Curious about collections? Artifact collections that is! Take a leisurely trip back in time as you learn about preservation, artifact storage and handling, and the intricacy of our historic building. The game’s afoot for our murder mystery program. Plan your next group activity with us where you will learn more about early Wetaskiwin while being an historical figure catching a killer. LEARN TO KNIT

A ‘wool’ of possibilities are taught here at the Museum. For two nights you will be given instruction by expert knitter Vicky Jacobsen.

Fundamentals like casting on and off, reading a pattern, and finishing techniques will be demonstrated. Ultimately, everyone in attendance will have a new headband to take home. WOMEN OF ASPENLAND

As an ongoing exhibit, the Heritage Museum pays tribute to the many women who made their own unique contribution to the communities of Wetaskiwin City, County, and Maskwacîs. The exhibit includes over 100 ladies, with new inductees being showcased each year. We are always looking for recommendations, so stop by, let our heroines inspire you, and nominate someone you know.

Our summer camps are here! Keep those brain cells fired up through the summer by joining our children’s camp. Rainbows: A grief intervention program for children. Through interactive games, lessons and activities led by trained facilitators, the Rainbows program helps walk children through the difficult phases of grief.

SPEAK Safe: A preventative learning program about personal safety for children. Speak conveys a powerful message to children about their right to grow up abuse-free.

Roots of Empathy: An evidence-based classroom program. Trained facilitators deliver this program to classrooms in Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools. Roots of Empathy aims to reduce aggression, raise social and emotional competence in children, and increase empathy.

Rhyming Tots: A free drop in program for parents or caregivers with children ages 0-5 years. Oral Language fun with rhymes, songs and stories.

Books for Babies: Provides a book bag to infants at their four month immunization.

Baby receives their first library card along with two board books to encourage early literacy.

The Home Support Program provides light housekeeping services for seniors living in the City of Wetaskiwin. This program covers the day to day housekeeping chores, such as vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, etc.

Home Support Services Homemaking Services is a ratepayer assistance program that provides eligible ratepayers with light housekeeping services to maintain their independence and remain in their homes. The Homemaking Program provides general homemaking, such as: vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, laundry, spring and fall cleaning. Eligible ratepayers may include seniors, the disabled or those who may require some extra help while recovering from a hospital visit. Referrals can come from family members, friends, doctors, or themselves. A fee based on income is charged per hour and invoiced monthly.

Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) Community Facility Funding Program The County of Wetaskiwin No.10 recognizes the importance of supporting the long term sustainability of the County’s community facilities by providing funding for capital projects. The MSI Community Facility Funding Program provides nonprofit community groups with funding for capital improvement projects. The existence of the County’s funding program is contingent upon funding of the Municipal Sustainability Initiative which is a program of the Province of Alberta and as such may be subject to review or discontinued by the Province. All

projects under this program must receive final approval by the Province of Alberta before funds are released. Applications are due April 30.

Recreation Grants The Council of the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 supports active living for all ages within our community. Therefore Council is cognizant of the importance of providing funds to the various County Recreation Zones help enhance recreational opportunities. The County allocates funds annually to the County Regional Recreation Boards. The funding is provided for the development of a broad range of recreation services that will provide opportunity for people of all ages to use their recreation time in a wholesome and satisfying manner. Council wishes to provide a fair and equitable set of guidelines for the distribution of Recreation funds through the County’s 5 Recreation Zones.

Cemetery Grants Grants are available for general maintenance costs incurred by those volunteer groups who maintain cemeteries within the County of Wetaskiwin. A maximum of $1,000 per cemetery may be available to assist groups with maintenance. Applications for funds will be received by the County until March 31.

Cassandra Kirkpatrick has her own small flock in High River, Alberta. She is also an entrepreneur, starting her own business in 2015, Jungle Out There Pet Services. Cassandra has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. Some of her hands-on experience with poultry comes from being a certified Poultry Welfare Auditor.
