Impacts of school closures on children in developing countries: Can we learn something from the past? The Corona crisis has hit education hard worldwide. As of 28 April 2020, school closures affected 1.3 billion learners in 186 countries, or 73.8% of total enrolment. Nearly all African countries are practising country-wide school closures.1 The current pandemic may cause serious setbacks to the effort to provide education for all.
