Great Teams Highlights

• Clemson defeated N.C. State, Duke and North Carolina in winning the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on February 27-March 1. The Lady Tigers defeated N.C. State in the quarterfinals 52-51. In the semifinals, Clemson defeated Duke, 76-71. In the championship game, Clemson defeated North Carolina, 87-72. It was the second ACC Championship for the Lady Tigers in school history. • Clemson finished the season with a 26-6 record overall.

• The Lady Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Final 16.

• The Lady Tigers were ranked 10th in the final AP poll and were listed 13th in the final USA Today rankings.

• Amy Geren and Itoro Umoh were both named FirstTeam All-ACC. • Amy Geren won the women’s three-point shooting contest at St. Petersburg, FL on March 25, 1999. • Itoro Umoh had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in recording a triple double as she led Clemson to a 78-38 win over Wake Forest on January 17. This was only the fifth time a player in the history of the Atlantic Coast Conference has recorded a triple double and the second time in Clemson history. • The 11-0 start for Clemson tied the school record for consecutive wins at the beginning of the season. • Coach Jim Davis was named Coach-of-the-Year and Itoro Umoh was named all-region in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) District II. • Clemson had three 1,000-point scorers on the 1998-99 squad - Itoro Umoh (1,409), Amy Geren (1,402), and Natasha Anderson (1,033). • The senior class of Itoro Umoh, Amy Geren, Natasha Anderson, and Nikki Blassingame became the winningest class in Clemson history with a record of 93-33 for a .738 percentage.
