Our Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to present the 2017 Annual Play Plan. It is our goal to provide the citizens of Winter Park with the best in parks and recreational programming. As part of our effort to furnish an excellent variety and selection of recreational opportunities, our department has met and exceeded the requirements of the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). The city’s Parks & Recreation Department is one of only 145 other departments nationwide that can claim the highest level of performance recognized in the professional field of parks and recreation. We invite you to read our Annual Play Plan, visit our facilities, and experience our commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle that is available in Winter Park. ~ Your Parks & Recreation Team

do you know

about this park? As Winter Park’s crown jewel, Central Park is the centerpiece to not only our department but to the entire city. This beautiful gathering space is where you can find a quiet place to read, a family having a picnic with their children, an evening movie, an internationally-renowned art show and so much more. It was deeded to the city on April 6, 1906, by Charles Hosmer Morse. The plaque (shown right) is found in the south portion of the park, and was donated by the Friends of Central Park on November 20, 1986, honoring the life and generosity of Mr. Morse. The plaque reads: “Charles Hosmer Morse was born in 1833 in St. Johnsbury Center, Vermont. From 1883 until his death in 1921, he considered Winter Park his second home. His vision and generosity are responsible for much of its beauty today. The park which surrounds you is one of his benefactions. Charles Hosmer Morse was one of the pioneers who gave this community the character which brought so much happiness to so many. Dedicated by Friends of Central Park, November 20, 1986.”

Be sure to visit the park, have a seat on a bench, and absorb the amazing character of our city. Just look and listen, and you will soon see how this park is indeed our crown jewel!
