DIAGRAMMING

Scorpionflies are unique insects that do not rely on a specific environment or food source and have become very adaptable. After much deliberation attempting to create a habitat for the scorpionfly, I realized that the most necessary component was to have open and enclosed spaces. By using the ordering system weaving, I created pockets and openings in the structure that are available for the scorpionfly to maneuver through quickly and safely. This also creates a safe place for the eggs to be placed away from predators. The chipboard material used for the habitat was chosen because it has a more nature-like feel and look rather than a man made impression. The design itself allows light to be filtered through more at the top and less and less towards the bottom for more privacy and security.
