The romance and elegance of The Orchards Event Venue is unparalleled in the Gulf Coast area. Located just outside of Pensacola, the venue is lavish with natural beauty and unique history. The 72 acres of natural décor include a private road lined with hickory trees, a tranquil pond, immaculate lawns, and a secret garden. In addition, The Orchards is developing a property that gazes upon a romantic vineyard with rolling hills on the horizon. The venue’s unique backdrop is embellished with historical features such as the Louisiana-crafted prodigious fountains, Italian-sculpted Greek statues, floor-to-ceiling windows from an old New Orleans hotel, and courtyard bricks constructed from a former factory in Chicago.
Cynthia Farrar’s family purchased the property in winter of 2021, promptly making changes and additions to enhance the land’s beauty. As the owner, the property is how she pursues entrepreneurial undertakings & channels her creativity. Farrar has hosted not-for-profit fundraisers and corporate events giving her the business experience and passion to naturally transition to and successfully run a wedding venue. The Orchards team takes pride in their efforts to transform the spaces into a magical place for each couples’ ceremony. Unlike most venues, they book only one wedding per weekend to ensure couples enjoy every moment without feeling rushed. “Every couple is different, and, as such, none of The Orchards weddings are the same either,” Farrar states. “I love to be able to take the time to learn about each couple and what makes them and their relationship unique. This allows me to direct them to the best ceremony and reception locations on our property and make this the wedding of their dreams.”
On downtown Pensacola’s Garden Street, you’ll find a well-kept wedding secret that is both modern and historic. Perfect Plain Brewing, Garden & Grain, and The Well are an unforgettable collection of bars that serve as unique event spaces.
HIDDEN HISTORY:
The grounds for Garden & Grain were once mapped by British officer Elias Durnford in 1742 to serve as a place for a Pensacola family garden. The Grainhouse, a former horse stable and feed & seed warehouse in the early 1900s, has been transformed into a sleek and vibrant private event space.
THE VIBE:
Located between the Grainhouse and the Perfect Plain taproom, Garden & Grain is lush and tropical. It includes an immersive garden sanctuary that produces fresh ingredients found in their craft cocktails. The Well is Pensacola’s newest Floridian hospitality space. It balances modern Florida and historic Pensacola, while dripping with luxury and sophistication.
Versatility! Rich in history, Garden & Grain is a charming backdrop that is ready to transform into the wedding of your dreams. Energy! From the moment you step foot into Garden & Grain,
you can feel the light and whimsical energy it exudes. Lively couples celebrate their marriage while they enjoy craft cocktails, craft beer, and even a moment to chug a pint at the altar. Memorable Moments! Wanting to enjoy a craft beer promptly after saying ‘I Do’? Dreaming of custom beer steins? Planning a one-ofa-kind cocktail or signature drink menu? The options are endless when it comes to planning iconic moments at a specialty event space designed to host your memories!

There are a lot of myths out there about the bridal shopping experience. The Bridal Loft’s team of expert stylists is here to debunk some of the most common myths!
MYTH: “There’s plenty of time to shop.”
Many brides underestimate how long it takes to place a gown order. It can take 6-8 months for a wedding gown order to be fulfilled. And, you will still want some time factored in for any alterations! If you are able to, dress shopping should begin about 8-12 months ahead of the wedding date.
Don’t stress if your timeline is quicker than that! Most bridal salons offer discounted sample gowns that can be purchased off the rack. This selection of dresses can be taken home the same day. Your consultant may also be able to check in with designers to see what options could ship sooner for you!
Remember to allow yourself enough time to find accessories and place orders for those as well! No matter your timeline, your bridal consultants are here to help!
MYTH: “ I should stick to a specific silhouette based on my body type.”
We’ve all seen illustrations of bridal silhouettes paired with body shapes. And while it’s true that each silhouette impacts your frame in different ways, you can wear whatever the heck you want. Really. As long as you feel comfortable and confident, you can pull off any look, style, or shape that you desire!
Realistically, I know that we are each intune with our own insecurities. So maybe that means you’re looking for a dress with sleeves, and that’s perfectly okay. But I’m here to tell you that you don’t need sleeves, you don’t need a specific neckline. What you DO need is a dress that makes you smile, details you can’t live without, and the confidence that you found the right look for YOU!
All this to say, unlearn everything you’ve absorbed regarding what you are “supposed to wear,” and enjoy the journey of discovering what you are excited to wear. You got this!
...Not necessarily.
But if crying isn’t always the indicator, then how do you know when to say “Yes!” to the dress? That is the million dollar question. While picking your wedding dress can be an extremely difficult decision, there are several indicators that the dress may be the one.
• You don’t want to take the dress off!
• You keep coming back to the same dress after trying on others
• You can’t stop looking at yourself in the mirror while you’re in it
• You feel comfortable and confident
• You can imagine yourself walking down the aisle or dancing the night away in it
• You can’t help but imagine your fiance’s reaction when they see you for the first time
• You get excited thinking about seeing the dress in your precious wedding photos for years to come
Television shows lead us to believe that the “Yes!” moment is an eruption of emotion- tears, cheers, you name it.
Sometimes, that is how the moment is for brides.
Typically, the way a bride declares her “Yes” is a reflection of her personality. A lot of brides announce that they’ve found their gown by a confident “this is the one” or a smiling “yep, I love it.”
Refrain from comparing your ‘yes’ moment to the experiences of others.
Your decision is as unique as you are!
Be confident in it and own it!
While the traditional black tuxedo style is always a classic look, sometimes brides and grooms want a little extra flair in their wedding party! With the addition of a colorful suit, brides and grooms can create a modern twist on their wedding day and pull in their wedding colors at the same time. Whether that be a light blue suit or a green suit or something in-between, with a colored suit you are sure to make an impression and look back on some memorable photographs from your special day.
Sometimes grooms will choose to wear something more traditional to the wedding ceremony, and then change into something more colorful for the reception! If brides can do it, so can grooms!
Whether you are just beginning your wedding journey or have dreamed of the special day, you have probably heard the traditional English rhyme “something old”. The British folklore recites items that a bride should include on her wedding to symbolize prosperity, fertility, and fidelity. We’ve come a long way since the 1800s, but the rhyme has continued to have
Something Old: A pearl necklace from Madelyn’s paternal grandmother
Something New: A pair of pearl studded, floral embroidered boots
Something Borrowed: A broach pendant from Madelyn’s Maternal Grandmother
Something Blue: An embroidered handkerchief from Madelyn’s mother
“These pieces were special to me in many ways because many of the items came from women in my family.”

Velvet tuxedos have been a classic staple in the men’s formal wear world for decades. Cary Grant helped to popularize the look of a velvet tuxedo jacket paired with traditional wool tuxedo trousers in 1960.
Over 60 years later, famous stars such as John Legend, Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Timberlake have reintroduced the classic look for modern times. John Legend even went as far as pairing his velvet tuxedo jacket with matching velvet trousers.
Celebrities have long been known to push fashion to the forefront and establish trends, and the velvet tuxedo is no different! Velvet is an interesting twist on the traditional tuxedo that could make your wedding style stand out in all the right ways!

For centuries, pearls have served as a symbol of wisdom, growth, and transformation. It has been said that a single pearl in itself is beautiful, but a pearl joined by others forms something much more beautiful. For engaged couples, pearls may symbolize both the journey of the couple’s relationship to their wedding day, as well as the community and family that has supported them and joined them in celebration.
Withstanding the test of time, pearls have been passed down from generation to generation. The rising generation of soon-to-be-weds are embracing a fun spin on the classic strand of pearls, while honoring the historic symbolism it brings. Some of the new ways to adorn the beloved pearl is on veils, gloves, jackets, and even sneakers!

Randall’s Formal Wear has been fitting women in men’s tuxedos for decades. Now with the rise of the tuxedo tailored specifically for women, we are even more equipped to fit women in tuxes!
When a traditional bridal gown just doesn't cut it for your style, why not think outside the box and dress yourself in a tuxedo tailored for the female form?
With so many colors and designs to choose from including ivory, white, black, and navy blue, a bridal tuxedo is an amazing alternative to a formal wedding gown! There are countless ways to make your wedding outfit your own. You can pair a classic black tuxedo jacket with white or ivory pants, or go all the way with a pair of black pants.
Most designers of women's tuxedos offer a matching vest (pictured here is a floral design on a vest from Mark of Distinction's Sophia tuxedos), that can be worn with the tuxedo for a complete 3-piece look. You can wear a beautiful, flowy blouse open-collar with no tie with a women's tuxedo for an additional feminine touch, or wear a matching tie and go all out!
Under new ownership, The Bridal Loft is expanding designers and styles to appeal to all brides and couples, ensuring a style that is true to you! We now carry unique bridal suits in our shop.

Everything The Bridal Loft brides think you should know before the big day!
1) What was your favorite part of your wedding?
I would have to say my favorite part of my wedding day was the ceremony. The two moments that really were special and memorable in the ceremony were when we brought the flowers to the Virgin Mary statue while Ave Maria was playing in the background as well as receiving the Eucharist for the first time as a married couple.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day? Quality over Quantity. It doesn’t matter how many bridesmaids or groomsmen you have. At the end of the day sometimes just having one bridesmaid is enough to get you through the day. I was very lucky to have the maid of honor I did. She was there for me through thick and thin. She also brought me back to Earth sometimes when I was being a bridezilla, and she constantly reminded me that it was my day and to not let anyone stand in the way.
3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
The wedding is all about you and your spouse. Don’t let anyone convince you to do things you don’t want to do. Realize that you don’t have to be wedding planning every second of the day. Take those long weekend breaks with your future spouse and do something that you both are interested in doing to take your mind off of wedding planning.
1) What was your favorite part of your wedding? My favorite part of the entire day has to be walking down the aisle to Steven. All the nerves, all the planning, and all the stress just made sense when walking down the aisle. Nothing else mattered in the world but getting down to him and getting to say “I do”.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day?
I wish I knew how fast it truly went. Everybody constantly tells you it goes by in the blink of an eye and they truly mean it. One minute you’re getting ready with your girls and the next you’re off with your husband headed to your hotel. Take 5 minutes to sit down at your head table or stand outside looking in and just soak in that everybody is there to celebrate your love!

3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
My number one self care tip is do not stress the small details. I know it’s easier said than done but nobody knows what details you had planned
except you. If something small doesn’t happen the day-of it’s going to be okay, no one will know. Also, the moment things start to get overwhelming, whether it’s planning or the 1000 outside opinions (don’t listen, stay true to yourself), take a step back, take deep breaths, and remember at the end of the day the details are just that, details. The entire purpose of the day is to walk down that aisle to your person and say “I do”! Everything else? Added bonus onto your day. But also HAVE FUN!! You only get to be a bride once!!
1) What was your favorite part of your wedding?
My favorite part of my wedding was to see it all come together in the end and being surrounded by all my family and friends.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day?
Something I wish I knew before my wedding was not to stress that much. Guests will not notice a lot of the small things that you are stressed out about to be perfect. Sometimes the unplanned things that happen make for the best memories.
3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
My self-care tips are to keep your mental health and well-being in check by eating healthy and exercising. Take some time away frequently from all the planning to relax and recharge.

1) What was your favorite part of your wedding?
It’s hard to choose! My favorite part of my wedding was the first look moment with my husband Jordan. That moment before the ceremony with just him and I was a dream to me. In that moment, it became so real, and I was so giddy. I was excited for him to see me in my dress, and I was excited to see how handsome he looked. We exchanged personal vows in that moment as well. That is something I’ll never forget. I think that’s a moment everyone should make sure they have. It’s like time stood still in that moment.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day?
How fast it really did fly by! People always said it would, but you don’t really understand until it’s happening. I was grateful to listen to others about getting a videographer. I am so grateful we spent the money on a videographer as well as photography to capture the moments we didn’t want to ever forget. If you can, definitely get a videographer!
3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
I would say to pamper yourself once a month before the wedding. Whether it be facial, massage, nails, etc. You need that time to de-stress. Also as a couple, still plan some dates because it puts a lot of stress on both of you getting things done, especially the few months before the wedding.

1) What was your favorite part of your wedding? Seeing both of our worlds collide was magical. For the wedding dinner reception, we made it a point to mix up the reception seating plans. My folks from the USA and our folks here in Ireland became fast friends for life. It was perfect. Looking out from the head table at all the chatting, happy people filled us with joy.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day?
Make sure you delegate tasks ahead of the wedding day. As the bride, people will bombard you with questions because they want things to be as perfect for you as possible. But, this leads to nonstop questions causing you anxiety and stress. To avoid this, send everyone tasks and answers before the wedding day so you get as many as you can out of the way before you’re trying to get your hair and makeup done.
3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
Make sure the day is authentically you. Still think of your guests happiness but don’t do it at the cost of your sanity. If you don’t want to do a receiving line after the ceremony because you don’t want to be touched a million times— don’t. We disappeared after the ceremony for our photoshoot. The brief alone time was perfect.

1) What was your favorite part of your wedding?
The entire wedding experience was incredible, and it is difficult to choose simply one aspect as a favorite. However, the commitments and vows we made to each other were the highlight and will never be forgotten.
2) What’s something you wish you knew before your wedding day?
The year-long preparation was intense, and I would tell all brides not to worry or stress about the little things on your wedding day. Take a step back, enjoy the process, and focus on the true meaning behind your commitment to your spouse.
3) What are your wedding self-care tips?
Surrounding yourself with positive influences such as your family, bridesmaids and friends are key stress reducers. Take time for yourself, do not procrastinate, and allow time for the unexpected.

The history of Coastal Weddings events and magazines had a special and beautiful beginning. Brenda Carraway, the co-founder and former owner of The Bridal Loft and Coastal Weddings, has always had a love for fashion. “When I first went to college,” Brenda recounts, “my mom encouraged me to do something that I loved and enjoyed. I told her ‘I love fashion, mom, I love fashion!’ She supported me to get a degree in fashion but told me to take a business degree with it, so I did.” After Brenda’s studies, her introduction to the world of women’s fashion began with Gayfer’s, a popular fashion chain based in Alabama. In the early 90s, Carraway was a driving force in Gayfer’s well-known fashion shows and expos in Pensacola, FL.
As her experience grew, she was given the opportunity to open her own shop. In Pensacola, she founded The Fashion Connection, a boutique selling ladies fashion and prom dresses. Nevertheless, her passion for bridalwear remained strong, so she began her own expo and fashion show Beautiful Beginnings. Brenda’s expo became a staple in the emerald coast wedding industry with its affordable admission, amazing wedding vendors, fabulous runway shows, and grand prizes. In 2003, through a mutual friend, Brenda Carraway met Kim Foster as if fate. Kim expressed to Brenda her ideas to create a magazine for Gulf Coast wedding vendors.
With Foster’s printing & editorial background and Carraway’s knowledge of the wedding industry, they worked with design team Tanya Hughes and Liesel Schmidt to bring forth the first issue of Coastal Weddings Magazine in Fall of 2003. “The magazine kind of took off in the very first issue,” Foster recalls, “...every issue just got better and better until you see what you see today.”

As times changed, as it inevitably does in fashion, retail moved primarily online. Brenda took this fact into account along with the knowledge that modern brides were planning smaller and more intimate weddings. She saw the opportunity, and The Fashion Connection transformed into The Bridal Loft in 2006, a bridal boutique providing a special and intimate experience that 21st century brides were searching for.

Coastal Weddings and The Bridal Loft have blossomed over the years, helping hundreds of brides find their dream dress and hosting bridal events like Bride’s Night during Pensacola summers. Brenda’s innovative approach and natural knack for bringing people together pioneered the path forward for the Pensacola wedding industry. When asked why Brenda Carraway chose to stay in the wedding industry, she responded happily, “Bridal is rewarding, more rewarding than just selling a fashion piece. You become a part of the once in a lifetime moment, you become a part of that wedding… and Coastal Weddings was all about building lifelong relationships. I think it’s important to establish it because those relationships meant the world to me. The people in Pensacola are incredible.”

You become a part of the once in a lifetime moment, you become a part of that wedding… and Coastal Weddings was all about building lifelong relationships. I think it’s important to establish it because those relationships meant the world to me. The people in Pensacola are incredible.”
Calling all engaged people who are meeting vendors, securing packages, and loving the services you are receiving: have you left those vendors a review? I know, I know, yet another thing to add to the seemingly never-ending list of to-do’s.
Let’s think about it this way… How did you find the vendors you are working with? Did you Google them, or maybe read some reviews? Chances are, the online reviews or word of mouth recommendations you received impacted who you selected to be part of your wedding team. Which is great! Your vendors rely largely on the experiences and recommendations of their previous clients.
Your unique team of wedding vendors thoroughly enjoy being part of your love story and adding to the wedding day magic. And the best ‘thank you’ that you could give is a review for future couples to see!
