AUTHOR AND FINISHER Hebrews 12:1-2: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Everything we know about salvation is traced back to Jesus Christ Himself! He is the author of our faith. Look, if you would, at Hebrews 5:9: "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" God has commanded all men everywhere to repent and to accept His Son as Saviour. Those that obey can and will be saved from eternal damnation. The gift of eternal life is free to all of mankind. If you are saved, it is good to know that your salvation is eternal and not temporary. Is it not? What a comfort! Now look with me in Hebrews 2:9-10: "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." Again in John 1:3 the Bible tells us that all things were made by Jesus. It says: "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." Colossians 1:17 says: "And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." So everything we have goes all the way back to Jesus, who is the captain of our salvation. Verse 11 of Hebrews 2 goes on to say: "For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one:..."
REV. TED R. HOUSE BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH MT. ORAB www.bbcmtorab.com Verse 10 clearly states that He is in charge of all things and that all things are by Him. Therefore, salvation is by Him, making Him the captain of our salvation. The word "captain" and the word "author" in these two different places in the book of Hebrews has the same root word. But when the translators looked at it, with the help of the Holy Spirit, there was just enough difference in that word that in one place they translated it "captain" and in another place "author". However, it is the same Jesus! He is both the Captain of my Salvation and the Author of my Salvation! Go to Revelation 1:8. Jesus said: "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,..." He is the beginning! The definition of the word author is: the one who creates something; the source, the cause, or the one who makes the beginning. Jesus Christ is the ultimate Alpha and the ultimate Omega. Look at the rest of that verse: "...saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." Jesus is eternal! He is the perfect, sinless, Son of God; the author and finisher of our faith. In verse 18 He said: "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." He has the keys of hell and death and it is your choice whether or not you will obey His command to repent. It is entirely up to you to receive or not to receive His free gift of eternal salvation. You determine your destination, whether it will be Heaven or Hell.

Nineteen years ago, G. L. Corum began hunting for the earliest organized resistance to slavery; a few footnotes pointed to southwestern Ohio. Corum moved to West Union in Adams County and kept researching and stumbled across the Grant family name. Accumulating more and more information on families committed to ending slavery, the Grant family connected in key places. Corum turned to focus on young Ulysses. A whole new dimension to America's 18th president and victorious Civil War general came into view. The Ripley Library is located at the corner of US 52 and Main Street in Ripley. Dear Tony, Ten years have passed since you made heaven your home. We all sometimes feel we are all alone. Though we are so far apart, you still hold a piece of our hearts. We did not know how much or how long we would grieve, that sad day you had to leave. We hold so dear our thoughts and memories of you. But know someday our love for you will be renewed. Your worth cannot be measured and our memories of you are a treasure.
So sadly missed by your loving family
