WhatisaSorority?
A sorority is a student-led organization for women. Providing a strong community, friendship, and support system for its members, sororities enhance the student experience inside and outside of the classroom.
Each chapter at Clemson and other universities is part of a larger national network. They have their own rituals, traditions, symbols, and sometimes housing.
Sororities also focus on giving back through community service and philanthropy, alongside hosting social events and networking opportunities.
Joining a sorority is a way for women to make lasting friendships, develop leadership skills, and get involved in campus life, preparing members to make significant contributions beyond the undergraduate experience.
There are 13 Panhellenic sororities in Tigertown.

Chris Miller serves as the vice president and dean of students for Clemson University Division of Student Affairs Miller was appointed to the full-time position in April 2021 after serving in an interim capacity following the retirement of Almeda Jacks. Miller successfully guided Student Affairs through a transitional period in which several of its departments relocated within the institution to the Finance and Operations Division creating a leaner, more student-focused organizational structure within Student Affairs The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life lies within the Division of Student Affairs

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) offers the fraternity and sorority community support that emphasizes the importance of social responsibility, academic excellence, and leadership through open communication, needs-based advising, and direct interaction with organization members and advisers. We believe in the power of values-based fraternities and sororities to create positive change.

College Panhellenic Council (CPA)
That’s us! We are an umbrella organization that governs and coordinates activities among the 13 social sororities on Clemson’s campus. We promote unity, collaboration, and adherence to national standards among our member sororities.
Interfraternity Council (IFC)
IFC is a governing body that oversees and supports the 24 social fraternities on Clemson’s campus. They foster cooperation, leadership development, and adherence to shared values among member fraternities.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
NPHC is a collaborative organization consisting of historically African American Greek-letter organizations, commonly known as the Divine Nine. They promote unity, advocacy, and cultural awareness among their member organizations.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)
MGC is an umbrella organization that represents multicultural Greek-letter organizations on college campuses. They provide support, resources, and a platform for collaboration among their member organizations, which may have diverse cultural backgrounds and interests.

The Clemson Panhellenic Council
The Clemson Panhellenic Association (CPA) is the programming and governing body of the thirteen National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities at Clemson University. Every women who joins a Panhellenie sorority at Clemson University becomes a member of this College Panhellenic Association.
The Panhellenic community at Clemson is comprised of thirteen chapters with an average chapter size of 296 members and one onboarding chapter. The council leaders consist of delegates from each chapter and nine executive officers. These leaders plan and oversee the implementation of the Primary Recruitment process in the fall, host new member education programs, and implements Panhellenic sisterhood events to enhance the unity between all chapters, and actively support GirlUp GVL, our local philanthropy.

The Clemson Panhellenic Delegates
The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) is the CPA’s governing body and is composed of one delegate and one alternate from each regular, provisional and associate member chapter at Clemson University. The College Panhellenic Council is responsible for local Panhellenic operations in accordance with CPA Unanimous Agreements, policies, best practices and procedures.
The Council of Delegates consists of one representative from each CPA member organization and has primary responsibility for Conference membership and Panhellenic policies. Each delegate is empowered to act and vote on behalf of her member organization.

Recruitment Definitions
Party
A “party” refers to the scheduled timeslots where PNMs are in chapter recruitment spaces during the Recruitment week. These parties provide an opportunity for potential new members to meet current sorority members, learn about the organization's values and activities, and determine if they feel a connection with the sorority.
COB
"COB" stands for "Continuous Open Bidding." It refers to the process by which sororities extend bids to potential new members outside of the formal recruitment period. COB allows sororities to recruit additional members to their organization after the formal recruitment events have concluded. Not all chapters at Clemson University have a COB process.
Pi Chi (aka PX, Π
X)
A Pi Chi is a member of the Panhellenic community who has chosen to disassociate from her own chapter to help unbiasedly lead a group of PNMs through the primary recruitment process.

PNM
A Potential New Member (PNM) is a woman who is registered and/or intends to participate in Fall Primary Recruitment at Clemson University. A Potential New Member is also any high school student (grades 9-12), who is considering coming to Clemson or anyone with the intent to participate in CPA Fall Primary Recruitment in the coming year.
Bid
A bid refers to an official invitation extended by a sorority to a prospective member to join their organization. It signifies that the sorority has chosen the individual to become a member based on mutual interest and compatibility.
Bid Day
The last day of recruitment, when potential new members receive bids to join chapters and become new members. Each chapter will usually host a Bid Day activity to help the new members get to know each other and the rest of the chapter, like bowling or roller skating. There is to be no alcohol use or men associated with recruitment or Bid Day.
New Member
A New Member is a woman who has received a bid from a CPA sorority but is not yet initiated into the chapter.
Active
An initiated member of a sorority currently in college.
Intentional Single Preference
When a woman lists only one chapter on her membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement (MRABA) following the preference round of primary recruitment.
Legacy
A daughter, sister or granddaughter of an initiated member of a sorority. Typically, different NPC member organizations have different definitions of legacies. Being a legacy does not guarantee a bid to a particular sorority. Each NPC member organization has its own policy for invitations to legacies during recruitment.
Quota
The number of potential new members that each chapter can offer bids to during primary recruitment. This is determined with a formula involving the number of chapters and the number of women participating in bid matching.
Recommendation Letter
A form completed by an alumna member of a sorority recommending a potential new member for membership. Recommendations may be more important at some campuses than others.
Silence period
A period of time after the end of membership recruitment events (following Preference Round) and prior to the distribution of bids when there is no communication between potential new members and sorority members.
Snap Bidding
An option available to chapters that did not match to quota. Chapters may offer bids to potential new members whose preferences were not matched after preference round. Snap bids should be coordinated and extended through the College Panhellenic, prior to the distribution of bids and the start of Bid Day activities.
Total
The allowable chapter size on a campus, as determined by the College Panhellenic, including new and active members. Chapters that fall under total may be allowed to participate in continuous open bidding until they reach total.
Values-based recruitment
A recruitment style that focuses on meaningful conversations between collegiate members and potential new members with the goal of recruiting women who will have a positive impact on chapters and the College Panhellenic community. Nonessential features such as skits, elaborate decorations and costumes are removed from the process, and the focus is on the values, benefits and obligations of membership for each organization.
Disassociated
Occurs when a recruitment counselor temporarily separates herself from her sorority during the recruitment process to act as an unbiased resource for members participating in recruitment. After the recruitment process, she rejoins her sorority.

The Recruitment Week
Primary Recruitment includes four rounds of even that highlight each sorority's offerings. You'll mee current members and can ask about activities, financial commitments, academic support, new member programs, and campus life. Keep an ope mind and think carefully about where you feel mo home in the Greek Community at Clemson.
Mutual Selection Process
Recruitment is a mutual selection process where Potential New Members (PNMs) and sororities ma choices. All PNMs will start with viewing videos fr every sorority during the Open House round. The n three rounds Philanthropy, Sisterhood, and Preference are by invitation only. You'll rank the chapters you want to revisit, and sororities will in their preferred PNMs.
Understand that you may not get invitations to al events you wish to attend. The Panhellenic Execut Board and Pi Chis will explain the process in deta during Convocation and throughout the week.

DESIGNER BAGS?
CPA will be gifting you a clear bag to use for Recruitment, as all Recruitment attendees must follow Littlejohn Coliseum’s clear bag policy. You won't be able to bring anything into your parties, so leave your nice purse or bag in your room Your bag will be left with your Pi Chi in the seats of Littlejohn
PANHEL POSITIVE
Be mindful of what you say about other sororities around others Always respect others' opinions; you never know someone's connections or how they feel about a particular chapter.
HIGH STRESS (and high humidity?)
It's August in South Carolina, and it will be extremely hot. Consider wearing lightweight dresses and colors that won't show sweat. Comfort during Recruitment is key to reducing stress.
ALL THE ESSENTIALS
Bobby pins, hairbrush, portable phone chargers, band-aids, umbrella, oil blotting sheets, snacks, water bottle, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, makeup, pen, flip flops, mints, perfume, and a tote bag.

Chapter Dues:
An important consideration in deciding to join a sorority should be if you are able to meet the financial requirements of membership.
Membership is most expensive the first semester you join due to many onetime fees. All Panhellenic sororities should be willing to work with each member individually through payment plans to meet the financial obligations of membership. During Round 3 of Primary Recruitment, you will receive a financial card from each chapter you visit. These financial cards will provide a breakdown of the cost of dues for each chapter and where the money goes.
Fraternity & Sorority Life Fee:
Another financial obligation to joining a Fraternity or Sorority at Clemson is the Fraternity and Sorority Life fee. This fee of $60 each semester covers staffing and programming for the fraternity and sorority community. This fee is placed on the tuition bills of members.
Academic Requirements
Although Panhellenic does not set a GPA requirement to participate in recruitment, each chapter sets a minimum GPA requirement for membership. It is important to recognize that your GPA may limit you in the recruitment process. Most chapters have approximately a 3.0 GPA requirement to be offered a bid during recruitment.
To help students understand how their GPA may affect their primary recruitment process, Panhellenic created Grade Zones to show how academies factor into a PNMs recruitment experience:

PI CHI
A recruitment counselor, better known as a Pi Chi, is a member of the Panhellenic community who has chosen to disassociate from her own chapter to help unbiasedly lead a group of PNMs through the primary recruitment.
What you need to know about your Pi Chi:
Your Pi Chi is SO excited to meet you! She has been training for this position for 8 months and could not be more excited to guide you through the Recruitment process.
Your Pi Chi is a resource for you at all times! Whether you have questions about what to wear during rounds, how to get to a class, or if you are struggling to adiust to life away from home, your Pi Chi will be there for you before, during and after recruitment.
You will also have a Summer Recruitment Counselor that will reach out a few weeks after you complete registration. She will be a resource for you before the formal recruitment period begins
Your Pi Chi has disassociated from her chapter to be an unbiased resource for you. Please do not try to reveal her affiliation before Bid Day.

Clemson Panhellenic Association Code of Ethics
We, the members of sororities at Clemson University, agree to promote honesty, respect, sisterhood, and cooperation within the College Panhellenic and our respective chapters in our daily lives. This code of ethics is designed to inspire our members, reinforce exemplary conduct and values-based leadership and perpetuate lifelong membership to enrich the sorority and Panhellenic experience.
We, as College Panhellenic members of Clemson University, agree on and commit to: Uphold and demonstrate the Panhellenic spirit in thought, word, and action through our chapters as well as individual members.
Demonstrate ethical behavior and conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the College Panhellenic, each inter/national organization and the institution.
Respectfully adhere to the Unanimous Agreements and all policies established by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC).
Avoid disparaging remarks about any sorority or collegiate woman.
Provide an equitable and inclusive sorority experience for all women who are interested at the institution.
Recognize friendly relations with all collegiate women, both sorority members and nonmembers, realizing the importance of creating and building friendships.
Plan recruitment events that provide opportunities for the greatest possible number of women to become sorority members while protecting the rights and privileges of individuals and chapters.
Be respectful of the rights of every potential new member to make a personal choice, including but not limited to: not joining the sorority community at a specific time, intentional single preference or preference of all sorority chapters.
Respectfully adhere to the bylaws and recruitment rules of the College Panhellenic Association.
Hold one another accountable to this code of ethics, remembering at all times that we represent not only our individual chapters but also the Panhellenic community as a whole.
Potential New Member Bill of Rights
1. The right to be treated as an individual.
2. The right to be fully informed about the recruitment process.
3. The right to ask questions and receive true and objective answers from recruitment counselors and members.
4. The right to be treated with respect.
5. The right to be treated as a capable and mature person without being patronized
6. The right to ask how and why and receive straight answers
7. The right to have and express opinions to recruitment counselors
8. The right to have inviolable confidentiality when sharing information with recruitment counselors.
9. The right to make informed choices without undue pressure from others.
10. The right to be fully informed about the NPC Unanimous Agreements implicit in the membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement (MRABA) signing process
11. The right to make one's own choice and decision and accept full responsibility for the results of that decision
12. The right to have a positive, safe and enriching recruitment and new member experience.
Rules & Policies
The recruitment rules of the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University are intended to help guide affiliated, sorority women and Potential New Members (PNMs) through the membership selection process. Active members, new members, potential new members, recruitment counselors, advisors, and alumnae shall be bound by all College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University Recruitment Rules, National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Unanimous Agreements and Policies, PNM Bill of Rights, College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University Code of Ethics, and the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University Bylaws. It is the responsibility of each member organization/chapter to educate all current members and alumni on these policies. It is the responsibility of the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University to publish these policies so that PNMs are able to educate themselves. All violations of these policies will result in a report, which may lead to the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University Judicial Process.
Potential new members found in violation of these rules and procedures will be subject to dismissal from the recruitment process.
Primary Recruitment will be held during the fall semester, and primary recruitment events will be held only at times specified by the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University recruitment calendar. For the responsibilities of the Panhellenic Executive Board and Recruitment Counselors, please reference the College Panhellenic Association at Clemson University Bylaws, which can be found on the Clemson Panhellenic website.

PNMs will gather in LittleJohn Coliseum to listen to CPA Introduce themselves and the need-to-knows for Recruitment. They will then have the privilege to hear from a special guest speaker!
Following the presentations, PNMs will get introduced to their Pi Chis and head over to Tiger Park with their Pi Chi group.
There, they will expeience a PNM barbeque where they can get to know the other girls in their Pi Chi group and ask any questions they might have!
Round One: Open House
Round 1 of recruitment will be conducted virtually utilizing PNM and chapter videos. The PNM video will serve as your introduction to chapters as well as to Clemson's Panhellenic Community. Have fun and be yourself!
PNMs will watch all thirteen chapter videos with their Pi Chi at the end of the night on PNM Convocation and make their selections. Chapters will view PNM videos and vote on their end as well.
These videos will allow both the chapters and PNMs to learn more about one another and very similar information that would be shared during an in-person round one.
PNM Videos will be submitted with their registration and uploaded using an unlisted YouTube link

Additional Guidelines
Record your video with your phone, laptop, or similar device. Do not record the video with professional equipment. Do not edit your video.
Wear something casual and comfortable that makes you feel confident and presentable.
Record your video with a plain background free from distractions. There should not be anyone but yourself in the video.

Round Two: Philanthropy
Round 2 is the first round of invitation only parties. During this round, you will have the opportunity to visit a maximum of 9 sororities. Each party during Round 2 is 30 minutes long. The purpose of Round 2 is to provide an opportunity for you to learn how important philanthropy and service are to each sorority you visit. Each sorority will give a presentation to highlight their philanthropic partners and efforts at both the local and national levels.
For Round 2, attire will be casual but polished. Each PNM will wear the designated PNM shirt for Round 2. We suggest wearing comfortable shorts or skirts with the PNM shirt. This is an opportunity to express yourself and your style.
Round Three: Sisterhood
Round 3 showcases the unique spirit and values of each sorority. You may visit a maximum of 6 sororities. Each party lasts 35 minutes. The parties during Round 3 are informative and allow more time for you to have deeper conversations with the sorority members. Participation in this round will provide you the opportity to learn about membership expectations as well as experiencins the special bond of sisterhood.
For Round 3, we suggest presenting yourself in dressy-casual. Think casual dresses, rompers, jumpsuits.
RoundFour: Preference
Round 4 events are the last events that you will attend before bid day.
On this day you can visit a maximum of 2 sororities. Each party will last 45 minutes. This round should serve as your opportunity to have your most meaningful conversations with chapter members. During this time, a chapter member may share with you how she made her decision, what her sorority means to her, and overall why she values that sisterhood.
After you attend your last party, you will complete your MRABA.
For Round 4, we suggest wearing a nice dress with wedges or heels.

8 If through the primary membership recruitment process, a potential new member accepts a bid and then has her pledge broken by an NPC sorority or breaks her pledge, then she is ineligible to be pledged to another NPC sorority on the same campus until the beginning of the next year's primary membership recruitment period

Explanation of the MRABA
The Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA), previously known as the "Preference Card," is a crucial document in Clemson University's sorority recruitment process. This Is the document that a PNM will sign at the conclusion of her final round in Recruitment.
Here's what you need to know:
Commitments: By signing the MRABA, PNMs commit to accepting a bid from any sorority they rank. This commitment lasts for one calendar year, from August to August.
Consequences: Once a PNM receives a bid from a listed sorority, she is bound to that sorority for the specified period. Declining a bid from a listed sorority renders PNMs ineligible for Continuous Open Bidding (COB) during specific periods.
Selection Process: PNMs rank sororities visited during the final round, with assistance from her Pi Chi. The paper MRABA and computer selections must match and cannot be altered once submitted.
Options: Before signing, PNMs have options:
Withdraw from recruitment and remain eligible for COB.
List sororities they are willing to accept bids from, ensuring no preferences are ranked that they are unwilling to accept.
PNMs may also opt for a single preference, though single preferences do not guarantee bids.
Continuous Open Bidding (COB): PNMs not receiving bids from listed sororities remain eligible for COB, though participation from sororities may be limited.
The MRABA ensures clarity and commitment throughout the recruitment process, emphasizing thoughtful decision-making and maximizing options for PNMs.

Hey PC 25! I am a senior Tri Delta from Greenville, SC! Looking back on my 3 years in Tri Delta is something that I can proudly say has shaped me into the person that I am today. Now, we all know that it is not where you are but who you surround yourself with - the women in this chapter have inspired me to strive to be encouraging, loyal, silly, loving, adventurous, and kind to everyone. From living on the 5th floor in manning, to living on the sorority quad, to living off campus with 30 of my best friends, there have been more friendships and memories than I can count. While in Tri Delta, I had the opportunity to serve as the PC 23 new member ‘mom’ which gave me the chance to create meaningful relationships with girls that were 2 years younger than me. Whether it was going on coffee dates, having a scavenger hunt around campus, or getting excited as I walked past them on the way to class, I loved having a friendship with each and every one of them. That is something that is truly unique about Tri Delta - being able to call 300 girls (whether a freshman or senior) your friends and sisters. It's having girls that genuinely care about each other and want to see each other succeed in and out of college. Now, my time at Clemson and in Greek life is about to end, but I know that a part of my story will always lie within Tri Delta and my friendships there.

Coming to Clemson from a small town in Southwest Virginia, the idea of joining a sorority was a foreign concept to me and I was not yet ready to dive into Greek Life I had a great freshman year experience, but I knew something was missing. I decided to officially register for primary recruitment for Fall 2023. Recruitment is an emotional rollercoaster for everyone, but I knew going through the process as a sophomore would present me with more challenges than most I found myself fighting to find the right fit, and at times I didn’t think there was a place for me in a sorority at all. The only place that I felt truly at home was with Delta Gamma. The DG’s that I had met during my freshman year are some of the most bubbly and genuine girls I’ve met to this day. Two of my roommates were already members in DG, so I thought I knew everything there was to know Going through primary recruitment showed me just how wrong I was. Every party I had with DG, I was greeted by the most welcoming, smiling faces. Everyone I had previously met had gone out of their way to give me a hug which made it clear how excited these girls were to have me there About halfway through recruitment I was still unsure if DG was the right fit, but Preference Round changed everything Listening to my roommate Bella’s “Why DG” story helped me find my own reason for wanting to wear the Golden Anchor. I felt that Delta Gamma was the one place I could truly be myself and grow into the person I strived to be. I knew that I would be surrounded by sisters who would support me in my college endeavors and remain my best friends for my entire life. I saw myself guiding others through recruitment and taking on a leadership position of my own someday.
