Infant, toddler & preschool classrooms utilize highquality, comprehensive resources which empower educators to intentionally teach & care for our youngest learners during their most critical and formative years of development.

HEAD START serves children 3 years of age until kindergarten eligible EARLY HEAD START serves pregnant women, infants & toddlers.

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at no cost to families with income below Federal Poverty Level.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Programs serve at least 10% of children with disabilities.

Investment in Children: - Activities for mental, social & emotional nurturing - Developmental, health & dental screenings - Tri-annual progress & nutritional assessments

Providing Parents Access to social services, job training, food & nutrition counseling, English language education & health services

CHILD DEVELOPMENT State funded program Serves preschoolers, 3 years of age until kindergarten eligible Parents/caregivers must be Connecticut residents making no more than 75% of State Median Income.

Family fees determined by the sliding scale established by the CT Office of Early Childhood.

Parents/caregivers must be working or attending school to be eligible.

SCHOOL READINESS State program that serves Stamford families with children 3 years of age until kindergarten eligible

In clusters established by Stamford primary-school districts to interact with the cluster's associated elementary school.

Utilizes Instructional Coordinators. These master teachers from Stamford Public Schools are on site at CLC to support curriculum, professional development and kindergarten transitions.

Collaboration with Stamford Board of Education & the City of Stamford.

BLENDED PRE-K (BPK) Combines educational materials and opportunities for interaction at home and online with traditional play-based classroom methods.

CLC has taken a coordinated, integrated approach that leverages the best practices of each program to: - Partner with parents to engage in daily learning at home.

- Provide parents with training & tools needed.

- Utilize a common approach to content & curriculum.

BPK enables CLC to engage with families meaningfully at a time when parents are not allowed in our centers for health and safety reasons.

BPK also provides needed flexibility when classrooms have to quarantine due to a COVID-19 diagnosis.

FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE (FACE) FACE empowers CLC families in their pivotal roles as the primary teacher for their young children. Supported and led by a professional governing body, the committee is dedicated to achieving bold goals and objectives to increase parent engagement across our programs.

Global pandemic challenges have allowed FACE to adapt its mission to consider new protocols and priorities, including remote personal interaction and emotional and mental health support services to families.

In cooperation with the teaching staff and families across our programs, FACE has enhanced its combined effect efforts through Blended Pre-K.

HEALTH & FAMILY SERVICES All children are provided two meals and a snack at no additional cost to families. Making CLC one of Fairfield County's largest food providers.

On-site nurses manage COVID-19 protocols, monitor health and vaccination requirements and support children if illness or injury occurs during the school day.

The Family Service Team provides wrap around support by connecting children in need of developmental or behavioral assistance to additional services and supporting parents in advocating for their child.

Family Service workers connect families to community resources including food and emergency assistance, English Language Learner classes and others as needed.

KEY PARTNERSHIPS STAMFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS (SPS) We have had Instructional Coordinators in place for more than 20 years and continue to build connections around Blended Pre-K. Through our sharing agreement, we track longitudinal results.

35% to 40% of children entering SPS come from CLC.

COLUMBIA MEDICAL SCHOOL NURTURE SCIENCE PROGRAM (NSP) NSP AND CLC completed a pilot program for a family intervention that engaged CLC mothers in the critical task of co-regulating their preschool aged children’s emotions so that they could better deal with the stresses caused by their environment.

Results showed significant improvements in child behavior at home and in school, as well as decreased depression levels in mothers.

YALE CENTER FOR EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Yale researchers, CLC teachers, administrators and families created the first early childhood version of the RULER program, an innovative approach to social and emotional development.

NEIGHBORHOOD BUILDERS AWARD RECIPIENT As an awardee organization, CLC received a $200,000 grant, a year of leadership training for the executive director & an emerging leader, a network of peer organizations across the U.S. & the opportunity to access capital to expand impact.

PROJECT 26

In 2020, during 8 weeks early in the COVID-19 pandemic, our homegrown heroes provided reliable & safe childcare to children of healthcare & frontline workers as part of Project 26.

During this period, none of children or staff members who participated in the program contracted the virus.

We were recognized for our resilience & commitment to the Stamford community when Moffly Media presented CLC with the "Best Friend to Children" award at the annual Light a Fire Awards Ceremony.

MARC JAFFE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Marc Jaffe came to the nonprofit sector after serving for more than 25 years as a senior publishing, licensing and technology executive.

He was the President of several divisions of Simon & Schuster & Rodale. Jaffe found success publishing numerous popular literary works including: "The South Beach Diet", Pete Rose’s "My Prison Without Bars" & "The Big O," The Autobiography of Oscar Robertson.

Since 1991, Jaffe has been instrumental in his involvement with Harlem RBI, serving as a Board of Directors member, Board President and Chairman of its advisory board, the Homerun Leadership Council.

Marc Jaffe has also participated as a member of the UJA Executive Publishing committee for nearly two decades.

As CEO of CLC, Jaffe has used his prowess to lead the almost 120-year-old organization and community staple. With his leadership, CLC has rebranded and recommitted its vision of early childhood education (ECE) for future generations and has earned CLC the recognition of being the second-largest center-based ECE program in Connecticut.

Marc resides in Old Greenwich with his wife, May. Their son, Aaron attends Columbia University, Jaffe's alma mater.

He holds a JD from Columbia Law School.
