Hundreds of people read this magazine every month and tell me they love it. You may call this bragging, but I have a point to make. People do love CHOPS, but the ones who advertise, seem to never look at it. They take it for granted their ad will be there, and it always is, but they don’t look at it, much less read the magazine. I’m sure there are some exceptions. But why do I mention this? Because they don’t see all the extra stuff I put in the mag concerning their business. If they would or did, maybe they would understand the importance of advertising.

Advertising should be the last thing to go when trying to save money. Readers see your ad, and then “poof” it’s gone, so they think you are out of business or slowing down, and maybe closing. Roger from the Patch told me advertising in all mags was a waste of money, but apparently he was just speaking of mine. I disagreed with him. National mags are the ones not getting out as much because of the high cost of printing, mailing, etc., but NOT the local ones. Why? Because..Pg.11

they’re Free! National mags are out of sight on cost, with most not making any money, simply because the manufacturing cost has increased so much, they have no choice.

I don’t know nor care what other locals charge for ads, but I know that I give everyone more than they pay for, for example; a business size ad is suppose to be $100, I’ve been giving folks 1/2 page ads for a hundred. Why? Because I want to help them all I can.

Local magazines are NOT dead, and thousands grab them monthly, 1st to see if their pics is in it, and 2ndly to read it, especially if it’s entertaining, such as stories, etc. The SAD thing is, the majority of advertisers won’t see nor read this either. God bless, Cochise

“As far as the egg shortage, what’s also contributing to that is that the Biden administration and the Department of Agriculture directed the mass killing of more than 100 million chickens, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore, a lack of egg supply, which is leading to the shortage,” she said. “So, I will leave you with this point: This is an example of why it’s so incredibly important that the Senate moves swiftly to confirm all of President Trump’s nominees, including his nominee for the United States Department of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, who is already speaking with Kevin Hassett, who’s leading the economic team here at the White House, on how we can address the egg shortage in this country.” Karoline Leavitt

“A Cool Biker Bar In The County”

“A Great Great Ride To & Thru The County”

When I met her, she was pretty cool. Younger, pretty, popular, and had some brains.

We got on pretty well, and was a fresh look for a ragged boy like I was. A hard drinking, biker, auto mechanic, ex Army draftee. We met at a party, which I was invited to. Almost didn’t go, but at the last minute, I started searching for the place. It was hard to find, but I knew the people throwing the deal were big time into Tropical Fish. And on a quiet side street, on the front porch, was a few big glowing fish tanks, so I figured that was the place. I parked the Panhead at the curb, and pulled a 6pak of Colt 45 out of the saddle bag. I always brought 45 to parties, because no one liked it, and didn’t grab it out of the ice, everyone drank Bud, or Coors back then. She was there, was supposed to meet another guy, but he wasn’t her type at all. I knew him, and had some past issues with him myself. I didn’t like him, and the feeling was mutual.

So we got to talking, and it went well. She was a head taller than me, and she teased me about that. My standard answer was a ladder is easy to climb when it’s lying down.

We dated and in four short months we married. It lasted 25 years. It’s strange how people change as years go by. I tried to get her to sit on my bike, so I could take a few pictures. It had fresh paint, new chrome, and a top end job. New double ring white walls. But she wouldn’t. She was afraid of it, that the beast would fall over. “Its leaning over!” She said. Never would consider riding with me. To dangerous.

Add 20 years of life, living, the ups & downs of marriage, jobs, kids, and to many out of state moves. We both changed. She engineered the purchase of the 84FXWG, I still own, and rode many miles with me, with a carefree, FTW attitude, hands free, smoking her Kool cigarette.

Leather Weather. Well, the happy hoopla of the holidays is over. We’re a month into a new year and a new administration. Thank God!! The New Years’ resolutions have already been broken and forgotten, (till next year), the unwanted gifts have been returned, the visiting family have all gone home, and the Christmas decorations have been safely returned to the attic where they can mysteriously entangle themselves again for the next time you drag them out. We Love the holidays, but Thank Goodness it’s only once a year.

Now what? Well, for us it’s pretty much business as usual. We’re planning some of our next rides, of course! Although one of the downsides of riding in January, at least for us, is the temperatures have fallen as they do every year. But this year they seemed to have fallen a bunch! So it’s time for Florida’s Winter to set in, right? Typically some forties and fifties, then jumps back to the low eighties. A few more fifties and then it climbs up to mid or even upper eighties and Old Man Winter is gone for the year. But this year began a little differently. Thirties and forties here, but twenties and teens north of us! Snow across the top of Florida for days on end?! What the heck?! So much for “The Sunshine State” and “Global Warming”!!

O.K., back to the rides. We recently embarked on a journey we haven’t made in some time. Headed out towards Paisely, home of the Pirate’s Pub. (For those of you who haven’t chased this route before or maybe it’s been awhile, Highway forty four west out of Deland to Highway forty two, first light west of the St. Johns River, right onto forty two and just enjoy the scenery.) This time however we buzzed right past “The Pub”, (as hard as that was), and aimed the

the front wheel towards Wiersdale. Don’t worry, Highway forty two runs right smack dab through Wiersdale so you don’t have to look for it, you can’t miss it.

As soon as Highway forty two bangs into Highway twenty five, hang a right. After you’ve left eight or ten miles or so behind you, you’ll see Ma Barker’s Bar on your right. Yes, the namesake of the Ma Barker Gang from way back in the thirties I believe. Lots of history there and worth the stop just for that. Within eyesight of Ma’s front parking lot to your right and across the street, you’ll notice a sign for Gator Joe’s.

Left at the sign and roll with the asphalt till it stops and guides you right into Gator’s parking lot. Nestled right on Lake Wier, a restaurant and bar that’s second to none!

But beware, you may see bikes and cars in the front parking lot, but off of the rear deck you may encounter boats and even a seaplane or two tied up at the edge of the lake! What a Great view regardless of the vehicles! And what a Great view even though it’s.......................Leather Weather Gregg Riggle

Burt Mustin, with his trademark white hair and distinctive voice, had one of Hollywood’s most unique careers, especially given that he started acting in his 60s. Born in 1884 in Pittsburgh, Mustin didn’t initially pursue acting. Instead, he led a remarkably full life: he was a salesman, worked in the newspaper industry, and even volunteered for the local amateur theater. It wasn’t until 1951, when he was 67 years old, that his acting career officially took off

after director William Wyler discovered him in a theater production and cast him in Detective Story.

From there, Mustin became one of the most recognizable character actors in Hollywood. His appearances on classic TV shows became a hallmark of mid-century American television, making him an iconic “TV grandfather” figure. He was featured in Leave It to Beaver as Gus the fireman, and on The Andy Griffith Show, All in the Family, The Twilight Zone, and even Batman — all beloved shows where he brought warmth, humor, and an unforgettable presence to his roles.

Even more fascinating, Mustin’s acting career extended for 25 years, allowing him to work until nearly 93 years old, an impressive feat in the industry. He appeared in over 150 television episodes and films, often playing older men, though he brought a vibrancy to each character that audiences loved. Off-screen, Mustin was known for his friendliness and his love of golf, which he played regularly well into his later years. His passion for acting, combined with his late-in-life career start, makes Burt Mustin a true Hollywood legend who proved it’s never too late to begin a new journey.

TRUMP DOES THE UNTHINKABLE.

As an entertainment journalist, I’ve had the opportunity to cover Trump for over a decade, and in all my years covering him I’ve never heard anything negative about the man until he announced he was running for president. Keep in mind, I got paid a lot of money to dig up dirt on celebrities like Trump for a living so a scandalous story on the famous billionaire could’ve potentially sold a lot of magazines and would’ve been a Huge feather in my cap.

Instead, I found that he doesn’t drink alcohol or do drugs, he’s a hardworking businessman. On top of that, he’s one of the most generous celebrities in the world with a heart filled with more gold than his $100 million New York penthouse.

Since the media has failed so miserably at reporting the truth about Trump, I decided to put together some of the acts of kindness he’s committed over three decades which has gone virtually unnoticed or fallen on deaf ears.

In 1986, Trump prevented the foreclosure of Annabell Hill’s family farm after her husband committed suicide. Trump personally phoned down to the auction to stop the sale of her home and offered the widow money. Trump decided to take action after he saw Hill’s pleas for help in news reports.

In 1988, a commercial airline refused to fly Andrew Ten, a sick Orthodox Jewish child with a rare illness, across the country to get medical care because he had to travel with an elaborate life-support system. His grief-stricken parents contacted Trump for help and he didn’t hesitate to send his own plane to take the child from Los Angeles to New York so he could get his treatment.

In 1991, 200 Marines who served in Operation Desert Storm spent time at Camp Lejune in North Carolina before they were scheduled to return home to their families. However, the Marines were told that a mistake had been made and an aircraft would not be able to take them home on their scheduled departure date. When Trump got wind of this, he sent his plane to make two trips from North Carolina to

Miami to safely return the Gulf War Marines to their loved ones. In 1995, a motorist stopped to help Trump after the limo he was traveling in got a flat tire. Trump asked the Good Samaritan how he could repay him for his help. All the man asked for was a bouquet of flowers for his wife. A few weeks later Trump sent the flowers with a note that read: We’ve paid off your mortgage.

In 1996, Trump filed a lawsuit against the city of Palm Beach , Florida, accusing the town of discriminating against his Mar-a-Lago resort club because it allowed Jews and blacks. Abraham Foxman, who as the Anti-Defamation League Director at the time, said Trump put the light on Palm Beach not on the beauty and the glitter, but on its seamier side of discrimination. Foxman also noted that Trump’s charge had a trickle-down effect because other clubs followed his lead and began admitting Jews and blacks.

In 2000, Maury Povich featured a little girl named Megan who struggled with Brittle Bone Disease on his show and Trump happened to be watching. Trump said the little girl’s story and positive attitude touched his heart. So he contacted Maury and gifted the little girl and her family with a very generous check.

In 2008, after Jennifer Hudson’s family members were tragically murdered in Chicago , Trump put the Oscar-winning actress and her family up at his Windy City hotel for free. In addition to that, Trump’s security took extra measures to ensure Hudson and her family members were safe during such a difficult time.

In 2013, New York bus driver Darnell Barton spotted a woman close to the edge of a bridge staring at the traffic below as he drove by. He stopped the bus, got out and put his arm around the woman and saved her life by convincing her to not jump. When Trump heard about this story, he sent the hero bus driver a check simply because he believed his good deed deserved to be rewarded.

In 2014, Trump gave $25,000 to Sgt. Andrew Tamoressi after he spent seven months in a Mexican jail for accidentally crossing the US-Mexico border. President Barack Obama couldn’t even be bothered to make one phone call to assist with the United States Marine’s

release; however, Trump opened his pocketbook to help this serviceman get back on his feet.

In 2016, Melissa Consin Young attended a Trump rally and tearfully thanked Trump for changing her life. She said she proudly stood on stage with Trump as Miss Wisconsin USA in 2005. However, years later she found herself struggling with an incurable illness and during her darkest days, she explained that she received a handwritten letter from Trump telling her she’s the bravest woman, I know. She said the opportunities that she got from Trump and his organizations ultimately provided her Mexican-American son with a full-ride to college.

Lynne Patton, a black female executive for the Trump Organization, released a statement in 2016 defending her boss against accusations that he’s a racist and a bigot. She tearfully revealed how she’s struggled with substance abuse and addiction for years. Instead of kicking her to the curb, she said the Trump Organization and his entire family loyally stood by her through immensely difficult times.

Donald Trump’s kindness knows no bounds and his generosity has and continues to touch the lives of people from every sex, race, and religion. When Trump sees someone in need, he wants to help.

Two decades ago, Oprah asked Trump in a TV interview if he’d ever run for president. He said: “If it got so bad, I would never want to rule it out totally because I really am tired of seeing what’s happening with this country.’”

That day has come. Trump sees that America is in need and he wants to help. How unthinkable! On the other hand, have you ever heard of Hillary or Obama ever doing such things with their own resources? Now that’s really unthinkable! Might be worth passing on!!!

Just shows we hired the right guy. If Hollywood , the liberals and the media ever STOP harassing him, Trump will have time to do many more positive things for our country....the good ole United States of America!!

PS ~ To those who are already Fact Checking, don’t bother . . . already did it, and all the stories are TRUE! The Liberal, progressive, socialists want to destroy this guy.
