Founder Arthur Skill 1905-1979

in Radford, Nottingham in 1919. It became a limited company in 1958.

Founded by Arthur Skill, the current chairman’s (Nigel) and financial director’s (Simon) grandfather, began by using his only lorry to collect fish from the early morning market and for light haulage during the day. Soon, he began carrying local miners to Bestwood Colliery, and in 1921 he purchased a Crossley Charabanc - Skills’ first true bus..

Nigel Skill, Chairman - Nigel as young as 10, along with his Brothers and Sisters used to help his Grandfather and Father to clean coaches. His involvement and responsibility has evolved over the years (32 of them!) and is now proud to be the Company Chairman. Nigel has a particular soft spot for the Holidays Division and aims to enforce his Grandfathers values of fair and honest dealings, quality coach holidays and excellent value for money breaks.

Simon Skill, Financial Director - Along with Nigel and his other siblings, Simon helped out at Skills from a young age.

Sporting an impressive 45 years service, Simon is now the Financial Director for the Skills Group, whilst managing his own accountancy firm.

Pete Hallam, Operations Director - Pete Hallam although not part of the Skill family, also worked for Arthur Skill as a young apprentice in the workshop, his knowledge has increased over the years and following a short spell working for another operator, Pete returned as Operations Director. Also a part owner and very much part of the Skills family values, he ensures the operations and vehicles run smoothly and safely and makes up the board of directors with the Skills Brothers.

Day 2 - Fleetwood Market - After breakfast we make our way to Fleetwood Market with over 150 indoor and outdoor stalls. It has an incredible range of products on offer and it rivals any high street in the UK. Then it’s back to the hotel get ready for an evening full of festivities as we celebrate “Christmas Day” with a gala buffet and maybe even a visit from Santa.

Day 3 - Blackpool - With a varied range of attractions

in Blackpool, today we enjoy a day at leisure to explore the surrounding area. Back at the hotel we celebrate “Boxing Day” with dinner and entertainment in the Kennedy’s Cabaret Room.

Day 4 - Southport - Today we make our way to the traditional Victorian resort of Southport. Discover the beautiful gardens and parks, or head down to Wesley Street for a spot of shopping in some of the many boutiques and independent shops. Tonight get ready for our “New Year’s” celebrations with a gala buffet, chocolate fountain and entertainment.

Day 5 - Home - After breakfast we depart for our journey home.

Day 2 - Exeter, Dawlish & Teignmouth - The city of Exeter is full of history and heritage all waiting to be discovered. From the magnificent cathedral to the historic quayside with its roman walls there is always plenty to see and do. On our return to the hotel we take a scenic drive through Dawlish and Teignmouth.

These are two beautiful coastal towns connected by unrivalled scenery. At the hotel, celebrate “Christmas Eve” with dinner and entertainment and maybe have your photo taken with Santa.

Day 3 - Torquay - A day at leisure to explore what Torquay has to offer at your own pace. Tonight we celebrate “Christmas Day”, enjoy a candlelit dinner with all the trimmings.

Day 4 - Dartmoor & Plymouth - Designated a National Park in 1951, Dartmoor is an area of protected countryside which everyone can visit and explore. Day 1 - Travel – Departure by coach to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. Continuing to Paris, we are welcomed on board at 6pm to settle into our cabins. Dinner this evening is followed by a glamorous cabaret show on board.

Day 2 - Panoramic guided tour of Paris by coach After a delicious breakfast we board our coach.

Discover the renowned sights of this magnificent city including Bercy, Bastille, Latin Quarter, the Louvre, Concorde, the Champs Elysées and Arc de Triomphe before lunch on board. This afternoon is filled with mouth watering aromas as we discover the city’s many Christmas festivities. We return for dinner on board and an evening of dancing as we sail towards La Défense dependent on river levels.

Day 3 - Guided tour of Old Montmartre - We sail towards Paris during breakfast. We depart for a guided tour of Old Montmartre - home to the 19th century Basilica of Sacre-Coeur and the highest point in Paris at Montmartre Hill which offers panoramic views of 50km around Paris.

Lunch on board is followed by free time. Just a few minutes’ walk on foot from the Eiffel Tower it’s easy to explore Paris before tonight’s gala dinner and spectacular night cruise where we float through the beautifully illuminated city.

We then head to Dartmouth home to ancient narrow streets and boutique shops. Maybe visit the Britannia Naval College, Dartmouth museum or take a ride on the Dartmouth steam railway. We then make our way back to the hotel to get ready for the evening’s festivities.
