CMAC Invests in New Western Star 5700s as Fleet Grows & Advances This investment is ensures our drivers have the best equipment they need to get the job done.

CMAC Ownership is proud to add new Western Star 5700s to the fleet. When investing in our fleet, CMAC keeps the driver in mind to ensure they have the tools they need to get the job done comfortably and efficiently. Other decision factors include type, payload & towing capacity, durability, fuel-economy, and safety.

The 5700s are Western Stars new, fuel-efficient trucks. They were designed through a combination of Western Star’s extreme heritage and world-class engineering to improve efficiency, aerodynamics, and profitability.

Who can say how many putts were made or missed - but we are proud to be able to be a part of supporting Vista Maria as a part of the event.

Vista Maria is recognized as providing best-in-class residential and community-based treatment and therapy for children, young women, and their families. Vista Maria provides healing and hope to hundreds of women and children who have suffered the effects of abuse, neglect and trauma.

NATIONAL TRUCK DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK: SEPTEMBER 13-19, 2020 This week we are celebrating drivers with industry members across the country for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. #NTDAW2020 Nearly every aspect of daily life is made possible because a truck driver delivered the goods and resources people need.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an important time for America to pay respect and thank all the professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in undertaking one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs. These 3.5 million professional men and women not only deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, they also keep our highways safe.

Americans in all fifty states have taken extraordinary steps to show their appreciation for the important work that professional truck drivers have done as we navigate our way through the coronavirus pandemic. From children passing out lunches, to “I Heart Truck” signs across America’s highways, the public has taken notice of the essential role truck drivers play in their lives.

This week is a way to show appreciation to the 3.5 million professional men and women who not only deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, but also keep our highways safe.

More than 80% of U.S. communities depend solely on trucking for delivery of their goods and commodities.

Professional truck drivers drove over 287.9 billion miles in 2016, more than double 25 years ago. Those miles accounted for 14.2% of all motor vehicle miles and 29.8% of all truck miles.

There are 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States. Total industry employment is 7.8 million or one out of every 16 people working in the United States.

DRIVER RECOGNITION: CHARLES HENDERSON CMAC’s Safety Supervisor received a call from a driver from another company who wanted to compliment one of our drivers and make sure we know what a great job he is doing.

He wasn’t able to give the truck or trailer number, but had recognized our Air Force trailer - which stood out to him as he and his father had both served in the Air Force.

After looking at the logs, Charles Henderson was the driver whose outstanding driving prompted the motorist to call.

Charles is a relatively new member of the CMAC Team and has 20+ years of experience.

Safety Precautions for Fall Road Conditions

As Summer comes to a close and the leaves start to change, it is important to be aware of new seasonal hazards on the road.

As Daylight Savings Time ends, you will inevitably be spending more time driving in the dark. Darkness is known to compromise depth perception, color recognition, and peripheral vision.

Be prepared for bright sunlight and glares - particularly 15-45 minutes before sunset and after sunrise Autumn is the beginning of breeding season for deers, and you are more likely to hit a deer in November than any other time of the year (according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Deers are more active near the roadways this time of year, and drivers should take special precaution at dawn and dusk and when driving near wooded ares.

While the changing leaves are beautiful, wet leaves on the road can be as slippery as ice. Make sure your treads are in good shape for peak performance on slippery surfaces, and do not hard brake on wet leaves.

As temperature changes, be aware that tires will drop one pound per square inch of pressure for every 10 degree temperature drop.

If you are driving in fog, remember to use your low beam lights to make yourself visible to fellow drivers. Leave extra space, and if you are having trouble with visibility, following the lines on the road with your eyes can help you stay in your lane.

Plan in Advance

Even if you’re in a hurry, take some time to look at the menu and make a thoughtful decision. This may keep you from ordering more food than you need and give you the opportunity to choose a healthier option.

Of course, “Just a few more cents for that much more” is always going to cross your mind, but that money saved is made up in calories, sodium, and sugar.

Rethink Your Drinks

Making the switch from Coke or other carbonated beverages to water or seltzer water will save you money, and come with a lot of benefits. Drinking water is one of the easiest things you can do to improve your health and wellness.

Give Your Productivity and Concentration a Boost We all feel better after a long day if we know we have accomplished what we’ve set out to. Try these tips and keep these strategies in mind next time you’re “in a rut”.

Spend a few minutes outside.

According to research, being outdoors stimulates our brain and can help reactivate concentration.

Rethink your environment.

There are small simple changes you can make to your workspace to improve concentration.

Remove distractions, stay organized and keep things you reference often close at hand.

Try “Brain Training”

This is basically the idea of exercising your mind to improve your brain function - try playing a puzzle game on your phone instead of scrolling through social media for a little while in the evening.

Good Sleep and Healthy Diet

Almost every health and wellness resource on the internet recommends good sleep habits and a healthy diet to improve your wellness. When people don’t get enough sleep, their reaction signs weaken, they’re inattentive, and don’t respond as well to environmental signs. Getting more sleep can help your brain function better, improve your mood, and help your immune system.

DRIVER RECOGNITION: TERRY STALEY Retired Michigan State Trooper, Robert O’Connor about truck 1108, driven by Terry Staley. Mr. O’Connor stated he had been following our truck for about 10 or 15 miles or so and want to call and compliment our driver for driving so well. .

Mr. O’Connor said that Terry maintained the posted speed limit when everyone else around him was speeding. That Terry stayed in the right lane and did not change lanes as people were entering the freeway, he adjusted his speed to compensate but never went over the posted speed limit. Terry will be receiving a gift card for this recognition. Terry has been with CMAC for 14 years, he is also one of our driver trainers.

Join the Celebration: #NTDAW2020 Without truck drivers, within 24 hours our grocery stores would face basic food shortages; hospitals and nursing shortages would run out of basic supplies, service station would be out of gas, and the manufacturing plants would shut down.

Truck Drivers are one of the most essential parts of the American economy, and our group is one of the best in the industry. They rose to the challenges of COVID-19 and continued to act as an engine to keep our country moving.
