Common laundry problems and solutions to over come them!

Doing Laundry or getting things Dry cleaned can be such an effort at the best of times, but what happens when you hit a problem like a stain on your favorite dress or shirt?

In this presentation we have covered some of the most common laundry problems and how to over come them.

"Dry Clean Only" Clothes!

When you purchase any item of clothing, it’s important to check that care label to see if the item is “Dry Clean Only”. Some people tend to avoid this and wash the item the generic way but it’s highly likely that the item will get damaged in the process. For these item’s it’s essential that you leave them in the care of a professional dry cleaner who can keep your item in it’s original condition as much as possible.

Be rid of Pills or “bobbles� on your favourite sweater or woolen item!

One of the ways to de-pill (remove the bobbles) any woolen item, is to brush a fabric comb lightly over the item. Another method involves rubbing a piece of pumice over the item, which does the job if used delicately, however the pumice can sometimes leave a bad smell on the garment. One last suggestion is to wash the item and let it air dry it to remove the pills.

Find that your favourite black dress is fading?

Black seems to be the universal colour of all formal clothing, it makes you look smart, professional and is also very slimming! However after 2 or 3 washes the colour starts to fade, so what’s the solution?

You can use anti-fade washing powder which prevents the chlorine in the water from fading the black dyes in your favourite items. Also as another tip, don't dry items in direct sunlight, and turn items inside out when going through a wash cycle.

The dreaded red wine stain!

It used to be that a red wine stay means “that’s it the party’s over”. However thanks to Dry Cleaning this is no longer the case! These experts know exactly what’s needed to remove tough stains like red wine, and restore your item in original condition.

Although if you fancy a more “DIY” approach…. before putting the item through a wash cycle, rub table salt on the stained area. It will help the item absorb the washing detergent more efficiently and should lift the stain out.

Keep your delicates‌‌..Delicate!

When it comes to maintaining your delicates, the best solution for keeping them in original condition is to hand wash them, especially if they are silk or satin.

However underwear that is made of a cotton will survive a normal wash cycle, just remember to wash them with similar colours on a temperature that is suitable for washing cotton.

Blood Stains!

Surprisingly a blood stain can actually be removed with cold water, but only if the stain is fresh. Simple soak the fabric in cold water and rub soap or detergent on the stained area. If you have any handy, then diluted ammonia can really be helpful to remove the blood stain.

However if the stain is dry or tough, give it to a Launderette near you.
