Clevertronics Newsletter December Christmas 2025 Edition

Page 1

FROM TONY

Hello to all our Staff. There has been a lot going on over the last quarter. I hope you enjoy reading about it in this Christmas edition of Clever Times.

Company Performance

Coming to the end of the first half of this Financial Year sees us still tracking slightly below budget and slightly up on last year. We have seen an increase in our order book which I still expect will see us tracking to budget in the upcoming months.

The market remains difficult in many areas, and I appreciate the application by everyone to get us to this position. Again, a great team effort by every department.

ERP

As you all know we went live with our ERP system on Monday 29 September. Those who have previously been involved in the implementation of an ERP system will appreciate how well our implementation was undertaken. Again, my thanks to the ERP Project Team, and to all our staff, as it is your support which has made the difference. In the upcoming period we will continue to improve automation and functions of the system and our CRM, as well as attending to the roll out of the System in the UK and the roll out of our new Field Services Module for the After Sales Team.

In the new year you will hear more about the next stage of our technology and business enablement plan, including the implementation of a Product Information Management System and our website upgrade, required to support a number of digital upgrades we are planning.

EMC Lab

The one area of product testing which we were not conducting in-house was the ERP (Electromagnetic capability) testing, which is required to be undertaken on all the products we develop. Our EMC lab was installed a few months ago and the building works incorporating the lab into the testing area will be completed before Christmas. The lab and the building works represent a combined investment over $700k. This will ensure that both the quality of our products and the speed with which we deliver products remains the best in the industry.

Christmas Wishes

As I often say, the key to our success has always been the dedication and personal commitment of everyone who is a part of Clevertronics. On behalf of myself and Liz, I would like to convey our heartfelt appreciation for that, and also our best wishes for your Christmas break and for the new year.

TECHNICAL SERVICES CONFERENCE

Brisbane Bound: Highlights from the 2025 Technical Services Conference

What do you get when you mix innovation, collaboration, and a little axe throwing? The 2025 Technical Services Conference in Brisbane, of course! This year’s event brought together teams from across the country for three days of learning, connecting, and a whole lot of fun.

After recovering from flight turbulence, including two landing attempts for the VIC team, the energy was palpable from the moment we got together. The conference offered something for everyone, with sessions spanning After Sales Strategy, emerging products and technologies such as Hive Combine, business updates and cross-functional collaboration. Every team member played a role in the thought-provoking workshops, which explored themes like ‘The Future of Commissioning’ and ‘Mastering Challenging Customer Conversations.’ Whether diving into strategic planning, cloud innovations, or discovering new paperless commissioning tools, participants walked away with fresh perspectives and actionable insights

But it wasn’t all business. One of the most talkedabout moments? The axe throwing social event. We traded laptops for lumberjack vibes and tested our aim. It was a hit (literally), with plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and a few surprisingly accurate throws. Who knew our team had such hidden talents, especially Ben Munro who took the win and possibly a new sport to compete in!

Another standout was our group dinner at Chu the Phat, one of Brisbane’s most vibrant dining spots. With its bold Asian fusion menu and buzzing atmosphere, it was the perfect place to unwind and connect. Between bites of silky scallops and out-ofthis-world fried rice, conversations flowed—from project updates to travel stories and everything in between. It was a reminder that some of the best ideas (and connections) happen outside the meeting room.

Our ferry ride along the Brisbane River at dusk was another magical moment, and the bridges were lit up in blue and green, almost as if they were celebrating Clevertronics being in town! Staff from other states pointed out various buildings to their QLD colleagues, prompting interesting stories and insights into their ‘hood. We got to check out their amazing office space for workshop sessions on our final day of conference.

Throughout the conference, we also celebrated the incredible work happening across Technical

Services. During the Tech Managers’ presentations, we heard great examples of problem-solving, customer wins, and creative thinking.

As we head back to our respective locations, we’re bringing more than just conference swag. We’re bringing new perspectives, stronger connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. The conversations sparked in Brisbane will continue to shape how we work, innovate, and support each other.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise (Megan for PM!), present, and participate. Your energy made this event unforgettable, and we can’t wait for next year!

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

My superhero name would be Lumen, and my power would be Photon Manipulation — the ability to control, generate, and rewire light at a molecular level. In a blackout, I could instantly illuminate entire cities by converting ambient energy into safe, steady light. In emergencies, I’d project guiding beams that lead people to safety — like living evacuation signs. I could even bend light to make holograms, send coded messages, or cloak areas in darkness to protect civilians.

What’s something about you that would surprise us?

I'm a motorcycle track day enthusiast.

What’s your favourite Christmas/go to movie?

Love Actually.

PROJECTS SEGMENT

– NEW BUILDS & SPECIFICATION

The Project Sales Team is always looking forward at new and exciting opportunities to win landmark projects and new customers, and as we approach the end of the year it’s a good time to have a look back over the last 12 months and have a look at some of the things that have kept us so busy and growing!

Much of the hard work, new product launches and customer initiatives we have put in over the last 12 months have not only resulted in growing sales right now, but have set us up with a great platform and momentum to build on for next year and beyond. An example of this is Hive Combine which was officially launched at the end of March, after a series of “prelaunch” events in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Wellington, Christchurch, and Auckland. Phew- yes we were busy!

But they were a lot of fun too, and with comedian Arj Barker as our MC and host for every event, I think some of us could remember most of his comedy routine word for word by the end of it! At my age, I could especially relate to his story about a long and detailed science article he read that explained how doctors can now predict not only the chances of you getting Alzheimer’s disease, but also when you are going to get it! Imagine, that- knowing when you will start losing your memory etc!

It doesn’t sound like much of a comedy story, but later on in the show, after he repeats the exact same story as if it is the first time he has told it (and can’t remember telling it earlier in the show) brought the house down. Very funny.

The launch of Hive Combine has also generated a lot of interest and enquiries for Zoneworks Hive itself, and allowed us to promote new or improved features like Live Drawings, new Energy Dashboards, new Emergency Lighting Dashboards and a host of topics to engage and discuss with our customers!

This was all possible with the platform laid down by

the “pre- launch” events we did earlier. We had very funny comedian Arj Barker as host and MC for these events, who had a very strange and funny take on life. At my age, I could especially relate to his story about a long and detailed science article he read that explained how doctors can now predict not only the chances of you getting Alzheimer’s disease, but also when you are going to get it! Imagine, that- knowing when you will start losing your memory etc!

Merry Christmas and have a happy & safe New Year!

D2D SEGMENT - WHOLESALERS

Team Update – On the Road and Back at HQ

It’s been a busy and rewarding period spent out in the states, catching up with our local sales teams and supporting the rollout of our key sales initiatives. Traveling around has also given me the chance to meet with a number of our CleverChampions and connect directly with local customers, which continues to be one of the most valuable parts of the role.

Back at head office, things haven’t slowed down. We’ve recently hosted a number of our major wholesale partners, including groups from across L&H Victoria/Tasmania, CNW regions in Queensland and South Australia, as well as teams from Rexel and Middys. These sessions have been a great opportunity to align, share updates, and strengthen the partnerships that keep driving our momentum in the D2D market.

On top of that, we’ve had numerous opportunities to present at NFIA events around the states, further strengthening our industry engagement and visibility.

20 years ago I was a spring chicken with some brown hair when I arrived for the interview in the Moorabbin office, not the good Moorabbin office, the dingy one. I saw Max the storemen outside the roller door yelling at someone they were yelling back. I thought, I don’t want to work here! Back then there were only about 20 people in the whole place, it was always busy I have met some great people here, but they have all left and now you guys are here. Clevertronics has grown immensely, even Covid could not slow it down. Thanks Tony, for employing me, I have enjoyed my time here especially lunch and weekends. Go Tigers!

Thank you for your passion, commitment and dedication over the last 20 years! Wishing you a wonderful retirement!

PRODUCT, INNOVATION & ENGINEERING

Our Product and Engineering teams have been busy delivering new products, custom project solutions, and sustainable packaging initiatives, while designing the next generation of battens set to launch later next year.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s happening:

48V Temporary Lighting range

We’ve released our 48V Temporary Lighting range, delivering a major performance boost over the existing 24V system. The new range allows up to 30 emergency battens to connect to a single power supply, making it more efficient and versatile for large-scale applications.

Special Projects Spotlight

Our recent work on a brass exit sign for the Melbourne Arts Centre showcases our commitment to bespoke solutions and meeting unique project requirements with precision and creativity.

Sustainability in Packaging

We’re in the final stages of testing recycled paper bags for decals, replacing plastic packaging without compromising product protection. Once rolled out across the range, this initiative will eliminate approximately 300,000 plastic bags—a big step toward reducing environmental impact.

Looking Ahead: What’s Coming Next

Here’s a sneak peek at some exciting developments for the year ahead:

• Updated Argo Plus and Pro Designed to meet Green Star lighting specifications, featuring a new and improved case kit.

• Next-Generation Weatherproof Exit Engineered from the ground up to deliver performance, aesthetics, and competitive pricing demanded by today’s market.

LIGHTING DESIGN & PROJECT SUPPORT

The Project Support team attended this year’s Technical Services Conference, which proved highly successful. We presented an overview of our current documentation support service, which includes:

Preparing HIVE Combine mark-ups, including fitting numbering, registers, control zone allocations, and any required control philosophies or function descriptions.

• Assisting with database pre-configuration, either upfront for new sites or by coordinating access to the latest database or live gateway for existing sites.

• Providing additional project documentation such as Site Functional Descriptions, ITPs, and ITRs, and maintaining involvement through commissioning and completion.

We look forward to seeing how this team continues to support Technical Services throughout the lifecycle of projects.

MARKETING / SEGMENTS / CUSTOMER SERVICE / AFTERSALES

Over the past few months, we’ve achieved some significant milestones together. In early October, we successfully rolled out the new ERP System, NetSuite, across the business. Given the scale of the project and the numerous departments involved, this was no small feat! A big thank you to the ERP Team for their relentless focus and dedication, and to the Customer Service team across ANZ for their positive mindset and adaptability in making this major change their new norm. This project has set our core business systems on the right path, providing a scalable platform to support our continuous growth.

In Marketing and Segments, it’s been full throttle! We’re pushing forward with new builds and upgrade projects, focusing on 'extending the reach' through key segment initiatives and product launches to maintain momentum in these markets. In the wholesale space, our presence remains strong with major promotion programs driving sell-in and sellthrough leading up to Christmas, boosting our brand’s visibility in-branch. Our communications program is also gaining momentum as we consistently engage with the market through various channels such as EDMs, web, and social media platforms.

The After Sales team recently wrapped up the 2025 Technical Services Conference in Brisbane, where they spent 1.5 days in workshops focusing on strategy, best practices, and experience exchange. This will help shape our technical practices and outcomes, continuing to add value to our customers and their experience.

There’s always so much going on, and it’s hard to capture it all! The team is fully committed to delivering impactful programs for 2026. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful break with your families.

CUSTOMER SERVICE UPDATE

Wrapping Up 2025 with the Customer Service

As we head into the festive season and close out another big year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on just how far we’ve come together. This year brought one of our biggest milestones yet — the rollout of NetSuite!

To say it’s been a learning curve would be an understatement. The determination, patience, and perseverance shown by the Customer Service team have been nothing short of outstanding. Learning a completely new system after mastering both Syteline and Dynamics is no small feat yet you’ve all tackled it with grit, teamwork, and plenty of good humour.

A massive thank you to everyone for embracing the

challenge and supporting each other through the transition.

Our Central Team is now back to full strength and charging ahead! We’ve had some fantastic new additions- Christine, Chris, and Linh; each bringing their own energy, experience, and spark to the group. It’s been great to see everyone settling in and contributing to the momentum we’ve built.

Speaking of Linh, she recently returned from a trip to Japan and shared some brilliant photos of exit lighting she spotted along the way (because once you work at Clevertronics, you really can’t stop noticing them!).Our favourite shot featured a mysterious sign we’re still trying to translate; we thought it could mean….“exit if there’s a fire”… maybe?

Jokes aside, it was fascinating to see how exit lighting varies across countries, and a great reminder of the global impact Exit and Emergency and importance these products have in saving lives.

If there’s one thing this year wasn’t, it’s boring!

Between quoting marathons, countless customer calls, and inboxes that never seem to rest, the team still managed to create some unforgettable moments:

Engagements: Congratulations to our wonderful CSO Brigiette on her engagement early this year - we couldn’t be happier for you!

Broken Bones & Hospital Adventures: From surprise tumbles to home renovation injuries, it’s been a dramatic year for a few of our CS teammates. Thankfully, everyone is on the mend (and with some great stories to tell!).

CSOs Took Flight: From conference and induction trips to Melbourne to well-earned overseas bucket trip adventures, our team made the most of 2025. Whether it was work or play, there was plenty of travel and connection along the way.

Delivering the best service to our customers isn’t something the Customer Service team does alone. It’s a true company-wide effort.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible teams across Warehousing, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Product Enquiry, Lighting Design, Technical Services and BDMs.Your ongoing support, collaboration, and problem-solving behind the scenes make all the difference in helping us respond quickly, find solutions, and deliver the outstanding service Clevertronics is known for. We couldn’t do what we do without you - thank you for being extensions to the

customer service team.

As we wrap up 2025, take a moment to appreciate everything we’ve achieved. It’s been a year of learning, laughter, and resilience, and most importantly continuously providing our customers with the best service possible and every one of you has played a huge part in that success.

Here’s to a well-earned Christmas break, some rest and recovery, and a bright, exciting 2026 ahead.

Merry Christmas to all from the Customer

OPERATIONS

Announcing Our Successful Go-Live with NetSuite!

We are excited to share that the Operations department has successfully completed the Go-Live of NetSuite and all our integrated software programs! This achievement comes after months of careful planning, teamwork, and dedication from everyone involved. Our new ERP system is now fully operational, marking a major milestone for our organization.

The journey began with some uncertainty, especially for the Supply Chain team. Learning new processes and managing change can be challenging, but thanks to everyone’s commitment, we managed

a smooth transition. Our ability to supply products continued without interruption, and we maintained clear visibility on delivery dates. Keeping Netstock as our planning software was a wise decision, and we are already seeing the benefits. We look forward to ongoing improvements as we continue to optimize our processes.

The Production department faced the biggest changes, especially after moving away from our old homemade MES software system. Adapting to new tools and workflows was not easy, but the production team rose to the challenge. Through hard work and attention to detail, we are almost reaching our preGo-Live output levels. This success is a testament to the dedication of our planners, production staff, warehouse employees, and the ERP team.

Warehouse staff also had to learn both NetSuite and our new RF-Smart system, one of the best warehouse management tools available. With these upgrades, we now use the same processes in all warehouses, making it easier to share staff and avoid bottlenecks across different locations.

Looking ahead, our next step is to synchronize Arena with NetSuite to further improve our data and efficiency. The future is bright for our team as we embrace new technology and ways of working.

Also, our SMT line project is moving ahead very well, and we expect that by the time this Clever-times is published, you will see the machines fully installed and operating!

Officially an Aussie! Congratulations to Marion!
