COMO FALAR COM ÁRVORES Humanos, não humanos, eu e você, estamos conectados para sempre através dos ventos, das águas e de outras pequenas partículas e microrganismos que operam silenciosamente na paisagem e moldam o mundo. As árvores, majestosamente, regem essa afinada orquestra de entidades vivas e não vivas. São elas as grandes protagonistas da relação entre a biosfera e a atmosfera, estando fundamentalmente ligadas à existência de toda a vida no planeta.

Conceber a natureza e o nosso lugar no seu interior como parte constituinte do todo é uma questão eminentemente social e existencial. A crise ambiental e a frequência com que vivenciamos as catástrofes naturais exigem uma outra lógica de conceber, atuar e projetar o mundo. Um projeto de construção social baseado no que Bruno Latour chama de “multiplicação dos híbridos”, com a projeção de uma política ecológica igualitária entre humanos e não humanos.

Coexistir, interagir e trocar energia com os seres e com os fenômenos da natureza foram os pontos de partida para o desenvolvimento dos trabalhos artísticos aqui apresentados. É a presença do corpo do artista, afetado pela temporalidade e espacialidade da Floresta Amazônica, que é transcrita em um conjunto de processos, matérias e técnicas poéticas, derivadas da participação no programa de imersão artística LABVERDE. Compreender a linguagem dos organismos, contar suas histórias, é usar a alma para capturar os sinais imperceptíveis aos sentidos. A natureza passa, então, a ser interpretada sob a ótica dos seres em um exercício de imaginação empática. Aqui, neste pequeno cosmos da galeria, pessoas são árvores e árvores são peixes, peixes são aves e aves são folhas, folhas são matérias e a ausência delas, tudo faz parte do todo, tudo se dobra em si mesmo em uma teia infinita de encontros.

Da vontade transgressora de descolonizar a natureza nasce um fio invisível que conecta um grupo de artistas de diferentes partes do mundo. Artistas conscientes de que as árvores sobrevivem muito além de nós, que são testemunhas ocultas das transformações antropogênicas no planeta e que, possivelmente, estarão aqui quando nós já não estivermos.

Enquanto ainda há tempo, vamos ouvir, falar e coexistir com as árvores.

HOW TO TALK TO THE TREES Humans, non-humans, you and me, are forever connected through the winds, water and other small particles and microorganisms that silently operate in the landscape and shape the planet. The trees, majestically, govern this fine orchestra of living and non-living entities.

They are the main protagonists of the relationship between the biosphere and the atmosphere, being fundamentally linked to the existence of all life on earth.

To understand our place within nature as part of the whole is an eminently social and existential matter. The environmental crisis and the frequency of natural disasters require a different logic of conceiving, acting and projecting the world. We need a project of social construction based on what Bruno Latour calls the “multiplication of hybrids”, with the projection of an equal environmental policy between humans and non-humans forms of lives.

Coexisting, interacting and exchanging energy with other organisms and natural phenomena was the basis for the development of the artistic works presented in How to Talk with the Trees. The plurality of processes, materials and techniques were a result of the artists’ bodies being affected by the time and space of the Amazon forest, poetic outcomes of LABVERDE art immersion program.

We access our souls in order to capture imperceptible signals to begin to understand the language of organisms and tell their histories. Nature then becomes interpreted from the point of view of non-humans beings in an exercise of empathic imagination. In the small cosmos of a group exhibition, people are trees and trees are fish, fish are birds and birds are leaves, leaves are matter and the absence of them, everything is part of the whole, everything doubles in itself in an infinite web of encounters.

From the transgressive will to decolonize nature is born an invisible thread that connects a group of artists from different parts of the world. Artists who are aware that trees survive far beyond us, are hidden witnesses to the anthropogenic transformation of the planet and who, possibly, will be here when we are no longer. LABVERDE foi criado para explorar os limites da arte com a promoção de experiências autênticas e confronto entre disciplinas, envolvendo arte, ciência e natureza. O objetivo principal do programa é a criação de conteúdos culturais sobre o meio ambiente, gerados pelo conhecimento teórico e pela experiência prática na Floresta Amazônica.

LABVERDE was created to strengthen the limits of art through a broad array of experiences, knowledge sets and cultural perspectives involving art, science and nature. The program’s main goal is to promote artistic creation through a constructive debate about environmental issues generated by both theory and life experiences in the Amazon rainforest.

BIA MONTEIRO Os europeus foram os primeiros não-indígenas a explorar a Floresta Amazônica: eles vieram, estudaram e abusaram dos nativos com o seu olhar objetificador. A floresta quase sempre foi retratada por esses colonizadores como exótica, mágica e sobrenatural. Essa representação simbólica dominou a imaginação de estrangeiros e locais, eu mesma incluída.

No tempo em que estive na Reserva Natural Adolpho Duck (Manaus – AM) para uma residência artística, comecei a trabalhar na série Re-medindo a Terra Firme; uma investigação e recomposição das alusões iniciais e das próprias referências que foram inseridas pelos exploradores europeus – aquelas que foram absorvidas como realidade genuína. ...aqui estou. Duzentos anos após o botânico alemão Von Martius desenhar as profundezas e complexidade desta floresta.

Como faço para decodificar essas imagens e conceitos oriundos duma experiência estrangeira e imersas em mim? Eu me coloco na paisagem – um lugar subjugado durante séculos – e uso meu corpo para experienciar dimensões reais, para compreender a impressão do seu tamanho e de tal forma re-acessar a memória, minha própria experiência. Cada árvore, eu seguro. Cada árvore, eu meço com as minhas mãos. Uma repetição que facilita minha própria conexão corpórea com a paisagem e revela a floresta tão frágil quanto o meu ser.

The Europeans were the first non-indigenous people to explore the Amazon forest: they came, studied and abused the natives with their objectifying gaze. The forest was often portrayed as exotic, magical and other worldly by these colonizers.This symbolic depiction eventually dominated the imagination of foreign and local people, myself included.

While at the Adolpho Duck Reserve, I began work onRe-medindo aTerra Firme (re- measuring the Dry Land), an investigation and reworking of the initial allusions and actual references that were employed by the Europeans explorers – those that have been absorbed as a genuine reality. ...Here I am. Two hundred years after Von Martius drew the depth and complexity of this forest. How do I decode the images and concepts embedded within me by an alien experience? I insert myself in this landscape–a place that has been object of subjugation for centuries –and use my body to experience real dimensions, to understand the impression of its size and to reassess memory through this, my own experience. Each tree, I hold.Each tree, I measure with my hands.Are petition that facilitates my own corporal connection to the landscape and reveals a forest as fragile as my being.

Bia Monteiro é uma artista visual brasileira que vive entre o Rio e Nova York. Ela recebeu um diploma do MFA do Centro Internacional de Fotografia em 2016, onde foi premiada com a Director’s Fellowship. Bia trabalha principalmente com fotografia, vídeo e instalações. Seu trabalho faz referência a assuntos relacionados à colonização, bem como preocupações ambientais através do uso do corpo humano, referências históricas e arquitetura. Bia expôs seu trabalho no Brasil, Europa, Japão, China e Estados Unidos, e faz parte do coletivo Studio Duo em Nova York.

Bia Monteiro is a Brazilian visual artist living between Rio and New York City. She received a MFA degree from the International Center of Photography in 2016 where she was awarded with the Director’s Fellowship. Bia is a visual artist working primarily with photography, video and installations. Her work references matters related to colonisation, as well as environmental concerns through the use of human body, historical references and architecture. Bia has exhibited her work in Brazil, Europe, Japan, China and United States, and is part of the Studio Duo collective in NYC.

Um poema a essa trança imaginária que liga todos os seres vivos.

Esta escultura viva usa tranças, um antigo ato feminino de tecer, para simbolizar a afinidade dos seres humanos com o mundo natural. É um exercício de visualização da Biofilia, a ligação humana com outras espécies.

O título Tsaheylu, é um trocadilho sobre a cultura contemporânea como vem do filme Avatar. É uma palavra Na'vi (o povo azul) para a ligação entre duas criaturas. É o ponto da conexão Pandora no filme quando o homem se conecta ao cavalo marinho através de sua longa trança.

An ode to the sacred bond.

A poem to that imaginary braid that connects all living beings.

This living sculpture uses braiding, an ancient female act of weaving, to symbolise the affinity of human beings with the natural world.

It is an exercise in visualising Biophilia, the human bond with other species.

The title Tsaheylu, is a pun on contemporary culture as it is comes from the movie Avatar. It is a Na'vi (the blue people) word for the bond between two creatures. It is the point of the Pandora connection in the movie when the man connects to the direhorse via their long braid.

Bianca Lee Vasquez usa a performance ritualística como um gesto para lutar pela comunhão entre corpo, consciência e natureza. Uma abordagem multidisciplinar que cruza performance, fotografia, vídeo, escultura e instalação performativa para revelar interações contemplativas em busca do essencial, espiritual e sagrado no mundo natural. Ela procura usar teias entre a relevância dessas experiências recuperadas e a sociedade moderna. Vasquez tenta reconstruir a rica e variada relação que seus ancestrais inca tinham com o cosmos, na tenaz promoção da harmonia entre os humanos e o meio ambiente.

Bianca Lee Vasquez uses ritualistic performance as a gesture to strive for communion between body, consciousness and nature. A multidisciplinary approach that cuts across performance, photography, video, sculpture and performative installation to reveal contemplative interactions in search of the essential, spiritual and sacred in the natural world. She seeks to wear webs between the relevance of these recovered experiences and modern society. Vasquez attempts to reconstruct the rich and varied relationship her Inca ancestors had with the cosmos, in the tenacious promotion of harmony between humans and the environment.

C L A U D I A TA V A R E S “Notas de um silêncio grave” é o início de uma reflexão sobre a gravidade do assunto da crise ambiental, que se intensificou durante a residência. São imagens fotográficas de árvores e desenhos em carvão, pensando que o carvão pode vir a ser a próxima materialidade da madeira dessas árvores, que a potência da floresta amazônica está sendo ameaçada por questões de interesse econômicos e políticos e que o Brasil está, mais do que nunca, adotando uma rota muito perigosa, que pode não ter mais volta adiante. Estamos no Antropoceno e temos que nos dar conta disso para que a humanidade possa continuar a existir nesse planeta.

"Notes of a serious silence" is the beginning of a reflection on the seriousness of the subject of the environmental crisis, which was intensified during the period of the Labverde residence. They are photographic images of trees and charcoal drawings, thinking that charcoal may be the next materiality of the wood of these trees, that the power of the Amazon rainforest is being threatened by issues of economic and political interest and that Brazil is more than than ever, adopting a very dangerous route, which may have no further back. We are in the Anthropocene and we have to realize this so that humanity can continue to exist on this planet.

Claudia Tavares é Doutora em Processos Artísticos Contemporâneos pelo Instituto de Artes UERJ, Mestra em Artes pela Goldsmiths College, Londres e em Linguagens Visuais pela Escola de Belas Artes, UFRJ. Como artista visual, utiliza as linguagens da fotografia e do vídeo em convívio com objetos, desenhos e cadernos de artista. MOVING AND STILL˝ IMPRESSÃO MINERAL EM PAPEL HAHNEMÜHLE PHOTO RAG 2018

GUTO NÓBREGA Vegetal Reality Shelter é um sistema imersivo, criado com base em sons e imagens da natureza e na interação com plantas.

Este trabalho é fruto de uma vivência na Floresta Amazônica organizada pelo LABVERDE, ocorrida durante os 10 dias do programa de residência artística na Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke. Este trabalho foi construído sob a forma de um pequeno abrigo com base na geometria de guarda-chuvas. Contém um pequeno sistema hidropônico com plantas, 6 canais de áudio e um projetor de vídeo. No interior do abrigo as plantas são monitoradas quanto a resposta galvânica de suas folhas, que se altera segundo a respiração do visitante que entra no espaço e interage com o sistema. Os dados monitorados nas plantas são utilizados para modificar a paisagem sonora e imagens espelhadas da floresta.

Vegetable Reality Shelter is an immersive system based on sounds and images of nature and in interaction with plants. This work is the result of an experience in the Amazon Forest organized by LABVERDE, which took place during the 10 days of the artistic residency program at the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve. This work was built in the form of a small shelter based on the geometry of umbrellas. It contains a small hydroponic system with plants, 6 channels of audio and a video projector. Inside the shed plants are monitored as to the galvanic response of their leaves, which changes according to the breath of the visitor entering into space and interacting with the system. The data monitored in the plants is used to modify the sound landscape and mirror images of the forest.

Guto Nóbrega é Pós-Doutor pela UnB, linha Arte e Tecnologia do PPGAV/UnB (2019), é Doutor (2009) em Interactive Arts pelo programa de Pósgraduação Planetary Collegium (antigo CAiiA-STAR), University of Plymouth UK, onde desenvolveu pesquisa sob orientação do Prof. Roy Ascott. É artista, pesquisador, Mestre em Comunicação, Tecnologia e Estética pela ECO-UFRJ (2003) e Bacharel em gravura pela EBA-UFRJ (1998) onde leciona desde 1995. Fundou e atua como um dos coordenadores do NANO - Núcleo de Arte e Novos Organismos, espaço de pesquisa para investigação e criação artística. Foi coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais / EBA/UFRJ (2015-2017) e atualmente atua como Bolsista de Produtividade em Pesquisa do CNPq - nível 2.

Guto Nóbrega is a postdoc in Art and Technology from PPGAV / UnB (2019) and PhD (2009) in Interactive Arts from the postgraduate program Planetary Collegium (former CAiiA-STAR), University of Plymouth UK, where he developed research under the supervision of Prof. Roy Ascott. He is an artist, researcher, Master in Communication, Technology and Aesthetics from ECO-UFRJ (2003) and Bachelor in engraving at EBA-UFRJ (1998) where he teaches since 1995. He founded and acts as one of the coordinators of NANO - Núcleo de Arte e Novos Organismos, a research academic lab for investigation and artistic creation. He was the coordinator of the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Artes Visuais / EBA / UFRJ (2015-2017) and currently works as Research Productivity Scholar at CNPq - level 2.

Liana Nigri é uma artista Brasileira profundamente interessada em BioArt. Sua pesquisa chama a atenção para a presença do corpo em relação com a natureza, uma observação íntima de marcas que evidenciam traços de tempo, contatos ou traumas. A obra 'Gestos de Contato' faz referência à Terra Preta de Índio, vestígio de solo fértil encontrado na Amazônia decorrente da relação harmônica entre civilização e o meio ambiente. Cada peça é um gesto de reconhecimento de formas e texturas da natureza, esculturas-conchas onde não existe sujeito ou objeto.

Liana Nigri is a Brazilian artist deeply interested in BioArt; her research brings attention to the presence of the body in relation to nature, an intimate observation of marks that evidence traces of time, contacts or traumas. The work 'Gestos de Contato' refers to the Dark Earth, a vestige of fertile soil found throughout the Amazon resulting from the harmonious relationship between civilisation and the environment. Each piece is a gesture of acknowledgement of nature's forms and textures, shell-sculptures where there is no subject or object.

Laura Gorski (São Paulo, SP, 1982) é artista visual. Sua pesquisa envolve a investigação de paisagens por meio do deslocamento, a criação de lugares contemplação e silêncio através do desenho e sua relação com o corpo e o espaço. Formou-se em Design de produto pelo Centro Universitário Belas Artes de São Paulo e atualmente faz o curso de pós-graduação Caminhada como método para a Arte e Educação na Casa Tombada, em São Paulo - SP. Participou de diversas exposições nacionais e internacionais e das residências artísticas Terra UNA na Serra da Mantiqueira (2018), LABVERDE na Floresta Amazônica (2017), ZKU em Berlim (2013), cidade na qual viveu durante um ano e Fundação Bienal de Cerveira (2012), em Portugal, onde integrou a 17a Bienal de Cerveira. www.lauragorski.com Laura Gorski (São Paulo, SP, 1982) is a visual artist. AGORA TUDO PODE BROTAR ˝ TERRA, NANQUIM DOURADO E FOLHAS SOBRE PAPEL 2019

LISA SCHONBERG Em agosto de 2017, iniciei um projeto colaborativo de pesquisa multimídia sobre acústica de formigas na Amazônia brasileira.

A UAU apresenta 5 composições baseadas em minhas gravações de formigas, paisagens sonoras de seus habitats e observações de seus movimentos e formas. As formigas estão fazendo muito do trabalho vital que mantém as funções do ecossistema da floresta tropical: herbivoria, dispersão de sementes, predação, decomposição - e a Amazônia é, por sua vez, crucial para a regulação do clima global e a persistência de tantas outras espécies. Ouvir as formigas nos ajuda a gerar empatia pelos insetos, afetar nossa relação com os invertebrados? Uma mudança em nossa perspectiva pode afetar uma mudança em nossos sistemas de crença e nos encorajar a mudar para o biocentrismo? Ouvir nos encoraja a fazer nossa parte no combate às mudanças climáticas? Os entomologistas Fabricio Baccaro e Erica Valle, da Universidade Federal do Amazonas, estão produzindo e analisando espectrogramas de nossas gravações de formigas para examinar as diferenças de acústica entre as espécies. UAU features 5 compositions based on my ant recordings, soundscapes of their habitats, and observations of their movement and form. Ants are doing much of the vital work of tropical rainforest ecosystem functions: herbivory, seed dispersal, predation, decomposition - and the Amazon is, in turn, crucial for global climate regulation and the persistence of so many others species. Can listening to ants help us generate empathy for insects and affect our relationship with invertebrates? Can a change in our perspective affect a change in our belief systems and encourage us to move to biocentrism? Can listening encourage us to do our part in combating climate change? Entomologists Fabricio Baccaro and Erica Valle of the Federal University of Amazonas are producing and analyzing spectrograms of our ant recordings to examine the differences in acoustics between species. Lisa Schonberg nasceu em 1977 em Staten Island, Nova York. É compositora, percussionista, gravadora de campo, escritora, naturalista, artista ambiental e professora. Ela obteve seu mestrado em Estudos Ambientais com foco em biodiversidade de formigas nos Neotrópicos. Ela integra seus interesses através da documentação criativa de paisagens sonoras, insetos e habitat, com o objetivo de chamar a atenção para os tópicos ambientais e ecológicos. As composições baseadas em locais de Lisa são executadas por seus conjuntos de percussão UAU e Secret Drum Band.

Lisa Schonberg was born in 1977 in Staten Island, New York. She is a composer, percussionist, field recordist, writer, environmental artist and teacher. She earned her Masters in Environmental Studies with a focus on ant biodiversity in the Neotropics. She integrates her interests through creative documentation of soundscapes, insects and habitats, with the goal of drawing attention to environmental and ecological topics. Lisa's percussion compositions are performed by her percussion ensembles UAU and Secret Drum Band, and her sound works have been featured in exhibits and film scores in the U.S., Canada, Italy, and Brazil.

Lorenzo Moya é um artista visual chileno que desenvolve seu trabalho completamente ligado à natureza, seu trabalho não se limita apenas à observação, mas se materializa em grande parte na própria natureza, sua busca o leva a percorrer diferentes geografias onde ele tenta conviver com a paisagem e se nutrir disso. Seus caminhos o levam até a Patagônia, onde ele encontra os campos frios do sul, ou o deserto ao norte do Chile. Depois dessas viagens, ele transforma as obras em seu ateliê, onde aparecem personagens que são como os habitantes dessas solidão.

Seus estudos são desenvolvidos no Chile, onde se formou em Artes na Universidade do Chile. Fez inúmeras exposições no Chile, Brasil (São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro), Colômbia (Bogotá), Peru (Lima), Argentina (Buenos Aires), além de exposições nos EUA e na Europa.

Ha realizado numerosas exposiciones en Chile, Brasil ( Sao Paulo e Rio de Janeiro), Colombia ( Bogotá) , Perú (Lima) , Argentina (Buenos Aires) , así como exposiciones en USA y Europa.

Luisa Puterman é compositora, produtora musical e sound designer. Suas pesquisas e projetos exploram histórias, possibilidades, problemas e outros aspectos sobre composição e percepção sonora. Após estudar piano e outros instrumentos graduou-se em História da arte pela PUC-SP para depois se especializar em engenharia de áudio no IAV. Nos últimos anos participou de festivais, residências e exposições como: FILE - São Paulo; 18th Japan Media Festival - Tokyo, Japão; FIF - Belo horizonte; Red Bull M u s i c Academy - Paris, França; OneBeat - New Orleans/ Chicago, EUA; Novas Frequências - Rio de Janeiro; BANFF center for the arts - Banff , Canada entre outros.

Bruno Garibaldi é artista multimídia. Seus trabalhos transitam entre ações sociais, áudio visuais, arte-educação, literatura e experimentações sonoras e musicais. Graduado em História da Arte pela PUC-SP se especializou em fotografia de cinema pela AIC. Nos últimos anos participou de festivais, residências e exposições como: BAWF web fest - Buenos Aires, Argentina - Roma Cinema Doc - Roma, Italia; Rio Web Fest – Rio de Janeiro; Osso - Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo; Moto Perpétuo – Red Bull Station, São Paulo; Área Criativa - Minas Gerais, entre outros.

Patricia Gouvêa (1973, Rio de Janeiro). Artista visual, trabalha com fotografia, vídeo, instalação e intervenção urbana. Seu trabalho investiga a fotografia e a imagem em movimento e suas interfaces potenciais. É graduada em Comunicação pela ECO/UFRJ, Especialista em Fotografia e Ciências Sociais (UCAM/RJ) e Mestre em Comunicação e Cultura (ECO/UFRJ). Maputo, 1977. Vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Licenciado em Pintura (FBAUL, 2006). A sua pesquisa artística é centrada nos temas da paisagem e natureza, com recurso a expedições de caminhada, sobretudo a zonas selvagens. A pintura e vídeo-instalação são os suportes mais frequentes.

Até 2019 apresentou projectos na Europa, EUA, Brasil e México, em museus como o MAAT, Lisboa, o Kreeger Museum, EUA, ou o Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, São Miguel, Açores. O Jornal Público destacou em 2018 a exposição individual Azimute, na Galeria 111, no Top 10 das exposições portuguesas do ano.

Explora as relações entre textos literários e imagens, valendo-se muitas vezes do envolvimento de diversas pessoas com suas histórias e lugares onde habitam. Em suas instalações propõe a criação de narrativas abertas no espaço, que se constroem enquanto se caminha. Formada em Comunicação Visual, UNESP, Bauru SP; Educação Artística, UNAERP, Ribeirão Preto, SP, com cursos como aluna estrangeira na Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Espanha. Atualmente participa de grupos de estudos como no Ateliê Fidalga em São Paulo.

Renata Padovan nasceu em São Paulo, Brasil, onde vive e trabalha. Renata Padovan is a Brazilian artist living and working in São Paulo, Brazil. Graduated with a BA degree in Social Communications from FAAP São Paulo, later followed by a MA Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, 2001. She has participated in several artist in residency programmes and her work has been exhibited in galleries, institutions, festivals and museums in Brazil and abroad.

Nascido em Manaus (AM) em 1976, graduou-se em Artes Plásticas pela UFPE em 2002. Expondo desde 1999, em 2012 recebeu o Prêmio Pipa/ MAM-RJ, no ano seguinte, o Prêmio MASP Talento Emergente. Em 2012 participou da 30ª Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, em 2013 exibiu o vídeo Tônus no MoMA PS1, Nova York, e em 2016 realizou individual no Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

Born in Manaus (Amazon) in 1976, he got a degree in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE, 2002). Exhibiting since 1999, in 2012 he received the Pipa Prize - Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro and, one year latter, he got the Emerging Talent Prize of São Paulo Art Museum – MASP. In 2012 he joined the 30th São Paulo Bienal, in 2013 he screened the video Tone in MoMA PS1, New York, and, in 2016, he had a solo show at Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

SÉRGIO HELLE

Sérgio Helle vive e trabalha em Fortaleza, Ceará. Desenvolve um trabalho em que mescla as mais novas ferramentas digitais com tradicionais técnicas de desenho e pintura. Com 31 anos de carreira, foi um dos primeiros artistas cearenses a utilizar o computador como ferramenta artística, tendo realizado, ainda em 1995, sua primeira exposição em que participou com infogravuras. Realizou exposições coletivas e individuais em várias cidades do Brasil, Portugal e Itália. Nos últimos quatro anos, ele vem trabalhando com uma série chamada PARADISUS, onde sua principal referência é a natureza.

Sérgio Helle lives and works in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Sérgio develops his work mixing the newest digital tools with traditional drawing and painting techniques. With a 31-year career, he is one first artists from Ceará to utilize computers as an artistic tool, having had, back in 1995, his first exhibit using digital prints. He has held numerous collective and solo exhibitions in several cities in Brazil, Portugal and Italy. For the last four years he has been working with a series called PARADISUS, where his main reference is nature.

Simone Fontana vive e trabalha em São Paulo. Terminou a graduação na Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (Londres) em 2002 e o mestrado em 2014 na mesma instituição. Simone acredita no resgate da história ameríndia e na forma como estas culturas se relacionavam com a natureza, para melhor entendermos nosso país. Há 20 anos, pesquisa florestas e orquídeas.

Simone Fontana lives and works in São Paulo. She graduated from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (London) in 2002 and completed her master's degree in 2014 at the same institution. Simone believes in the rescue of Amerindian history and in the way these cultures related to nature, in order to better understand our country. For 20 years, research forests and orchids.

A PROCURA DA PAISAGEM PERDIDA˝ GOMA DE MANDIOCA, TERRA DE CUPINZEIRO E CARVÃO SOBRE PAPEL 2019

TURENKO BEÇA Durante o programa de imersão do LABVERDE comecei a pensar em como extrair a terra amazônica e transportá-la para outros ambientes. Usando técnicas da conservação e preservação do meu trabalho anterior, fui conduzido pela curiosidade e pela multiplicidade de substâncias e materiais dentro da Reserva Adolpho Ducke para extrair e congelar diferentes materiais em uma placa de resina. Desta forma foi possível levar a floresta para a cidade e para outros lugares. Estas amostras portáteis de terra foram dados a outros artistas e participantes para que pudessem levá-lo com eles de volta a seus países. Depois disso, os deslocamentos são georreferenciados e registrados em fotos e vídeos. A Terra Que Anda está agora em vários lugares onde ninguém espera encontrar o solo amazônico.

During the LABVERDE immersion program I started to think about how to extract the Amazonian ground and transport it to other environments. Using techniques from conservationand preservation from my previous work, I was driven by the curiosity for the multiplicity of substances and materials inside the Adolpho Ducke Reserve to extract and freeze different materials in a resin plate. This way it was is possible to take the forest into the city and to other places. This portable sample of ground-piece of land was given to other artists and participants so they could take it with them back to their countries. After that, the displacements are Geo- referenced and recorded on photos and videos. The Earth That Walks is now on various places where nobody expects to find amazonian ground.

Desde 1992 investiga a Amazônia: sua natureza, biodiversidade e aspectos antropológicos (sociedades indígenas); especialmente os habitantes da Amazônia e sua relação com o rios, a floresta e os símbolos da Amazônia.Trabalhos conceituais com diferentes suportes e materiais, performances e arte urbana derivam disso.

Fourth generation Visual Artist from Amazonas. Since 1992 investigates the Amazon: from natural, biodiversity and anthropological (indigenous societies) aspects; specializing in the Amazonian people and their relationship with the rivers, the forest and Amazonian symbols. Conceptual work with different supports and material, performances and urban art derives from this.
