OUR ETHOS

Our people are valued, celebrated, nurtured and supported on their journey to success

“ Students become active citizens who want to improve society.” Ofsted 2021

We provide the Edge. We are proud to be one of the top schools both in the South West and nationally (Sunday Times, ParentPower). This is not an accolade judged by outcomes alone, it is a measure of holistic quality of education. We are pioneers in education, constantly seeking and providing excellence of opportunity for our young people. Our mission is simple. To enable our students to be healthy and happy, to have the confidence to be themselves. To develop into dynamic thinkers able to learn, unlearn and re-learn as life requires. To belong within our community and be ready for whatever they want to be in the world. Alongside subject mastery, our The Edge programme provides opportunities for leadership and service and personal growth. Through these vibrant experiences our young people develop the necessary self-awareness, knowledge, attributes and skills to succeed now and in the future.

“ Students work hard, strive for and achieve success.” Ofsted 2021

Our curriculum provides learning which extends beyond any particular subject. Our Sixth Form Centre provides high quality A Level Provision opening the doors to Higher Education, Apprenticeships and the world of work. Our subjects build cultural capital – the accumulation of knowledge, behaviours and skills necessary to succeed. Our inspirational staff are creative, they fire the imagination of our students through a combination of intellectual challenge, expert subject knowledge and mutual trust. Recognising the importance of subject mastery, we offer the super-curricular challenge required for study at Russell Group Universities. Every subject provides opportunity to explore beyond the confines of the exam specification.
