CLASSICAL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND NEWSLETTER
Editorial Dear CAI members, I hope that this bulletin finds you and your loved ones safe and well. At the time of writing, it seems that the worst of the pandemic has passed and we can look forward to an enjoyable summer. In Classics, we have the opportunity for rest and reflection. Here, Professor Emeritus David Scourfield reminisces about his career and shares his observations about the development of Classics in Ireland (pp. 5-6); and Professor Isabelle Torrance and Dr Donncha O'Rourke describe how both past and new directions in Irish Classics have shaped their ERC-funded project 'Classical Influences and Irish Culture' (pp. 2-4). In addition, our Irish Branch, University, and affiliates' latest initiatives, all online (including the IIHSA Annual Day School, held in April via Zoom after cancellation last year, left), are reported on pp. 9-11. With best wishes for as fine a summer as the view above, of the Punico-Roman harbour of Tharros, Sardinia, courtesy of Cosetta Cadau, Selga Medenieks
