HOTEL Puerto Sandino – Playa Miramar is home to many diverse uncrowded surf breaks in Central Nicaragua. Our premium property is located beachfront on Playa Miramar nestled in the middle of four unique surf spots. You will find our village a sleepy town with one bar outside of our own Bar Onshore with full Air Conditioning. Our Property only sleeps two guests per room with full baths, queen beds with full WI-FI and AC from each quarter. The Ranchos are lined with day beds, chase loungers around the pool and lifeguard chairs for sun setting at happy hours. If yoga is your thing, we have a full yoga deck on the second floor of the main house with mats provided. Casa La Barra provides the entertainment with a Full Bar, Entertainment System, Pool Table, Ping Pong and several Board Games just steps from the ocean front pool.

FOOD While visiting us at Casa La Barra Surf Resort you’ll receive 3 freshly prepared meals per day. We have a wide range of meal options, but be ready to try Nicaraguan favorites such as local caught fish, fresh veggies, locally farmed meats and Nicaraguan red silk beans. Coffee, fruit, cereal and fresh banana bread is available daily at 5 am. Breakfast follows around 8 am, with other meals scheduled around your daily activities. All fish is sourced by neighboring fisherman, and we always seek out local markets with the freshest produce.

CURRENCY The local currency is Cordoba’s. Most Nicaraguan vendors and stores accepts USD. We suggest bringing small bills for items you may want during town tours. You may exchange USD for the local currency, but we do not recommend doing this at the airport. On your way to the hotel we can stop by an ATM to withdraw currency. We accept all major credit cards for booking, and Visa, MasterCard and American Express at Casa La Barra. Don’t forget to tip! We encourage tipping your surf guide and our staff. The tips received from guests go to local staff and their families, and it is always greatly appreciated. Feel free to tip a little extra to anyone who made you feel a little more at home.

SURF Our surfing zone extends 20 miles to the south to 20 miles to the north - we utilize our surf boats to access hard-to-reach beaches and reefs, allowing entry to uncrowded waves and little-known breaks. Our front yard contains 2 unique beach breaks, 1 reef slab and 1 point break, all steps away from each other. The surf here comes in many different forms, and during your stay we’ll show as much of it to you as possible. NEARBY BREAKS: La barra aka Puerto Sandino, The jetty, Punta Miramar, Chicken Bowls, Launch Ramps, Pipes, Il Transitio, Playa Hermosa, Playa Salinas, Dog Shits, Crocs, Tamarindo, Valero and Las Flores. We have waves year-round with generally smaller swell from November to March, and April to October usually seeing an increase in size. Surf Lessons Available Year-Round.

T R A N S P O R TAT I O N Casa La Barra Surf Resort handles your arrival transfer from Managua to La Barra, and we arrange your transfers free of charge for all groups arriving together. Solo travelers and multi flight groups a flat $60.00 fee USD per trip. Transfers for surfing are included by boat on surf tour packages, as well as paid adventure tour transfers.
