Energy Update
July 2024
Hari Om!
It’s the second half of this number 8 year.
Since it is a number 8 year and we’re moving into its second half, you can expect a lot of projects that had been pending for a long time to complete, to actually complete this year.. provided we remain consistent and focused on them.
Saturn is going retrograde and fast approaching a conjunction with the North node in fact. That energy as per my calculations, should play out within the next 3 months.
Moon and Sun both in ‘Ardra’ and it’s the ‘Chaturdashi tithi’ (14th lunar day) as I write this. So tomorrow is going to be ‘Ardra Amavasya’ (New Moon in ’Ardra’) By the time you read this newsletter however, both Sun and Moon would most probably have shifted out of this chaotic energy of death and rebirth into the more harmonious energy of ‘becoming good again’ i.e.
‘Punarvasu’. Even so, reading the lunar extremities of new and full moon requires analyzing the chart just as it is at the instant that the Moon is at one of those points. This is why we will consider the influences from the placements on New moon day.
Let’s take a moment to talk about just that energy.
‘Ardra’ is the ‘nakshatra’ of death and rebirth, destruction and dissolution, storms, thunder and lightning.. ‘Ardra’ is the energy of ‘Rudra’ himself.
You put this energy in the New moon that signifies new beginnings…
And you have an energy playing out right now that is predominantly titled towards dissolving the old and creating the new.
Saturn retrograde is lending its energy of repetition, hard work and meticulous assessment as well. The fact that this event is taking place in the ‘nakshatra’ of ‘Purvabhadrapada’ shows us that these often uncomfortable energies of ‘repetition’ and ‘struggle’ are being directed towards breaking new ground.. new progress.. new growth.
The North node ‘Rahu’ in ‘Revati’ is further aligning the astral climate towards themes of guidance, leadership and aspiring for the highest truths.
At a macro level, the astral climate will be reflected in the events of the world in the form of important new beginnings and developments in the area of projects that contribute to the betterment of mankind, social welfare and public policy.
It is quite possible that there is some important breakthrough within the next few months around themes of health, climate or scientific advancement/discovery.
At the level of the individual’s mind however, this may only reflect in the form of a ‘search’ for manifesting a new reality, committing to and realizing a new ‘project’ or initiative.
Then there are supportive energies as well surrounding this general theme with Venus being in ‘Punarvasu’ and Jupiter being in ‘Rohini’.
These are two very abundant and positive energies of upgradation, improvement, enhancement and reconciliations with people and connections from the past.
In the same climate it is quite possible that key collaborations and alliances crop up in the world at a macro level.
At the level of finances, I am not a financial professional to advise you where to put your money but purely astrologically and spiritually speaking.. Jupiter in ‘Rohini’ usually carries the energy of growth in traditional sectors of a physical nature such as auto, gemstones, jewelry and gold.
All in all, the second half of 2024 especially the next month and in specific the next lunar cycle, seems to one which brings in
abundant changes towards manifesting new possibilities and releasing old ways of doing things that are no longer as ‘profitable’ or ‘equitable’.

Simplifying ‘Vaastu’ and 4 easy remedies within INR 500! ($6)
Vaastu, over time has become an expensive vedic science to practice. However, that need not be so.
Thing is, there is more interest and research required in this field by common folk. Not just architects looking to make their condos more saleable or ‘Vaastu’ experts leveraging the dearth of talent to charge a fortune.
Quite often we get so engrossed in vedic sciences of ‘inner healing’ that we forget just how important external healing in your environment is for your growth.
That’s it. That’s the basic principles of ‘Vaastu’.
What is it?
It’s to treat your home as you would treat your body.
No literally. Consider the figure on the next page:-
This is the figure of the ‘Vaastu Purush’ or ‘Vaastu-man’ who according to legend, is said to have descended from the sky and fallen (pinned down by the gods?) on the Earth in that form.
Now, all you have to do is understand that this basic shape or figure is aligned with the directions and therefore every house in the world no matter where it is, is aligned with the directions along the same lines.
For example:
House A is ‘facing’ N-East i.e. its main door is in the N-East and therefore.. it means that the head of the ‘Vaastu Purush’ lies in the entrance door of the house.
House B has its balcony in the N-East. Therefore it means that the head of the ‘Vaastu Purush’ now lies in the balcony of the house.
Got it?
Now, how to make sense of this?
It’s simple. It’s so simple that it’s amazing how much common sense seems to be rooted within intricate wisdom from several thousand years ago.
Imagine your body and think naturally about what is good for a body. Your body, any body in general.
How’d you like the energy of your mind to be?
Free and open right? That’s how a mind works best.. isn’t that the proverb? It works best when it is open.
The N-East or ‘Ishan kona’ corresponds to the head of the Vaastu Purush and therefore in a house, the North-East direction should not be blocked. It should not have clutter. It should not have any obstructing construction either from the outside or whereabouts.
The North East is also where you are allowed to have windows, doors, balconies, common areas, gardens, study rooms, meditation rooms, pools, fountains and performance rooms etc.
It is not however advised that the North-East be completely devoid of structure. For example, an intricately carved window pane on the North-East with any kind of ornate or simple design work done on the frames, pillars etc. will bring in more luck than just leaving it open even if facing a beautiful garden. Having an altar or meditation space, a small pond with fish even, would be more positive since it aids the free flow of ‘pranic’ energy.
Traditionally even in palaces, you had intricate ‘jharokas’ and seating spaces towards the East- N-East that used to allow royalty to view the Sun’s calming rays early morning or just sit in leisure and do their own thing like painting singing etc.
Makes sense doesn’t it?
How’d you like your thoughts and hair to be?
Nicely done up and beautiful, organized. Right?
Rather than having no thoughts at all.. rather than having no hair at all?
That’s the energy of the N-East.
In Vedic Astrology, the East corresponds to the ‘ascendant’, and the N-East to the second house. They represent respectively the individuality and values of the native.
Nothing surprising there. It’s perfectly consistent.
Why don’t you take this simple assignment to learn better:
Use the figure of the ‘Vaastu Purush’ design given above and map it to what you think could be the most effective arrangement?
1. Would you rather put a study room at the supposed ‘feet’ of the ‘Vaastu Purush’ or near his hands?
2. Where would you place the toilets?
3. Where would you build a swimming pool?
Justify your answer.
Why don’t you email these responses to me in order on jay.webtraffic@gmail.com
And I’ll answer the right way to analyze it in a LIVE session pretty soon?
Let’s proceed to talking about some very simple ‘Vaastu Remedies’ using plants, ‘yantras’ and ‘feng shui’.
So here we go:
1. Placing plants of a purifying nature such as Snake plant, Spider plant, Devil’s Ivy, Aloe Vera etc. in any area of your home where you have a dearth of light or blocks will help cleanse the energy.
a. This applies more to cases where you have those directions blocked in your house that are normally
considered better off with much less load. Such as the East, NE and NW.
b. These are corners of high ‘rajas’ energy. In the case of NE, it’s the highest ‘sattva’ energy and therefore ‘tamasic’ energy build up here as a result of moisture, lack of sunlight or external obstructions can be offset by keep the air cleansed and ‘prana’ moving.
c. You could also make a small gym here but make sure not to keep heavy weights or machinery.
d. In the case of NE, a small aquarium would not be a bad idea. The faster the fish the more ‘prana’ movement. Don’t keep any ‘tamasic’ natured fishes like sharks or eels, guppies etc. since they are fish of prey.
2. Thorny plants should as a rule not be kept in the house because of their spikes which give a very heightened ‘rajasic’ and ‘tamasic’ energy since those thorns have been grown by the plant as a natural evolutionary response to allow it to ‘attack’ predators. You can keep such plants however in areas that are allowed to be used for ‘defending’ from outside forces.
a. Like keep them near waste pipes that have a tendency to smell/rot/decay/rust. Windows facing vast empty open spaces also can do with a barrier between the energy up till that point and the world outside.
3. Keeping a ‘Feng Shui’ dragon or dragon-boat can be very helpful in the left side of the house to aid your understanding of your North node or purpose in life.
a. I’d say people with the South node/North node in 17/7-1 axis will benefit expressly from introducing the energy of the Dragonboat in their home.
b. Why?
c. Look up a feng shui dragon boat and you’ll see.
4. If you struggle to save money, you need a ‘Kubera yantra’ in the North of your home.
a. I have observed that a ‘thangka’ painting of ‘Kubera’ works just as well.
b. Technically, in Tibetan cultures, ‘Kubera’ is actually referred to as ‘Jambhala’ but the energies and applications are synonymous to quite a degree.
c. I think the explanation to why this energy really works in amassing wealth is understood by look at its photo. Look at the photo below. Can you see how ‘Jambhala’ (the god of wealth ‘Kubera’) is illustrated?
• The eyes are stern to ward of negative thoughts and energies. In particular those thoughts and energies that are detrimental to your savings.
• The body is large and fat. This is to depict amassing of nourishment at both the material and physical level.

The indestructible soul is bound to the body by the three moods of nature called Satvam Rajas Tamas. 5
O sinless one, Satvam binds through indescribable purity, knowledge and joy. 6
You should know that Rajas, in the form of attachment, born from thirst(physical needs), binds the soul through lust. 7
Tamas, OArjuna, is born from ignorance; and it binds the souls through fascination, error, laziness and sleep. 8

Should you go back to school? An astrological perspective
Upgrading your skills is quite often something that you’re aware of but can be tempted to overlook.
Why is that?
That’s because most of our life is spent resolving the agendas of Saturn in our lives..
What is that?
Responsibilities, delays to life plans, chronic life problems that seem to always repeat themselves and weaknesses that are slowly overcome.
Rest of our life is caught up in working through issues of our free will and desires in this world.
What are they?
Our purpose (Rahu-Ketu/Nodes) And Mars.
Most of us have the most important planets that shape the material experience as we know it, all caught up in separate riddles that never seem to resolve.
How will those riddles resolve? All forces are working effectively against each other.
Few of us have these key planets Saturn, Mars and the Nodes ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ aligned consistently in a single direction.
These are the people who know what they want and are willing to wait as long as they need to, to get it.
The trick to make the process of maturation and liberation easier, is to develop one’s Jupiter.
This is why it was always said that ‘Bina Guru Gati Nahi’ meaning “There is no advancement without a Guru”.
Having a teacher, a ‘guru’ is a sure shot way of figuring out all that is required for you to figure out about your life, circumstances, habits, patterns and all that you don’t even know that you don’t know!
This is why ‘Guru’ is placed at par with if not higher than the holy trinity of ‘Brahma’(The Creator), ‘Vishnu’(The Preserver) and ‘Mahesha’(The Destroyer).
Now, what you need to understand is that while all that is written above is indeed true.
There is another important aspect of acquiring wisdom and a ‘guru’ that holds true:
“The teacher appears when the student is ready.”
So you don’t really have to sit around and wait for a ‘guru’ to show up in your life, you have to spend time studying on your own and developing your ‘Guru’ within to be able to attract the teacher you need.
Any time you invest in studying and inculcating knowledge, you are strengthening your ‘Guru’.
‘Guru’ is also the most benefic and lucky planet in ‘Vedic astrology’ and a revered entity ‘Vedic Culture’. What is being said is actually quite simple but somehow people miss it.
The more you learn, the luckier you become. The more you wisdom increases, your ability to ‘escape’ dangerous circumstances and ‘luckily’ stumble upon the help and solutions you need also increases.
Isn’t it natural?
Now, if you are undergoing the following circumstances in your life then it is probably a good idea to return to school and build new knowledge:
1. You are nearing ‘Rahu’ or ‘Ketu’ maturation which happen around the ages of 42 and 48.
2. You have Jupiter transiting your 5th/9th house in your D-1 or D-9.
3. Your ‘antardasha’/’mahadasha’ lord is conjunct Jupiter in the natal chart or via transit.
4. You are undergoing Saturn return that happens around the ages of 28, 56 and 84. (Every 28 years).
5. You are undergoing Saturn maturation. That happens around the age of 35.
6. You are undergoing reverse nodal transit i.e. ‘Rahu’ (North node) transiting over natal ‘Ketu’(South node).
I’d like to clarify here that periods of the lords of the 9th/5th in both the D-1 and D-9 can indicate higher knowledge gain and learning (aka going back to school).
However, any time you’re committing to gaining and inculcating, practicing and growing knowledge, you are working with your Jupiter.
If you study how Jupiter is placed in your chart, you will be able to understand much better gaining what kind of knowledge will work for you in the luckiest and most abundant manner.
Building stability: An astro-tantric approach
Saturn corresponds to the Root Chakra in your body. Did you know that?
Saturn is described as a ‘Shudra’ by ‘varna’ i.e. categorization in terms of role in society.
In archaic times, ‘Shudra’ or ‘Untouchables’ although endured great discrimination for their involvement with corpses, disease, garbage collection and cleaning duties, menial tasks.. formed the foundation of the society.
The most basic element of one’s existence is connection to the faculties of ingestion and egestion.
Sex and reproduction is also one of the primary, basic principles of life.
Guess where all the machinery for these basic functions is placed in the body?
Everything that controls the above, as you know, is placed south of your navel.
That’s where, at the base of your spine, the Root Chakra is said to be placed.
Described as red in color and placed parallel to the ground like an open lotus, this energy corresponds to the most basic function of life: order and routine.
What’s going to happen if you start feeling the urge to go to the bathroom at odd times? Like animals and birds?
Quite a bit of inconvenience in the pursuit of goals based in wisdom and knowledge. Right?
Takes you away from the nature of being this ‘evolved’ being that can regulate his baser desires and instincts for the perusal of higher goals such as sadhana, yoga and meditation. Right?
That’s why the Root chakra is associated with planet Saturn.
If you’re having trouble with matters related to the root chakra whether in body, mind or your life trajectory..
You can bet the problem is an imbalance with the energy of Saturn in your life.
Most people by the way deal with issues related to the gut, hemorrhoids, lower back pain, sciatica, hernia, slip disc, sexual dysfunction, PCOD and tract infections etc.. these are quite widespread in society.
If not in the physical forms as indicated above, in the form of their manifestations at a subconscious or psychological level in an individual’s life… Such as constant fear, chronic financial insecurity, family feuds, ungroundedness, ADHD, anxiety, inability to stay consistent and stick to habits and solutions
Why is that?
Well, most people find it tough to deal with just how tough the experience of life is.
Most people resort to unhealthy methods or coping mechanisms that manifest in the forms of resentment or disease.
Saturn gives most people problems because well, most people know what they need to do but somehow also excel at talking themselves out of doing it.
With Saturn however, all these things add up.
They add up and sooner or later these vibrations that are out of sync with your highest purpose and authentic desires and expression cause imbalances in your body in the forms of imbalances in your physical, financial, spiritual or psychological existence.
What do we do?
Well, here’s a 5 point formula that will help anyone develop the power of Saturn in their life and use it to surge ahead:
1. Commit to some kind of regular physical task. a. This doesn’t have to be difficult like exercise.
b. This can be something as easy as going shopping for fresh produce to the farmer’s market once or twice a week.
c. You could also start a vegetable garden, workout or take up learning a new skill, hobby or language.
2. Practice Root ‘Chakra’ chanting every day.
3. Practice ‘Lam’ mantra meditation everyday sitting in ‘padmasana’ and ‘yoni mudra’ or ‘Bhairavi mudra’.
4. Commit to a weekly social cause or donation that is a little bit outside your comfort zone but gives you inner happiness for having done it.
5. Increase your working hours.
