THE PAYMENT IS GREATER
Matthew 10:32-33: “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” What you do on earth is going to settle where you are going to be in heaven. If you are willing to confess Him before men does not mean in the sweet by and by. That is right now. If you confess Him, He is going to say: I know this person, he is mine. You are to let people know that you belong to Christ, not hide the fact. If you do not claim Him now, what do you expect Him to do when you get over there? These verses are talking about things going on here, not the hereafter. You know, when it comes right down to it, a person has a choice to say: yes, I want to be saved, or no, I am going to refuse Him. Most of the time I have found that people will say: I am not ready yet. Well, when I was a kid, we used to play hide and seek. One person would stand against a tree, close their eyes, and count to 100 while the others hid. The one who had his eyes closed would then yell: here I come, ready or not, and then go and look for the hidden ones. If he found one, he would chase him and if he caught him before the one got back to touch the tree, he would tag him and say: you’re it. One day Jesus is going to say: I am coming, ready or not! And for soem it will be everlastingly too late to choose whether or not to accept Him. They waited too long to make their decision or said no one too many times! Remember the man we discussed earlier, a week or so ago, who said: “me first”? It can not be you first and Him second. Some people want to live their life doing whatever they want to do first and then accept Christ. However, the Bible says in II Corinthians 6:2: “...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Hebrews 3:7-8: “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation...” But you say that some people have sinned too greatly to be saved. I have had people say to me

that if a person murdered someone they couldn’t be saved. My question to you is: do you think that the sin of the wicked person is greater than the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross? I will tell you which is greater. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ is greater than any sin committed anywhere at anytime in the whole world. Listen: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Therefore, there is no sin that is greater than the sacrifice of Christ! However, if you think that you are bad, the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, can cleanse you from all sin! If the payment isn’t greater than the debt, then the debt would overwhelm the payment. God did not send His Son to die on the cross in vain. The payment can not be overwhelmed by the debt! He did not die in vain! He can change your life and you will not have to be what you were before. You can become a new person in Christ. II Corinthians 5:17 states: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” I John 1:7 tells us: “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Now, there is a question about the blood of Christ which has caused great controversy in the last 50+ years. We will discuss it next week!
