outh Miami’s James McCants, long an area activist and member of the CRA and other organizations, has been working with Rebuilding Together to improve the lives of people in South Miami initially and in neighboring communities as well. “Since I’ve been involved there are have been more than 100 homes affected in the South Miami and now the Coconut Grove area,” said McCants. “Pepsi Cola came in and funded one house for us for $10,000 as part of the project to touch the lives of elderly and handicapped people and provide them with some dignity and enhancements for their homes.” McCants praised Miami-Dade County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez whose District 7 encompasses both South Miami and the Grove. “It’s been a great unified effort on his part,” McCants said.
