Adults and children had fun playing musical chairs in lower Queen Street last Friday.
Lower Queen Street activated Lower Queen St is now traffic-free and AT is encouraging people to make the most of the space to walk, cycle and relax. At different times for the next five Fridays, there are walking and cycling ‘activations’. Last week people of all ages were playing musical chairs, a maze was marked on the road and a bike polo tournament held. “We will have small to large activations throughout the next year to keep the area lively and support local businesses,” says CRL’s place manager Nazla Carmine. “While this area is only traffic-free temporarily, we want people to enjoy the benefits of the space while they can.”

Soldata system installed Soldata’s instrumentation system to monitor even tiny ground and building movement is underway. All buildings on Albert Street, and most on Victoria Street, now have the system’s laser-guided prisms attached to them. These will reflect laser beams into a grid to detect minute changes in building movement, feeding the data into a monitoring system that allows any issues to be addressed immediately.
