We have both the great privilege and the great responsibility of working with children to help them transform their lives. This academy achieves outstanding academic results, year after year, that place us amongst the highest performing schools in the country. But we are equally proud of our pastoral care and personal development programme which gives children the chance to become a better version of themselves whilst contending with the challenges of the modern world. The HACH way means we go further than every other school to do what it takes to enable success. We are a school for the future.

HACH is different to every other school. We exist to provide our children with an education that ensures both great achievements and a good character. This combination affords our children every chance to flourish when they leave us. We are a school for the future.

“STUDENTS ARE VERY WELL CARED FOR IN THEIR ACADEMIC AND PERSONAL NEEDS. ACADEMIC RESULTS ARE OUTSTANDING AND STUDENTS LEAVE THE SCHOOL AS MATURE AND CONFIDENT YOUNG PEOPLE”

The Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Seven Year Journey

Our Academy is not just an institution for education but for aspiration and achievement. Students who join us for the five years up to GCSE are joining an ambitious and wellestablished educational community. All students have the opportunity to complete their 7-year journey with Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in our highly successful Sixth Form.

“ TEACHERS ENCOURAGE A ‘CAN DO’ PHILOSOPHY THAT STUDENTS RESPOND TO AND SO OFTEN WORK TO HIGHER LEVELS.”

Our wonderful curriculum is central to our success delivering a rich and varied range of subjects including Mandarin, Latin and Ancient History. We place powerful knowledge at the heart of our curriculum as we firmly believe that all children should have access to the best of what has been thought and said. We want students to know more and remember more over time so that they become increasingly confident learners and can take the next step in their education as second to no-one.

Learning at the Academy

Students who find aspects of learning challenging are supported by our dedicated team of Learning Support Tutors, who work tirelessly to ensure all students feel they can achieve and succeed. We monitor every student and are proud to offer tailored intervention sessions to any student who needs extra support, guidance or further challenge.

Students begin to personalise their education at the end of Key Stage Three, as they consider their future pathways towards GCSE. We offer a broad range of subjects delivered by specialist teaching staff, to equip students for further study and future employment. We encourage as much student choice as possible, within the national framework of qualifications.

Whilst we look to the future, we also uphold important traditions. We expect children to work hard; every lesson, every day because there are no short-cuts to achievement. We expect children to play by the rules and behave impeccably both inside and outside of the classroom so that we have disruption free classrooms and happy corridors. We have exacting standards regarding uniform, equipment and punctuality because in the urgent business of learning not a minute can be wasted. We believe in adult authority and our staff challenge children to give their all so that they can have every chance of success.

Families are kept fully informed of the progress of their child, at every Key Stage. Regular updates on the progress of students are available throughout the school year via data reports, email, phone calls home, and parents evenings.

As well as the brilliant teaching your child will experience at our Academy, they will also receive regular homework and preparation tasks at each level to inspire a curiosity beyond the classroom. This work encourages students to become increasingly fluent in their learning.

The success of our Academy lies in the relationship built between our staff, students and their guardians. Communication regarding student progress begins with the transition process, linking Primary School to Secondary School. Our students are then fully integrated through provisions set by our Key Stage Three, Special Educational Needs and Pastoral Teams. This foundational support encourages well rounded student development. Once they are part of our community, students are encouraged to contribute to Make their Mark and contribute to academy life.

We send many of our sixth formers to Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities – winning places on these prestigious courses at a rate of more than twice the national average – as well as top apprenticeships and competitive vocational courses. We are immensely proud of the role that our alumni are now beginning to play in the world and of what we believe our current generation of pupils will go on to achieve.

What makes this Academy so successful? Students who enjoy learning and look forward to coming to school each day; teachers and support staff who are genuinely ambitious for every student; a senior leadership team that consistently sets standards of excellence.
