will love you. You see, you are me, and I will love you once I am grown. Do not sit at that corner and wait, Because no one is coming to find you. But you see, there is hope… For in the future, I will find myself. Your hurt deep inside will cause pain for years and years, But it will help me to realize just how far I’ve come. Fear not little girl that no one will ever love us Because loving myself is all that matters. You have not heard the words many times before, So I am here to say… Cry no more tears today because I love you.

Mars. Sing me a song. Your cry isn’t artificial. Your blinking light isn’t man-made. I see you in the darkness. The same way the moon calls out. And though she is closer, I can hear you just fine. Mars. Play me a symphony. Let the whole world know how loud you can be. Fill the space between your friendly stars and shatter the rules of sound. Crash your cymbals; whine your violin. Fill every sky with the voice of your night cries. Mars. Look me in the eyes. I watch you every night. I look for you everywhere. I call to you at every chance. I want your song. I hear your calls. I look up and reach, but only grasp an empty shout. Mars. I am in love. With the lonely heart you display the world. With the dreams that died on the way to reach you. With all your lonely and lovely red storms. Mars. You are so kind. When you watch over me at night. When you show up only to remind me you still hold hope. When you fuel my bravery. My bleeding and beating red heart. Mars. My oldest friend. You watched me grow and prosper. You cared for the child and you care for me now. You were patient for years. Watching and waiting. And I didn’t see you. Not until now. You and I, we’ve waited so long. So, please, I ask of you now. Mars. Sing me a song.
