PRESIDENT FRANK MARKS’ ADDRESS TO AGM 2019

The 2018 – 2019 year has been an exciting and challenging one for COA. Seven months ago, our new CEO, Rachel Tanny, took up her position, replacing the legendary Julia Golding OAM who had held the position for 34 years. I am pleased to report that Julia has remained with COA, performing a valuable role concentrating on membership care, membership services, and bequests. As I said at Julia’s formal farewell she is truly an “Eischet Chayil”.

Since becoming President, I have sought to increase communal awareness of the wonderful work of COA, and to enhance our status as a member of the Sydney Jewish community of organisations. We are participating actively with JCA, the Board of Deputies, and I am liaising on a personal level with senior members of the executives of a number of communal organisations where synergies are possible, all designed to increase

No community organisation can flourish without the commitment and support of its members. We are a volunteer-based organisation. Without our volunteers COA could not operate. They are involved in every aspect of our organisation including helping out with activities, assisting in the distribution and delivery of Kosher Meals-on-Wheels, transporting members, personal attention to individual members, and the facilitation of all aspects of our operations including; Rachel has hit the ground running and has been administration, finances, functions, and asset instrumental in re-examining the operations of our management. We are blessed to have hundreds of wonderful organisation and putting in place many new enthusiastic efficient and expert volunteers, and on behalf of all of us we thank you for everything that you processes and procedures designed to ensure that we deliver on our promise to provide a large range of do, and for the energetic, enthusiastic way in which you services and programs for older members of our Sydney, do it.
