Jamaica strikes gold at Robotics Olympics in Singapore Jamaica’s robotics team clinched gold at the Robotics Olympics held in Singapore, proudly bringing home the prestigious Katherine Johnson Award for Engineering Documentation. The competition unfolded between October 7 and October 10, offering a global stage for showcasing exceptional engineering talent. The Katherine Johnson Award is a venerable accolade named in honor of the esteemed African-American mathematician, whose remarkable contributions to aeronautics played a pivotal role in safely navigating astronauts John Glen and Alan Shepard back to Earth from the boundless expanses of space. The award is bestowed upon the team that most compellingly illustrates the ingenious processes employed in constructing their robot. Steered by the adept leadership of captain Johnathan Smith from Campion College, Team Jamaica is a constellation of prodigious minds. The team boasted talents like Shawn-Michael
