Celebrating creative, talented and original brilliance “Creativity now is as important as literacy and should be treated with the same status…” Sir Ken Robinson

The array of talent on show at the recent CHS Creative Arts Evening was truly magnificent and at times awe inspiring. This is a new event in our school calendar showcasing the work of the Drama, Music, Textiles and Food Technology Departments. The large and appreciative audience were treated to a debut performance from our Glee Club as well as a fantastic selection of memorable ensemble and solo musical performances. Delicious canapés were made and served in the interval by the GCSE Food Technology group and judging from the empty platters they were clearly a huge success. The highlight for many in the first half was the catwalk show of GCSE and A level Textiles coursework. Corsets and some incredibly imaginative garment creations from the sixth form as well as innovative festival attire from Year 11 were paraded with great excitement and aplomb. Well done to all involved.

Y9 boys took on a crack team of CHS Dads (plus Mr Collins) at the first ever ‘Lads v Dads’ football charity match at Coombe Dingle. The day was a huge success as a social occasion and will become an annual event with a mothers and daughters game too!

CHS rugby coach, Mr Matt Salter came to talk to Y2 about his diet and exercise when he was playing rugby full-time for Bristol. The questions he asked really made the children think about what they had been learning in Science this term.
