RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD HELPS TO DEFINE US AND IS PART OF OUR COLLECTIVE IDENTITY. Our aim is to prepare children for their role as members of the local, national and global community. Our status as a Gold ‘Rights Respecting’ school demonstrates our commitment to developing a school environment where difference is valued and nurtured and our pupils understand others and are equipped for life in a diverse and rapidly changing society. Every child is recognised as a unique individual and we endeavour to provide learning experiences for pupils that enable them to realise their strengths and potential, regardless of gender, background or ability.

CURRICULUM OUR SKILLS-BASED LEARNING PROVIDES CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENTS WHERE INDEPENDENCE, THINKING SKILLS, COLLABORATION AND ACTIVE LEARNING ARE DEVELOPED AT THE SAME TIME AS KNOWLEDGE IS ACQUIRED. The curriculum is organised and sequenced to consolidate prior learning by revisiting knowledge and skills time and time again to ensure that all children know more, remember more and can do more. We create a fabulous

learning environment, where we place great importance on trips, workshops, clubs and other exciting opportunities to ensure learning comes to life!

READING WE ARE A READING SCHOOL. We are determined that all pupils will learn to read, regardless of their background, need or ability; our curriculum is designed to ensure children have access to reading activities in all subjects. As a result, children develop a lifelong love for reading.

EYFS IN OUR SCHOOL, WE KNOW THAT THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) IS A CRUCIAL TIME FOR CHILDREN, IN WHICH THEY DEVELOP FIRM FOUNDATIONS TO BE BUILT UPON THROUGHOUT THEIR SCHOOL JOURNEY AND BEYOND. We work in partnership with parents and carers to support children to become confident and happy learners, who make progress in their learning, whatever their starting point, and reach their full potential. Every child is recognised as a unique individual and we celebrate and welcome differences within our school community.

We believe that children should come to school feeling excited to play and learn with their friends. Our child centred curriculum is based on topics which the children are interested in and ensures children have lots of fun experiences and moments. Learning flows seamlessly between indoors and outdoors and allows for endless creative and imaginative opportunities.

ART Every child has the right to create and express themselves with confidence and imagination. We are very lucky to have our own wonderful Art Studio and full-time art/ music teacher.

MUSIC Children develop their musical skills and knowledge through listening to music, singing and playing musical instruments. We offer additional music tuition with specialist tutors.

PE Our PE lessons allow children to experience various sporting activities; competing at different levels and abilities both in and outside school.. KS2 children also have swimming lessons. We recognise and value the impact that sport can have on personal success and enjoyment. Encouragement and praise are given to raise self-esteem and develop a sense of wellbeing which continues into later life.

EXTRA CURRICULAR FOREST SCHOOL

EXTENDED DAY

Forest school provides an excellent opportunity for children to learn in a natural outdoor environment through play. It allows children to develop their confidence, communication and become independent learners. Children learn to handle risk and also develop their problem solving skills, supporting their physical and mental wellbeing.

The school offers a breakfast club from 7.45am to 8.30am to children from Reception to Year 6. Children are provided with breakfast and have a range of activities to ensure they have a great start to their school day. We also offer a range of after school clubs.

RESIDENTIAL VISITS Our older children get the opportunity to discover the joy of learning through adventure during a residential visit to an outdoor activity centre. This trip will provide children with memories that last a lifetime.
