A Note From Jack...

I’m asked the same question all the time. “How did you come up with the idea of 11x17.com?”

I have spent 25 plus years in design drafting, in engineering offices and petrochemical plants.

I recognized the convenience of using 11” x 17” CAD drawings from using 24” x 36” hand drawings. It was hard to find binders and filing supplies for 11” x 17”, much less at reasonable prices for my own project needs. Our two daughters were teenagers and I wanted them to earn their own spending money. No child of mine was going to be lazy, but I didn’t want them out late at night. So in 1994, my family started making 11x17 binders and tab dividers in our garage after purchasing some basic equipment second hand. We initially sold our products to engineering firms. With the continued support from my wife and daughters,
