Helping Holocaust Services Help Survivors The transition of the administration of Holocaust Community Services (HCS) from JCFS to CJE SeniorLife early in 2015 required clerical assistance from volunteers. Filing, scanning and inputting data, volunteers donated over 150 hours allowing HCS staff to focus on reaching out to nearly 800 Holocaust survivors and their families by offering support groups, socialization programs and assistance with various Holocaust reparations and compensation programs. As part of the effort to seek new opportunities to serve more survivors and their families, Holocaust Community Services will be expanding their volunteer services by providing survivors with in–home “Friendly Visitor” volunteers.
Marcia Steinberg (HCS volunteer) and Aubrey Scheffey (HCS staff) discuss a filing project.
I enjoy being an administrative volunteer for CJE SeniorLife Holocaust Community Services. While assisting the staff, I also learn about the variety of services provided to the clients. It is wonderful knowing that the donation of my time is for a great cause. Lisa Zagorin Volunteer
