Southern State cuts the ribbon BY Wayne Gates The Brown County Press Years of hoping and planning paid off on Aug. 20 as Southern State Community College officially cut the ribbon to open the Mt. Orab campus. “The facility dedication we are hosting here today is just one component of us ful-

filling Southern State’s mission and vision,” said Dr. Kevin Boys, SSCC President. “In dedicating this facility tonight, we also dedicate ourselves to ensuring that what happens inside these walls continues to be relevant and responsive. career tech centers so that more high school students will set their sights on post high school education. Orab and

Brown County continue to grow. I think that our enrollment will grow as well and it’s a win for everyone involved” said SSCC Board Member Paul Hall. He added that the new building was only the beginning in the long term planning for the campus. “We believe that this building will eventually be

one of four. Long term, we see this as a campus of four buildings”, Hall said. He added that there was more construction planned for the immediate future for the college. “We are already looking forward to building a new campus in Adams County and we hope to have that project underway as soon as

next Spring.” Hall said the new Adams County campus would be one story, but have the same floor plan as the new Mt. Orab campus. “That will save us tens of thousands of dollars in architectural fees and other costs”, Hall said. He also expressed his CONTINUED ON PAGE 9
