Our School We want all our children to feel safe, healthy, happy, and successful At St Paul’s with St Michael’s children really matter. Every child’s ability is recognised, developed and rewarded. We welcome children from all backgrounds and abilities. Our curriculum is tailored to meet individual needs and aspirations, which ensure all our pupils are interested and motivated to learn. Each child’s progress is monitored regularly so we can provide extra support and new challenges wherever they are needed. From an early age our pupils enjoy becoming confident in using computers to support and enhance their learning. Our extensive ICT facilities include laptops, interactive whiteboards in every class and a computer bay in every classroom with full internet access. The creative arts play a large part in the life of our school. All pupils have the opportunity to learn an instrument, participate in drama and dance and develop their skills through an extensive range of art activities. We want all our pupils to feel safe, healthy, happy, and successful. We nurture strong links between home and school and value support and contributions from parents and members of the local community. We invite you to join our thriving Parent Teacher Association, which brings families together to support the school financially and socially. We also offer Family Learning opportunities where you can find out about how to support your child at home and extend your own skills.

Children’s page “Our school is a great place to learn and have fun.” Year 6 Pupil We put children at heart of everything we do. This page is for the children to express their views about school life. When we asked our pupils about school life, these were their answers:

“ The teachers are really friendly and they make you feel welcomed.” “ School is fun. It is my last year and I will never forget this lovely school.” “ I think my school is really good because you get fun lessons.” “ We get to play lots of sports.” “ The children are very respectful and set good examples for their classes.” “ We go on fun trips and even swimming once a week.” “ Our dinners are very healthy. We get lots to choose from. We get to try new foods.”

Church page We value our partnership with St. Michael and All Angels Church We have several services at our Church. These include Harvest Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and a Leaver’s service at the end of the year, for Years 2 and 6. The Vicar leads weekly assemblies at the school, and we have a Eucharist once a term for each Key Stage. As an inclusive Church School, we celebrate all faiths and welcome their members into our community. The children are taught about different faith traditions, and have the opportunity to visit their places of worship. The school’s Christian foundation is expressed by two core commandments: to love God and our neighbour as ourselves. We seek to put these commandments into action on a daily basis: • by showing respect and kindness to one another, • by relating in a positive way to the wider community, • by building an awareness of the need to care for the poor, and the future of our planet.

Creativity in the Curriculum Enjoyment of Reading is at the Heart of Our Curriculum At St. Paul’s with St. Michael’s we have designed a topic-based curriculum to make learning fun. Each class has a termly topic that becomes a focus for learning. At the beginning of every term we have a ‘launch day’ where all the children come dressed up to represent their topic and the classroom is decorated with displays and work to support the learning. Parents are invited to join us in assemblies to celebrate the launch of our topics. Exciting and challenging reading books are chosen by the teacher to support this learning and where possible links are made to other subjects. All our trips and outings support the learning of the topic to enhance children’s experiences. All the core skills from the National Curriculum are covered in a more meaningful way.
