River Jam a success at the Ripley Library Last month the Ripley Library held the first Ripley River Jam and the turnout was fantastic! A group of musicians and music lovers from Ripley, Maysville and the surrounding area showed up to support and celebrate local music. The repertoire included polka, old-time fiddle, freeform improvisation, classic rock, and bluegrass - making for a very memorable and entertaining evening! The age range was as diverse as the repertoire with the youngest participant (a fiddle player from Maysville)
only nine years old. The Ripley Library will hold the second Ripley River Jam on Tuesday, May 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. and we hope that we will see some new faces along with all of those who supported and participated in the previous jam. Local audio engineer, Steven Strunk (of Mecca Media Works) plans to record future jam sessions as part of a Library project to preserve and archive local music. The Ripley River Jam is free and open to the public - for more information, contact Harry Pedigo at 937-392-4871.
