Completing the Moa Point Interceptor Bypass pumping project was no easy feat.
It was one of the largest bypass projects E N Ramsbottom had carried out and was far from a ‘Business as usual’ project for them. The crew pumped approximately 1 billion litres of sewage (402 Olympic sized swimming pools).
The project was high risk and contained a number of complexities including environmental sensitivity and intense public scrutiny. Adding to these pressures was the requirement to protect a crew working in the pipe and all while under Covid Level 4 lock down.
The bypass pumping was completed successfully, on time, under budget and without incident or injury. This is due to the several months of meticulous planning that went into ensuring things went smoothly.
