What makes you think of New York City?
New York makes us think of a melding of differences - a place of contrast in its purest, grittiest form. We feel welcomed by a city that has embraced everyone - different backgrounds, languages, religions, ages, genders, and pursuits. We revel in how we can feel completely invisible and yet completely seen when it truly matters.
New York is where contrast collides - the old with the new, exciting history and burgeoning trends, and big companies meet the small yet mighty. We are drawn to the magic, noise, and excitement of what’s to come.
Welcome to New York.

A Personal Touch: Custom Stick-on Patches
Outpach has revolutionized the patch trend and made it better than ever before. These patches can go on anything—a laptop, phone case, denim jacket, backpack, or water bottle— and recipients can choose their own Outpatch adventure! They are easy to stick and stay put for the long haul.
Embroidered with thread from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, these patches do more than just look great - they do great things, too. Outpatch donates 1% of their sales to humanitarian nonprofits. They’re also a veteran-owned company and operate as a low-profit LLC (L3C). Outpatch envisions a world where nonprofits can focus more on their missions and less on fundraising and strive to amplify the voices of those making positive changes in the world.

High-quality swag for events

Ask Anthony
Your questions frankly answered by a native New Yorker
Q.
Dear Anthony,
I find myself in a bit of a pickle! Our company has employees scattered across the country, and naturally, each person has their own unique tastes and styles. Trying to find gifts that cater to everyone's preferences seems like an impossible task! With so much on my plate, how can I make sure everyone is happy without spending endless hours on it?
Gratefully,
Overwhelmed with Gifting A.
Dear Overwhelmed,
We got this corporate gifting gig down pat, and I’ll prove it. What if your team could pick what they want, punch in their address, and bam! We ship it straight to their doorstep. Sounds pretty easy, right? We call that a Gifting Portal. What the heck is a Gifting Portal? Well, I’ll tell ya. Stop interrupting me.
Basically, we set you up with a custom portal (kind of like a mini website), decked out with your logo and colors and junk. On it, we line up all the gift options you've handpicked. Folks click your link, snag their faves, and drop in their address. Then we handle the rest. Boom. Easy.
Listen, Overwhelmed - you don’t need to stress out about individual preferences. The platform handles it all. Even better? Folks love having
the power to choose what they want. I mean, if someone gave me the cheapest pastrami when I wanted gabagool I’d be pretty PO’d. I know the good stuff. Lemme choose my deli meats, you know what I’m sayin’?
Q.
Dear Anthony,
I've been having a bit of a dilemma. Whenever I chat with my Clove & Twine Account Manager, they mention "decoration" and "artwork", and I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t exactly know the difference between those terms. Could you clarify these terms so we can all be on the same page?
Sincerely, Lost in Interpretation
A.
Dear Lost,
It’s okay, I’ve been there too! There’s a bunch of nonsense terminology in this business. Okay, so - decoration? That's just our fancy way of saying we put your logo onto whatever you're gonna order from us. Artwork, on the other hand, is your actual logo itself. Eh, it is what it is.
Now here’s the thing to remember - even though we usually cater to folks who want their stuff decked out with their logo, you can still get gifts sans decoration if that's more your style. Just get on the horn with your Account Manager, and they'll clue
you in on what's what.
Q.
Dear Anthony,
There are a gazillion other swag companies out there flaunting cheaper prices for what seems like the same deal. Why on earth should I fork over more of our precious funds at Clove & Twine when it looks like I can get the same bang for fewer bucks elsewhere? Is there really that good of a reason to resist the more inexpensive alternative?
Sincerely,
Budget-Boggled Boss A.
Dear Boggled,
Let me paint a picture for you: You wouldn't stroll into a fine dining establishment and ask for a Mickey D's burger, right? Nah, that'd be ridiculous. A top-notch eatery earns its stripes for serving up primo grub, and that's exactly what we're about. We're in the business of quality, my friend. Cloth napkins, matching utensils, a staff that goes above and beyond - it’s pretty damn nice.
Sure, you might have to dig a little deeper into those pockets, but guess what? You're getting something better in return - a top-tier experience, oneon-one service, top-notch products, the whole shebang. So, if you're after the good stuff, you know where to find us. But hey, feel free to hit the bricks - we won’t judge.
Q.
Dear Anthony,
I was checking out your website and couldn't spot a brand that I'm looking for. Got any secret brands tucked away that you're not sharing? Just curious if there are hidden treasures waiting to be found!
Cheers, Savvy Shopper
A.
Dear Savvy,
Our product lineup is like a living, breathing thing - always changing, always growing, always ready to surprise you. Just like my Uncle Al that time he surprised all of us by selling his pizza joint on the corner. You’d think he’d tell Aunt Anne something about that before he did it, right? Maybe tell his nephew that he was out of free pizza from now on? Yeah, that’s what we said. Anyway, I’m fine about it.
Back to your question. Our team might be adding it to our website as we speak! Surprise - just like Uncle Al! But really, just ask. If it’s not on there, we’ll find it for you, or something like it. We’re good like that.
One last thing: some brands like to keep it hush-hush, and we respect that. My brother Vinny needs to keep it low-key right now, too. But we won’t go into that. So, there could be some under-the-radar brands that are just keeping a low profile, but we can get ‘em for you. So, basically, hit us up, and we'll hook you up with exactly what you're after. Fuhgeddaboudit.

Point & Shoot
with Paper Shoot Camera | Set $145
If you don’t remember the days of disposable cameras, they were simpler times. You never knew if the photos you captured were good until you developed the film. The printed images were naturally imperfect, and you cherished every photo no matter how grainy or out of focus. Capturing the memory was more important than ending up with a perfect image.
Although the simplicity was delightful, the product itself was not. With a clunky design and single-use packaging, and having to print every photo to see any of them? That’s SO 2001. Paper Shoot honors its sentimental yet outdated disposable counterpart more sustainably. Created with durable stone paper, these digital cameras are easily customizable, sleek, and even rechargeable. The designs are vintage-inspired, and the resulting images evoke classic film photography's beauty and nostalgia with modern, innovative, sustainable technology.
Paper Shoot Camera set includes an 18 MP camera board, stone paper case, a 32 GB SD card, and one set of rechargeable batteries.

Building a Better Workplace
HOW WE MUST EMBRACE FLEXIBILITY TO THRIVE IN AN EVER-CHANGING WORLD.
We all feel how work (and life) has changed over the past four years. Our professional and personal lives have shifted drastically, from overcoming a pandemic and re-balancing our work to navigating political turmoil and economic anxiety. We have felt change throughout every facet of our lives and have all been working towards a new equilibrium.
Employers have felt it, too. Some have tried to direct employees back to the way things were. Others have spearheaded change by applying new remote work policies, expanding benefits and mental health days, and testing four-day work weeks.
Many employees appreciate these efforts, but they perpetually feel insufficient. Although employees may point the finger at their employers (and vice versa), neither party is necessarily at fault. Now, it's imperative for both employees and employers to let go of rigidity and adapt to the shifting landscape of work.
The pandemic allowed many people the space to assess what is truly important to them. One worker aptly put it this way: “If you didn’t come out of the pandemic a changed person, then you missed a great opportunity.” Trends like the Great Resignation, quiet quitting, and more unionization didn’t all come from nothing - they came out of deep introspection about work, life, and what really matters to each of us.
New graduates are entering the workforce with more uncertainty than ever before. The income gap is widening, along with a disappearing middle class. Already stressed, workers face inflation, housing shortages, and other economic troubles. Therapy and meditation can help with coping, but many workers, especially young people, are genuinely overwhelmed with the constant weight of these systemic issues.
Psychologist and author Adam Grant wrote about this state of being (called ‘languishing’) in his 2021 New York Times piece. “It’s the void between depression and flourishing — the absence of
35
well-being. You don’t have symptoms of mental illness, but you’re not the picture of mental health either. You’re not functioning at full capacity. Languishing dulls your motivation, disrupts your ability to focus, and triples the odds that you’ll cut back on work. It appears to be more common than major depression — and in some ways it may be a bigger risk factor for mental illness.”
When people spend most of their weekly waking hours at work, it is natural to feel that the space that occupies that time (the place of employment) should create a welcoming and supportive environment. Financial compensation is a piece, of course, but people now know there’s only so much money can do - and only so much employers are able to offer.
In Mind Share Partners’ 2023 Mental Health at Work Report of 1,500 full-time U.S. workers, they found that investment in a healthy and sustainable organizational culture significantly outperformed an individualized approach through therapy, apps, and self-care resources. In fact, 78% of respondents voted positively, which makes sense. Dr. Christina Maslach discovered the six main factors of burnout, which are all rooted in company culture: Difficulty with or mismanaged workloads, lack of control, inadequate rewards, an absence of community, insufficient fairness, and misalignment of values.
The good news is that businesses can adapt. Companies finding a successful balance show new innovation in the workplace experience. They take surveys, find data, and try new tactics to see what works. They reassess. They try again. Things may not have always been done this way, but how we work hasn’t changed much since the early 1900s— and yet our world has drastically changed. What better time to create a new future than now?
What you can do:
Rebuild the foundation.
A strong foundation will support your company and your employees moving forward. Re-envision what a mentally healthy workplace looks like, and find ways to help employees feel safe and accepted. Every organization is different. Find what your organization stands on, and practice what you preach. Embed that foundation into every facet: the culture, systems, and the employee life cycle.
Work top down and bottom up.
Culture change happens from both ends. This means leaders must model healthy work practices themselves and provide supportive resources and training to their teams. It also means empowering employees to learn about healthy culture through education like leadership coaching, management programs, and mentorships.
Get to the root cause.
Desmond Tutu said, “There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” Programs that support self-care, like free meditation apps, are wonderful - they help pull people out of the river. However, we only make positive changes when we also address the root cause happening upstream.
Understand that autonomy is powerful. There is no universal ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way of working, whether in-office, hybrid, or remote. The power comes through autonomy. Focusing just on the location of where we work detracts from the actual reason why there’s an argument at all: individuals want the ability to choose what scenario works best for them and be trusted to get their work done. Think about it this way: are there days or times of day you’re more productive outside of the standard 9-5? Do you find that sometimes you do your best work from home, and sometimes
you do the best work by collaborating with your team? There are many dimensions of how people work successfully, and we’re kidding ourselves if we think humans can function with the same output as machines. Autonomy is inherently human and a key component to finding the unique balance that is right for your company.
Continue (or start) Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training.
When workers of different social identities feel supported, they have better mental health and engagement—and the data shows this to be true. DEI training is about creating a stable, healthy, and safe working environment for everyone. The future of work includes supporting all
Ultimately, to create change, we need to reassess. We must understand what’s working and what isn’t then take action to create a new form of stability for employees.
The future of mental health at work is a bigger conversation than increased salary, more PTO, or a four-day work week. Values have shifted, and those factors, although helpful, simply aren’t enough. People want to feel supported and that they belong to a community where they have purpose. They want to have agency in their lives.
The future of work is recommitting to the needs of each human. It will take precisely that: a commitment to doing the work.

OBITUARIES
Yesterday's Fads: Remembering Corporate Gifting Trends that Flatlined
Rest in Peace: Cheap Swag
Cheap Swag, born sometime in the 1960's, has left us and we wish this trend could have died sooner. It is survived by long-lasting, high quality, and sustainable gifts that people enjoy much more often.
Although Cheap Swag has made a negative impact on our planet, we hope it rests in peace.
In memory of Large Prominent Logos on Gifts
In 2024, Large Prominent Logos featured on corporate gifts took its final breath. The trend, although once a standard ubiquity with swag, has taken a devastating blow and succumbed to a more natural state.
Large Prominent Logos is survived by its successors, Small Tastefully Placed Logos and Discreet Yet Intentionally Placed Logos. No services will be held.
A Farewell Toast to Alcoholic Gifts
With a heavy heart, we bid adieu
to the once-beloved tradition of giving gifts of alcohol. Once the life of the party, this boozy gesture has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of merry memories and perhaps a few regrettable hangovers.
In a world of increasing nonalcoholic trends, like mocktails and the sober-curious movement, the humble spirit will be fondly remembered.
Alcoholic gifts are survived by classy barware & rocks glasses, delicious mixers, and clever alcohol alternatives. In lieu of flowers, please raise a glass of kombucha in its honor, and let us toast to its spirited journey into the beyond.
Dearly Departed Desk Tchotchkes
Though still cherished by many, this custom gift now finds itself overshadowed by the irresistible allure of Travel & Leisure Gifts. While their convenience carries on, Travel & Leisure Gifts now carry the torch, beckoning folks to escape the confines of cubicles and embrace the great outdoors.
Desk Tchotchkes, we know we will still see you around. We hope your legacy lives on in Travel & Leisure Gifts with every passport stamp and trailblazing adventure.
RIP Cheap Plastic Branded Keychains
We bid farewell in not-so-loving memory of Cheap Plastic Branded Keychains, those miniature relics of promotional junk that cluttered our drawers and weighed down our keys.
Despite their flimsy construction and penchant for breaking at the slightest provocation, they served valiantly as silent ambassadors of brand loyalty until they ultimately ended up in the trash.
Now, as we say adieu to these cheap trinkets of yesteryear, may they find eternal repose with their predeceased, Tchotchkes and Fidget Spinners.

TAKING THE RAINS
An exclusive interview with RAINS CEO, Jan Stig Andersen.
As a true visionary in high-quality rainwear, RAINS raises the bar for what we should expect from a clothing & outerwear brand. We were honored to receive an invitation to visit RAINS at their Manhattan office this year, providing us the opportunity to meet their esteemed team and engage in dialogue with Jan Stig Andersen, the CEO of RAINS. His profound insights into the future trajectory of fashion, corporate gifting, sustainability, and RAINS' pivotal role in these domains left a lasting impression.
C&T:
If you had to predict one major trend in fashion for the next decade, what would it be and why?
RAINS:
What I think is the most important thing that we do is more and more innovation to make our products last longer. One thing we do, if you look at our collection, is make it monochromatic. It’s all very clean, almost naive designs. This is intentional. We know that if you use standard colors, you can always match them with other items in your wardrobe.
What we aim for is longevity. Right now, people only wear items for about three to four years on average. If we can get that up to five or six years, then everything we do towards sustainability will become even more achievable.
In the end, it’s our number one priority to extend the longevity of our products - through innovations that make them last and colors that stay in style.
C&T:
That's so funny - we hadn’t thought to connect monochrome colors with sustainability before.
RAINS:
If you have too many different colors, the customer gets tired of them. Then what happens? They get rid of them. Choosing classic colors, combined with cool designs - people keep the items for longer. Even the green color that we choose is very intentionally selected - it’s a specific green that stays in style.
Also, if you look at everything in our line, jackets, bags, it is all made with polyurethane (PU), aside from the new fleece jackets. We simply apply different treatments to PU rather than differing our materials. If you went to our fabric supplier and asked them how many ways we do jackets, they’d say we do it one way. We just treat the material differently.
"WE TRULY BELIEVE THAT IT’S SOMETHING THAT CONSUMERS SHOULD TAKE AS A GIVEN. IT SHOULD BE THE STANDARD THAT WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO MAKE OUR PRODUCTS IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE."
ABOUT JAN
With a focus on innovative Scandinavian design and sustainability, Jan Stig Andersen has elevated RAINS to global acclaim as its CEO. Leveraging years of experience with internationally renowned brands in retail and fashion, he now applies his expertise to drive RAINS' growth and expansion as a leader in the fashion industry. Beyond his executive role, Andersen is dedicated to philanthropy, supporting environmental and social initiatives, and shaping RAINS into a symbol of modernity and responsibility.

Hilo Weekend Bag $110
C&T:
RAINS recently made a notable appearance at Paris Fashion Week. Can you share the inspiration behind this collection and the impact that participating in such a prestigious event has on the brand's direction and visibility?
RAINS:
I remember a lot of people at the fashion shows asking, “What is a rainwear company doing here?” Well, it’s about how we perceive ourselves as a brand. The cool thing about RAINS is that you have the functionality—that our clothing protects you against the rain and keeps you dry. But you also have the fashion, the style. The combination of these is what makes us strong.
If you’re only making functional products and you’re not looking at what is cool or stylish, then you’re limiting yourself to one customer segment. If you’re only focused on the fashion of what you make, then you’re focusing on another specific segment. It limits you. Participating in Paris Fashion Week was a milestone for RAINS, showcasing our unique style and opening new doors globally.
C&T:
RAINS has been gaining popularity in the corporate gifting space. What do you believe makes your products particularly appealing for corporate gifting?
RAINS:
Corporate gifting is very different from the fashion world, but they are both tied to awareness. Younger people who are into fashion are more aware of RAINS inherently. But gifting is helping broaden our reach.
Companies tend to choose the same basic gifts repeatedly, and it’s become a little boring. They just need something new, you know? I think we bring a cooler way to do gifting to the table. If companies dare to do something a little differently with RAINS, then we are excited about that.
Another way we can stand out in corporate gifting is that we believe in never running out of stock. That means we have products accessible all the time, and we can back up high-volume orders even on short notice.
If you take all of these things and put them together, I think we are a very strong player in the corporate gifting industry.

C&T:
As far as your long-term sustainability goals, what is your unique approach, and how do you hope to innovate in the industry?
RAINS:
Product longevity is vital, but a company’s choices can also make a big impact. Our processing in production is done using water, eliminating the use of chemicals. It’s a little more expensive, but it’s important to be able to recycle the water and clean it for the sake of the bigger picture.
Stateside, it goes by the name of “greenwashing,” where companies talk a lot about what they’re doing to be sustainable without a lot to back it up. We have a good mentality about sustainability, and we don’t talk much about it. That’s because we truly believe that it’s something that consumers should take as a given. It should be the standard that we do everything we can to make our products in the best way possible.
I think we need to go back to the beginning—earlier in the pipeline, with production. Then, at the other end, in the future, we ensure people are using things for longer. We can take responsibility collectively without sacrificing quality or style. That’s ultimately the key, and that's why we at RAINS make the choices that we do. Looking ahead, RAINS remains committed to innovation and sustainability, envisioning a future where style meets responsibility seamlessly.
