Construction Contracts Limited, along with the consultant team Stantec, delivered this complex stormwater upgrade project
The project involved the laying of a new upgraded stormwater system with manholes and large capacity sumps to elevate the historic flooding issues for affected properties in Queen Street, Mount Victoria, Wellington. A connection was made to an 1887-era brick culvert of historical significance, with a new pipe laid at depths of four metres along Brougham Street and then into Queen Street. Challenges included unknown underground services and structures, low overhead services, a large tree, maintaining stormwater flows and keeping everyone happy.
