Paul Doll Paul N. Doll . PE. Executive Director of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers since 1954. was honored May 15 with a surprise party and recognition dinner a t Ramada Inn in Jefferson City. Doll retired July 1. 1976 . More than 250 persons representing government . state organizations. associa tions . civi c clubs. community projects. and professional engi neers from Missouri and other states of the nation. participated in the ceremonies . William R. Gibbs. PE. president of MSPE. presided at the dinner. Master of ceremonies was J. Kent Roberts . '50 PE. Rolla. past president of MSPE. T he Reverend Arthur M. Hughes. assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church . of which Doll is an elder. gave the invocation. Contri buti ons to the MSPE Educational Foundation Fund . honoring Doll . were an nounced by President Gibbs who reported the total in the fund n ow exceeds $13.000 more than half the activation goal established by the bo ard of directo rs. Doll . a UMC grad . always maintain ed most cordia l relations with U MR and especially the al umni office. We will miss h im as a professional colleague .

Ratchford at KState Dr. C. Brice Ratchford. former president of the University of Missouri. will be joining the department of economics at Kansas State University. Manhattan. around August 1. as a visiting professor. "Dr. Ratchford will explore new Extension economics programs. especially in the area of international marketing of agricultural commodities . " said Dr. Paul L. Kelley. head of the KSU department of economics. in announcing the one year appointment. "This is an area vital to farm incomes in Kansas and the Great Plains. and because of its impact on America 's balance of payments. to the national econ omy as well. " Kelley said that Ratchford would be on sabbatical leave from UM while at K-State and that Ratchford planned to Jom the University of Missouri Columbia department of agricultural economics in the fall of 1977 . Dr. James C . Olson. Interim President of the University of Missouri. issued the following statement. "I am delighted to hear of the appointment by Kansas State University of Dr. Ratchford to such an important assignment. Food production and the world trade of agricultural commodities have become increasingly important to the economy of the U nited States and the h ea lth and welfare of the entire world's population. They will take on even greater importance in the future. "I can think of no better person KSU could have chosen to h andle this project than Dr. Ratchford. 1 offer both of them my personal congratulations . I hope this sabbatical year will be a good one for both Brice and Betty Ratchfor d. "

John C. Weaver to Retire From Presidency J ohn C. Weaver . president of the University of Wisconsin System . will retire on June 30. 1977. in order to return to the teac hing of geography. he concluded his academic life. " I wou ld once again re turn to the sa tisfa ction of maps and books. " He con tin ued: "By J uly 1 of nex t year. I will h ave no more than thi' normal expect ation of eight years to make good on tha t self-promise I believe that tim e both entitles and compels m e to now move fairl y promp tl y into the final chapter of my active professional life . "
