Financial Aid and financial planning: next steps Know your obligations As you begin your journey into practice, you will come face to face with many decisions about your finances, one of which is your responsibility to begin repaying your student loans. National Student Loans Service Centre or CanLearn (NSLSC), administrator for the Canada portion of your student loan as well as some provincial loans, is pleased to provide you with a webinar on repaying your student loans. This webinar will guide you through what is to happen next and give you helpful tips on the different options available to you. It is offered through an ON Demand link, which can be watched at your convenience or through a Live Webinar link, which gives you the opportunity to interact and ask questions to the presenter. You are not required to make any loan payments toward your government student loan during the six month period following the end of your program, however, interest may accrue on your outstanding loans during this time. About a month before your loan is due for repayment, you will receive a consolidation letter from NSLSC which outlines the details of your student loan and presents you with a number of options.

Default rates We are very proud that CMCC has an excellent record with respect to the Ontario Student Loan Program, with a default rate of 1.8%. The success of our graduates in repaying their loans is an important factor in ensuring that future CMCC students can continue to access provincial and federal support for higher education. We are confident that you will continue this tradition and honour your responsibility for repaying your loans and any grant, bursary, and/or scholarship overpayment. Calculating monthly payments There are many online resources available through the provincial sites to help you manage your payments, including a calculator tool to help you assess what your monthly payments might be so that you may plan accordingly. For example, the NSLSC website has a loan repayment estimator. Not making your payments There are serious consequences if you do not make your payments. These are outlined in your provincial loan authority website. Please make sure you are aware of the expectations by visiting these sites, especially if you are experiencing difficulty repaying your loan. You will find information on available debt management programs such as debt reduction programs and revision of terms. Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) This program makes it easier for you to manage your student loan debt by reducing your monthly payment. To learn more about this plan, please visit: Repayment Assistance Plan All Provincial Student Assistance Programs are listed by province and territory at: cmcc.ca/financialaid Still have questions? Please feel free to email CMCC Student Services at finaid@cmcc.ca for any additional questions you may have about your financial aid.

Measuring your Satisfaction and Success CMCC, as part of its obligations for quality assurance with the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, participates in a Graduate Satisfaction Survey each Fall. This research provides the Ministry with important information regarding graduate satisfaction with the Doctor of Chiropractic program. Measures of satisfaction are among a number of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that indicate CMCC’s overall performance as it relates to the provision of an accredited degree program in Ontario. The survey is being conducted by a third party firm called Forum Research. In Fall 2017, you will be contacted by telephone to respond to the Graduate Satisfaction Survey. Your participation in this survey is imperative – as the response rates of CMCC graduates will be a factor in determining the eligibility for future students to access OSAP funding from the Government of Ontario. If our KPIs or response rates fall below those of the provincial averages, our institution’s OSAP eligibility could be in jeopardy – and we ask you to please take the time to respond to the survey call from Forum Research. To help with this, please ensure that you email address and telephone number are up to date on MyCMCC, and thank you in advance for your cooperation and for your continued support of your alma mater – the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Please contact Student Services at 416 482 2340 ext. 147 or studentserv@cmcc.ca to request the documentation.

Student Services: we’re still here to help! Access to and copies of student records CMCC maintains your student records in hard copy for one year, and then converts your files to digital format for archiving. The information we collect is solely for the purposes of the administration of the Doctor of Chiropractic program, and as such, we are not in a position to release personal documentation to other institutions or organizations without your written permission. This is to ensure the protection of your personal information. Should you require a copy of information from your student record (beyond a transcript), please contact Student Services. Confirmation of graduation documentation It is not unusual that a financial institution will require written confirmation of the completion of your program. Often a copy of your grade report or transcript will suffice. However, it is not uncommon to require a letter as well. We would be pleased to provide an additional document indicating the successful completion of your program. Please contact Student Services at 416 482 2340 ext. 147 to request the documentation. Transcripts Transcripts will be released only upon the completion of a Transcript Request Form (available on cmcc.ca) and the payment of a $15.00 fee per transcript. Income tax documents CMCC will be able to provide you with copies of your T2202A Forms (Tuition, Education, and Textbook Amounts Certificate) for the 2017 Tax year through KIRO. Forms for previous academic years can be obtained by contacting the Accounting Office at Extension 181. CMCC email You will continue to have access to your CMCC email account until June 30, 2018. This will enable you to continue having access to online forms and services that you may require. Please ensure you forward this email account to another account if you use it more frequently. Address updates We really do want to stay in touch with you – so please keep your current address up to date through MyCMCC.
