Buckley King expands into Kentucky
Buckley King is expanding into Louisville, Ky., and has hired Bill Mabry to lead the initiative, expanding the firm’s footprint as well as its offerings to clients, particularly in the area of health care. Mabry, formerly a partner with Frost Brown Todd, has represented health care facilities and providers across the United States and in England, including hospitals, physicians, home health care agencies, nursing homes, provider-sponsored organizations, teaching institutions, diagnostic centers and ambulatory centers. “Bill continues Buckley King’s dedication to building its practice around the needs of our clients,” said Brent M. Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association to hold fundraiser
The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association will hold its annual fundraiser, Rock the Foundation 13, from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 10 at Music Box Supper Club, 1148 Main Ave. in Cleveland. Frank Sullivan, chairman and chief executive officer of RPM International, Inc., will receive the 3rd annual Richard W. Pogue Award for Excellence in Community Leadership & Engagement. Following the presentation, Nitebridge will perform upstairs and acoustic guitarist Nate Jones will perform downstairs. There will be a raffle, an open bar and multiple food stations. Rock the Foundation benefits the Lawyers Giving Back community and pro bono legal service programs of the Cleveland Bar Association. These programs promote equal access to justice, diversity and inclusion, law-related education and community service provided by members of the legal community. Bar Association to hold summit on high-profile cases
The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association will host a media and law summit from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. tentatively on June 14. Introductory remarks will be given by Clevelander Justin Herdman, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. The event will feature hour-long panels, the first being a journalist panel moderated by Jan Leach, associate professor in the school of journalism and mass communication at Kent State University, covering high-profile trials and the ethical concerns that arise. This panel will feature Greg Korte from USA Today and Wes Lowery and Matt Zapotosky from The Washington Post. Lowery is a Shaker Heights High School graduate. There also will be an attorney panel moderated by Tom Hodson, director of the WOUB Center for Public Media at Ohio University in Athens, on participating in high-profile trials. Speakers include Clevelanders Carole Rendon, former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio who is with BakerHostetler, and Bridget Brennan, chief of criminal division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, as well as trial attorney Nathaniel Lee of Indianapolis. A third panel is in consideration about ethics, the law and media in the social age, which would feature University of Dayton law professor Thaddeus Hoffmeister.

Tucker Ellis launches corporate blog
Tucker Ellis LLP launched its new corporate blog, Lingua Negoti, or “language of business,” co-edited by partners Christopher Hewitt and Jayne Juvan. In addition to offering a view on recent developments in corporate, mergers and aquisitions, and securities law matters, the blog’s primary goal is to create a common language of business as it relates to these topics.
