Major Richard J. Wallace
’07 Major Richard J. Wallace is a physician assistant at Lowcountry Healthcare Systems in Williston, South Carolina. He is responsible for primary medical care and clinical duties while working under the direction of a physician. Richard completed his undergraduate education at Claflin University with a bachelor's degree in biology and a chemistry minor in 2007. He continued his education at the Medical University of South Carolina, obtaining a master's in physician assistant studies. He began his career with a direct ascension into the USAF in 2010. While in service, he was stationed at JB Charleston and Tyndall Air Force Base, providing care to active duty and retired military populations. He was deployed to Al Udeid Air Base. During his service in the USAF, he was a PA functional manager, Clinical Disaster team lead, and element leader. He also provided oversight for the Wing Blood Bank program. In addition to his civilian work, he continues to serve his country in the United States Air Force Reserves as part of the 315th Airlift Wing. Richard is married to fellow Claflin alumna LaVita Lewis-Wallace. Together, they have three children: Payton, Ayden, and Lauryn.
