TOP TIPS Asking killer questions Ensure to turn up prepared with questions that will help you decide if a particular organisation is the one for you. These might be about work culture, long-term career prospects, opportunities to work internationally and opportunities for professional qualifications. You may also wish to ask questions about recent news stories or big issues facing a particular organisation or industry. Avoid asking questions which are easily answered with basic research.

Get ahead of the game Get fast-track entry to the Fair and learn how to make a great first impression on employers by attending our Fair preparation session on Monday 14th October from 1pm – 2pm. Register your attendance online at: https://buff.ly/2H00Eu4

Making the most of the Careers Clinics City’s careers consultants will deliver Careers Clinic sessions during the Fair. These 15-minute appointments will cover a range of general careers advice, ranging from CV and LinkedIn checks to application advice. Remember to bring along a copy of your CV.

Getting off to a great start Remember that employers are there to meet you, too. Expect to be asked questions such as ‘tell me about your course and why you decided to study it’ and ‘what interests you about our organisation or field?’ Introduce yourself with your name, course and year of study. You may want to say a few words about your career aspirations, areas of interest and why you have approached the employer in front of you. Jot down some notes in the space below.

The work of government lawyers is interesting, varied, challenging and often headline news. Whether the government is creating new laws, helping to develop new policies, buying goods and services, employing people or defending its decisions in court, it needs significant levels of legal advice on a wide range of complex issues. To carry out this work, the government needs its own lawyers and legal trainees who understand its business. Legal work is complex, politically sensitive and often in the public eye. It covers a wide range of public and private law matters including litigation, advisory and legislative work as well specialist areas such as commercial and employment.

As well as being a local, long established (for over 170 years) leading firm of solicitors, Hatten Wyatt offer a comprehensive range of legal services for both individuals and businesses. Our dogmatic commitment to providing not only high-quality legal advice but excellent customer service as well has enabled us to expand significantly in recent years to incorporate some of the leading law firms around Kent from Tenterden and Maidstone to Chatham. www.hatten-wyatt.com @hattenwyatt linkedin.com/company/hatten-wyatt

Keeping people safe. Being there when no-one else is. For the vulnerable, the young. Making decisions that help change lives. That change our lives, too. Tackling drugs and gangs, becoming an expert in fraud or public order. Being part of one big family. Everyone on team, working together. Doing something real, and proud to do it. Ask any of us why we became police officers in the Met and we’ll all have different reasons. But it all boils down to this: to do something real and make a difference. Whatever your reason to be a police officer in London’s Met, it’s the greatest reason in the world. www.met.police.uk @metpoliceuk facebook.com/metpoliceuk

We do the right thing. We give the right advice. Right here in London. At Russell-Cooke we’re not tied to process, bound by hierarchy or fixated on job titles.
